Myth vs. Fact Myth: Diabetes does not affect my oral health.
Fact: More and more studies are showing a link between the mouth and the rest of the body, including its correlation with diabetes. Over 400 different types bacteria can exist in the human mouth and the rest of the body, including its correlation with diabetes. Over 400 different types of bacteria can exist in the human mouth. Many of them thrive in sugars, including glucose, the sugar linked to diabetes. Persons with diabetes have a greater than normal risk of gingivitis and periodontal disease. Like any infection, gum disease can make controlling the blood-sugar level very difficult.

Answer to DAT Practice Question: Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells are similar in having (d) intrgral
membrane proteins in the plasma membrane. Both prokaryotes and eukaryotes interact with the extracellular environment and use membrane-bound or membrane-associated proteins to achieve this. They both use diffusion and active transport to move materials in and out of their cells. Prokaryotes have very few proteins associated with their DNA, whereas eukaryotes’ DNA is richly studded with proteins. Both types of living things can have flagella, although with different structural characteristics in the two groups. The most important differences between prokaryotes and eukaryotes are the lack of a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles in prokaryotes.
