Dear readers,

It is with great pleasure that I announce our first ever newsletter It is with great pleasure that I announce our first ever newsletter of AIESEC at Middlesex University (Mauritius). Three years since AIESEC MDX is striving to establish a good platform for its mem-bers to develop their potentials while giving back to the society. It has grown from an expansion of AIESEC UOM to an independent expansion and hopefully a full LC by the end of the term 2014-2015. EB Renaissance is working hard to make sure that our members can feel truly valued to be able to achieve bigger and members can feel truly valued to be able to achieve bigger and better. We want to offer you the best out of AIESEC and offer you a variety of opportunities to grab.

Many of us have a wish: Make the world a better place. If we want to change the world and impact the world positively, it starts with us. Take a minute and ask yourself: “What have I done so far to make it a better place? What was my contribution so far? What can I do to make a change?” We are the world, so let’s start with up-grading ourselves and the little world around us.

AIESEC at Middlesex University, from its inception has been doing a bit better at Outgoing Exchange. One good thing that comple-ments the international blend of students present on campus.

Proud to mention, the Expansion is the leading entity for OGX in AIESEC Mauritius; a claim we will always strive to retain.

Yeah, OGX for us is SEXY!

Kudos to the present OGX Coordinator - Muhsinah Sookun, she has always been part of OGX since her induction into AIESEC. We look forward to amazing results from the department by the end of the term.

OGX IS SEXY!

Oh yes, for the first time we did it! It was a great feeling, right from the start till the end of the project which saw 6 EPs work with AIESEC at Middlesex University during the period - June to Jul 2014. Therefore, OGX is not the only department to claim a record.

Unfortunately the department will not be involved in the usual DeUnfortunately the department will not be involved in the usual De-cember to Febraury exchange peak period. However, members of the department will be working tooth and nail to create a record for the May to July period.

Back to the first paragraph...

In June 2014, AIESEC at Middlesex worked on its first ever iGCDP project titled: Animal Welfare in collaboration with PAWS Mauri-tius situated at The Vale. This project hosted 6 EPs:- 2 from Shangai, China (Peng, Cindy)- 2 from Hong Kong, China (Max, Kara)- 1 from Singapore (Ping)- 1 from Tunisia (Intissar Hafsi)

and these were the feedback from the EPs:1. It was the best experience in my entire life.

2. It was an enlightening experience because I was able to learn from meeting people from other cultures and contribute, albeit minimal, to a local NGO by showing my care to animals.

ICX ROCKS!

3. A totally new kind of experience and very amazing

in summary, these were their views on Mauritius:

Mauritius is a diverse countMauritius is a diverse country packed on a small island. The lifestyle here is very different from other parts of the world. The only things I can think of which contrast vastly to where I'm from is the public transportation system and working hours of shops and res-taurants. However, diversity and difference are positive, something lacking in our post-modern apocalyptic world.

The 2014/2015 AIESEC term started off in AIESEC at Middlesex University with the recruitment process - awareness/orientation, interviews, selection.

The process started in October 2014 with on-campus awareness and orientation which saw about 60 students applying for mem-bership. This, of course, is a record number that reflects good awareness and orientation campaign.

Fast forward after applications and interviews, by November 2014, 31 persons were selected. They made up for the November 2014 Intake; a superb league of young mind - We so dearly love them!

Yay, finally the long and stressful recruitment process was over. But then, the induction series was just at hand with the first epi-sode as the official ‘Induction’ event and up next was the ‘Induc-tion Conference’.

RECRUITMENT& INDUCTION

Page 10: 2014 In Review: AIESEC At Middlesex University Newsletter

The induction event was yet another successful one with more than 75% positive feedback. Coming up next was the second (and last) episode of the induction series - the induction conference.

The official ‘Induction’ event slated for 22 November was obviously a good kickstarter for ‘real business’ for the Expansion. We saw the 31 selected applicants go through the AIESEC Induction; this was pure amazing and inspiring both to the EB and the new members.

““Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”. That was the line taunted by the MarComms Coordinator, and was even the headline on the group photo. There were a lot of challenges, but we started it right. We hope to keep the passion alive as we get into ‘real business’ in 2015.

An AIESEC induction conference is usually a 1-3 day conference for new members to learn more about AIESEC identity and operations, meet other AIESECers, and begin planning your AIESEC Experience.

For the first time, against all odds, the For the first time, against all odds, the Expansion has its first local conference. Yet another milestone reached. the Induction Confer-ence, just as should be, was an eye-opener, an inspiring event that saw about 20 new members rejuvenate their passion towards the vision and mission of the Expansion and AIESEC, at large.

The conference was held on the 6th and 7th of December 2014. A two-day retreat from the usual - family members and close friends, bringing each member close to another. This is one of the many reasons why a conference will always be special to an AIESECer!

So much fun, so much memories, so much deep lessons, with people you only met a few weeks beforehand. It always is an amaz-ing opportunity and experience. Little wonder the statement:

“WHAT HAPPENS IN A CONFERENCE, STAYS IN A CONFERENCE”

Well except the lessons learnt from sessions.

We look forward to more conferences and memorable experiences from the expansion.

Hello Mauritius, preferred to be written as #HelloMauritius is a Na-tional marketing campaign which aims to project a new visual iden-tity to Mauritius and her culture, tell the stories of Exchange Partic-ipants who travel to Mauritius to make an impact., promote the iGCDP programme and create a sense of belonging to AIESECers in Mauritius.

To this effect, the campaign was officially launched on the 16th of October 2014, and since then it has seen a lot of activities, and has proven to be a top-notch strategy for the first half of the term. We hope to achieve much more through this campaign for the remain-ing half of the term.

To support the campaign, a T-Shirt was launched. Fast-fowrad to few weeks ahead, a Photo Contest was introduced. It’s all about creating the sense of belonging, promoting the country and iGCDP programmes.

The EB Rennaisance - just a bunch of young minds willing to chal-lenge the status quo; crazy enough to think we can make things better.

The EB team officially assumed respective roles on July 1st 2014 to begin the 2014/2015 AIESEC term.

Let’s rewind a bit...

Looking at the state of affair of the Expansion, even before assuming roles, it dawned on the elected EB team that a lot of work needs to be done if we should record a successful term with positive growth by June 2015.

This, together with teaThis, together with team’s resolution for a change, led to the naming of the team as ‘Renaissance’, meaning rebirth, revival of or renewed interest in something. Obviously, this became the main focus for the term - “reviving AIESEC (love, culture, way) in the Expansion”. One for which we believe the entire team is focused on achieving. Kudos!

Back to present...

The EB team is made up of four amazing young girls, and probably The EB team is made up of four amazing young girls, and probably the most awesome guy around the block.
