Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s AnimalsWhy We Were Created To solve animal homelessness problem in NYC by:
• Enabling the pooling of resources • Overcoming differences in priorities, and • Facilitating the collaboration of the four key groups:
• NYC Government • NYC Public • Animal Care Centers of NYC* • Shelters & Rescue Groups

Live Release/Intake at ACC Live Release represents adoptions, transfers to rescue, return to owners as a percentage of total intake. While intake increased by 4% due to increase in cat intake, live release increased by close to 4% since 2013. With euthanasia requests taken out of the formula, live release increases to over 80%.

2014 ACC Euthanasia Reduction Euthanasia at ACC has flattened as projected in the last 2 years.
- well over 275,000 dogs’ and cats’ lives have been saved at ACC since 2003. - 20.5% of total euthanasia at ACC in 2014 were owner requested euthanasia.
- with euthanasia requests taken out of the formula, live release increases to over 80%.

Dog Live Release/Intake at ACC Live Release represents adoptions, transfers to rescue, return to owners. Increased by 3% as a percentage of total intake. Live release of dogs has remained flat since 2013. While live release increased by 2%, intake decreased by 1.5% since 2013.

Cat Live Release/Intake at ACC Live Release represents adoptions, transfers to rescue, return to owners as a percentage of total intake. While cat intake increased by close to 8%, live release increased by close to 5%. Cat intake increased primarily due to warmer weather we had in winter months in 2014.

2014 ACC Euthanasia Reduction Breakdown Dogs / Cats Euthanasia at ACC was reduced by over 78% since 2003. Cat euthanasia increased slightly due to an increase in intake of 8% (1,387) as a result of a very warm spring through fall. Of the 2,397 dogs euthanized, 35% were owner- requested.

2014 ACC Intake In 2014, ACC intake increased as projected (due to an increase in cat intake) to over 30,000 for the first time since 2011. - Cat intake is higher than in 2013 due to continued longer warmer seasons. - Dog intake has consistently declined at a steady pace since 2003.

2014 Transfers from ACC to rescue and/or sheltersTransfers from ACC to all shelters and rescue groups (includes MPPs and other rescues) increased by over 176%, from 5,519 in 2003 to over 15,000 in 2014. Close to 70% of transfers were done by Alliance Wheels of Hope.
- Transfers to shelters/rescue represent over 50% of intake at ACC, compared to 12% in 2003. - Total lives saved as a percentage of total community intake in 2014 increased to over 87%, compared to 33% in 2003. - Close to 8 of every 10 lives were saved in 2014, compared to 1 in 3 in 2003, by the NYC rescue community

individuals who work directly with stray and feral cats — collectively known as “community cats” — and perform Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) in NYC
• Goal is to humanely reduce the population of community cats in NYC

• Offers free TNR workshops in the five boroughs and online • Offers specialty workshops such as bottle-feeding, taming kittens,
and neighbor relations • Provides loans and rentals of traps, dividers, and cages • Transports traps and cats to and from clinics and holding/recovery
