LOCK HAVEN HEAD COACH: Coming off a memorable 2013 campaign, John Allen is in his fourth season as head coach at Lock Haven. He has posted a 6-36 overall record with the Bald Eagles with his first victory coming in the final week of the 2012 season, snapping a 52-game losing streak - a NCAA Division II record. Last year, Lock Haven shifted to the PSAC East and Allen guided the program to its first three-win season since 2004. Allen previously served as an assistant at Lock Haven from 1996-03.
SCOUTING THE BALD EAGLES: Lock Haven lost all four of its All-PSAC selections from last year, which marked the most for the program since 2005. The Bald Eagles rank in the bottom three of the PSAC in scoring offense (15.5 points/game) and total offense (286.0 yards/game). Junior quarterback Caleb Walton is on pace to become the program’s first 2,000-yard passer since 1995 after throwing for over 220 yards in each of the opening three games of the season. In his first year as the starter, junior Beau Swales leads the team with 546 rushing yards after posting back-to-back 100-yard games last month. Junior David Cook and senior Bernard Smack have both totaled over 40 receptions and have combined for seven touchdowns. Lock Haven sits in the middle of the league in both scoring defense (26.7 points/game) and total defense (408.8). Senior defensive back George Christas leads the team and ranks fourth in the PSAC with 90 tackles (52 solo) and has also added three interceptions and three fumble recoveries. Sophomore Daniel Strawbridge sits second on the team with 71 stops (51 solo) and is tied for fourth in the league with four interceptions. On special teams, junior Bryce Stambaugh ranks fourth in the PSAC with a career-best average of 37.3 yards/punt with eight punts of 50-plus yards. Junior kicker Alex Boumerhi has made a pair of 40-plus yard field goals, but is only 6-of-14 overall this year.
WHO’S IN: The latest Super Region One rankings were released on Monday and the PSAC continues to feature four teams in the rankings with Cal U slotted ninth. The region enters the weekend with a pair of undefeated teams. Super Region One consists of four conferences - PSAC, MEC, CIAA and NE-10 - and no league earns an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Playoffs. The top-two teams in the final regional rankings receive first-round byes, while the third and fourth seeds host first-round games.
AGAINST THE EAST: Since 2004, Cal U holds a combined 26-9 record against PSAC East opponents. The Vulcans and Bald Eagles last met during the 2012 season when Lock Haven was still a member of the PSAC West. Lock Haven shifted divisions last year when the league expanded with the addition of Seton Hill.
OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION: In last week’s contest, Cal U and Mercyhurst combined for 1,174 yards of total offense while running a combined 146 plays. Cal U quarterback James Harris and Mercyhurst quarterback Brendan Boylan both set single-game school records for their respective schools while passing for a combined 1,017 yards and 10 touchdowns. Cal U wide receiver Garry Brown and Mercyhurst wide receiver Stephen Yarbrough combined for over half of the receiving yards (520) and six scores while each set single-game school records. The teams combined for 70 points in the second half with the teams scoring touchdowns on seven-consecutive possessions in the fourth quarter.
HOME SWEET HOME: Cal U has posted a 53-10 overall record (.841) at Adamson Stadium since 2005, highlighted by a 30-3 mark (.909) against opponents in the PSAC West.

STATISTICAL COMPARISON
CALVULCANS
2014 Cal U Football Game Notes www.calvulcans.com
HITTING THE BOOKS: Senior offensive lineman Jack Abercrombie and senior linebacker Spencer Lynn were both recently selected to the Capital One All-District Team in Super Region One. Abercrombie earned the honor for the second-straight year, while Lynn received the laurel for the first time in his career. This marks the seventh-consecutive season in which the Vulcans have featured at least one academic all-district selection.
BROWN DELIVERS AGAIN: Last week at Mercyhurst, sophomore wide receiver Garry Brown broke one of the longest standing records in school history. He finished with 282 receiving yards and three touchdowns on only eight catches, averaging 35.3 yards/catch. He broke the previous school record of 226 receiving yards set by Pete Gialames in 1968. Brown totaled 242 yards and three scores on four receptions in just the fourth quarter. The Columbus native boasts the second-highest single-game receiving total in all of NCAA this season.
RUN STUFFERS: The Vulcans rank third in the PSAC and sixth in NCAA Division II this season in rushing defense, allowing a stout 83.7 yards/game. Cal U has allowed only three teams to eclipse the century mark in a game this season with a season-high 164 yards on 48 attempts at Bloomsburg. The Vulcans have also allowed only a single 100-yard rusher while facing seven of the top-10 leading rushers in the PSAC.
TOP MARK: Junior quarterback James Harris set the single-game school record for passing yards in last week’s shootout at Mercyhurst. He posted 473 passing yards and four touchdowns on 21-of-42 attempts in the losing effort. The Georgia native eclipsed the previous single-game school mark of 443 yards set by Kevin McCabe in the 2008 PSAC Championship Game. Harris needed only 10 completions in the second half to total 299 passing yards.
SEEING DOUBLE: Senior linebacker Spencer Lynn has registered double-digit tackles in each of the last four games. Last week at Mercyhurst, he tallied 10 stops with a season-high nine solo tackles and also registered 2.0 TFL. Lynn is tied for sixth in the PSAC with 9.0 tackles/game while leading the team with 81 stops (39 solo) this season. The Belle Vernon product is within reach of matching his career high of 90 tackles set as a redshirt freshman in 2011.
TOUCHDOWN MACHINE: In his first year playing offense, senior Terrell Roberson ranks second in the PSAC with 15 rushing touchdowns. He has scored multiple touchdowns in five games this season, including three games with three scores. Roberson has already surpassed the team’s total rushing touchdown count from last season and has scored the most rushing touchdowns in a season since Brandon Lombardy registered 19 scores in 2006.
SENIORITY: The Vulcans feature a group of 11 seniors in 2014. The senior class has compiled a record of 32-12 and started a combined 138 games. Senior offensive lineman Jack Abercrombie leads the team with 31-consecutive starts dating back to the 2012 season. The senior class also features four-year kicker Cody Nuzzo and three-year punter Andrew Cerett.
CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY: The champion in each of the four conferences in Super Region One will be decided on Saturday. In the PSAC, Bloomsburg and Slippery Rock meet in a rematch of last year’s title game won in the final minute by the Huskies. In the CIAA, Winston-Salem State and Virginia State will play for the title, while the NE-10 features LIU Post against American International. The MEC features a de facto title game between Concord and Shepherd.

ERIE, Pa. (Nov. 8) – Wide receiver Garry Brown and quarterback James Harris both broke single-game school records on Saturday afternoon, as the Vulcans suffered a 59-49 loss at Mercyhurst in PSAC West play. Brown tallied 282 receiving yards and three touchdowns (76, 75, 47) on only eight catches (35.3 yards/catch). He broke the single-game school record of 226 receiving yards set by Pete Gialames in 1968, which was one of the longest standing records in program history. Brown posted 242 yards and three scores on four receptions in just the fourth quarter. Harris finished with 473 passing yards and four touchdowns on 21-of-42 attempts with a pair of interceptions. He eclipsed the previous single-game mark of 443 yards set by Kevin McCabe in the 2008 PSAC Championship Game. Linebacker Spencer Lynn and defensive back Tyrone Taylor both finished with a team-high 10 tackles.
