The Center for Family Resources (CFR) will be thepremier place with the best people and programs forstrengthening individuals, families, and communities toacquire the skills they need to become independent andself-sufficient, thereby breaking the cycle of poverty.
“
2014 was an amazing year. We are truly blessed to have so many individuals and businesses who support our
cause. For more than 50 years, we have continued to serve families in an effort to see them break the cycle
of poverty. We can’t express how grateful we are for your desire to help families in need and empower them
to become stable and self-sufficient. We never take for granted the roll you play in making this organization
a long standing part of the Cobb community and as the years pass and generations change, one thing has
remained constant; the support of each and every one of you! We hope you enjoyed 2014 as much as we did
and look forward to sharing our success this year.
To strengthen individuals, families and communities to become self-sufficient by providing:
• Temporary financial assistance to stabilize families in crisis;• Housing for low-income and homeless families in a safe and
secure environment;• Education and training for individuals and communities to
increase economic capacity and personal growth; and• Affordable office space for nonprofit organizations.
The Mansour Center continues to generate strong revenue for The Center for Family Resources (CFR) both through its conference center services and through its office space rental to other nonprofits. Businesses throughout the Atlanta community and from across the country repeatedly chose the Mansour Center as a venue for meetings, conferences and events this year and have fully embraced the Mansour Center’s new tag line, “Host a Meeting. Make a Difference.” Additionally, the Mansour Center provides affordable office space to several other nonprofit agencies, each providing much needed services to the community. The co-location of these agencies affords better opportunities for program collaboration and ultimately more efficient and effective delivery of services to those in need. AT A GLANCE IN 2014, THE CFR
THANKS FOR GIVING
RED CARPET GALA
The 2014 Thanks For Giving campaign was one of the most exciting ones yet. The Center for Family Resources board split into teams to generate additional revenue for the 29th Annual Thanks For Giving Campaign. Hundreds of volunteers donated their time, money and canned goods to the drive as we served more than 1,000 families this year. Between community donations and The Center for Family Resources board fundraising efforts, we raised more than $115,000 and collected more than 65,000 pounds of food. This was the largest Thanks for Giving campaign The CFR has ever held and we look forward to many more to come.
Starting out the year with glitz and glamour has become somewhat of a tradition for The Center for Family Resources. Cobb’s finest poured into the Cobb Galleria to celebrate the 85th Annual Academy Awards. John Bachman and Erin Coleman hosted the 18th Annual Red Carpet Gala which raised more than $366,000 to benefit Cobb County families in need. The evening is always one of pure joy and this year was no different. Board Chair Terri Bunten Guthrie also took the time to share her personal story with the crowd. There was not a dry eye in the audience as more than 500 people filled the room. Each year the Red Carpet Gala gets better and better. It has become an Oscar staple in the Atlanta area and a major fundraiser for our organization. The 2014 Red Carpet Gala was chaired by Shan Cooper of Lockheed Martin and Ben Mathis of Freeman, Mathis and Gary. Lockheed and WellStar were the presenting sponsors for the 2014 gala.
