SKI TECHNOLOGY

Our skis consistently outperform other skis in their class. One of the reasons for that is our constant strive for meaningful, targeted innovation that makes a genuine difference.

The result is unique Atomic technology across all skiing elements and playgrounds.

RAMP Tech is our new performance technology for Redster. When you turn at top speed, the ramp angle under your heel automatically increases by up to 10°. This lifts your heel up and pushes your bodyweight forward over the center of your ski. So you can maintain your momentum and carve precise turns on hard groomed slopes – with less power and more control.

RAMP TECH

The third generation of our hugely successful Redster Doubledeck technology. Innovations include a new free-gliding upper deck to increase stability and dampening, softer connectors at the front to make turn initiation easier, and stiffer connectors at the back for killer acceleration.

DOUBLEDECK 3.0

Selected skis in our women’s, kids’ and rental ranges feature a special flex zone in the binding area. This helps skiers bend their skis with less power, making turn initiation much easier – even for beginners.

BEND-X TECHNOLOGY

Featured on the new Bent Chetler, HRZN Tech takes an ABS sidewall construction and blends it with a revolutionary across-the-ski, horizontal rocker. It adds 10% more surface area in tip and tail, with less tip deflection and better tracking through chop. The ultimate design for powder skiers.

Skis like our Vantage and Backland include an ultra-lightweight Titanium or Carbon insert that runs the length of the ski like a stabilizing backbone, minimizing weight and adding a ton of strength to the entire construction.

BACKBONE TECHNOLOGY

Our Nomad and Cloud skis both feature ARC Technology. This technology means the ski has only one mounting point in the center of the ski – the Anchor Point. This frees the ski to flex naturally like a bow, resulting in perfect traction and smooth, natural rides with less effort.

WHAT ROCKER ARE YOU?

Wherever skiers love to ski the most, rockers precisely tailored to the terrain will improve their performance. Which is why all our skis boast the advantages of our Rocker technology.

Simply put, a rocker is an early rise in the tip (and sometimes the tail) of a ski. In all our skis, this rocker is combined with traditional camber for outstanding edge-hold and stability. Generally, the more rocker there is, the more performance and floatation you get in powder, and the more maneuverability and versatility in any snow. While the more camber a ski has, the more grip and performance you get on hard terrain. As well as our four specific rockers from last year, this year we’re introducing a new Race Rocker at the top end of our range.

A new rocker shape with a very slight early rise in the tip that is ideal for hard pack. Its camber provides extra-precise edge grip, while the rocker means easier turn initiation and no unwanted edge-catching. For increased safety at high speeds.

PISTE ROCKER

An early rise either just in the tip, or in both tip and tail. A rocker that’s super versatile, providing performance on all snow conditions and any terrain, both on and off-piste.

ALL MOUNTAIN ROCKER

The most pronounced Rocker we have in tip and tail, combined with camber underfoot. For awesome floatation and maneuverability in deep powder, crud and anything in between.

POWDER ROCKER

A rocker designed for the stability skiers need in the park: with a slightly early rise in the tip and tail to allow for butters and confident landings.

WALK TO RIDE

First of all, WTR stands for Walk To Ride. It’s been developed to make walking in your boots easier and less clunky, without losing performance out while skiing.There are two parts to the technology: WTR Grip Pads for boots and WTR compatible bindings. With WTR Grip Pads, the sole of your boot is rockered in the toe like a touring boot. This makes walking really relaxed and natural. But the extra benefit is that WTR Grip Pads also work with DIN Alpine bindings – as long as those bindings are WTR compatible. WTR compatibility is also certified by the TÜV, so our WTR boots and bindings are completely safe, just like any other DIN boot/binding combo.

We’re working in partnership with 3M to create the warmest ski boots ever made. As a big first step, we’ve added this world-class insulation to many of our liners. Specifically, we use Thinsulate™ Platinum all over our Platinum and Gold liners to surround the whole foot. And standard Thinsulate™ in the toe box of our Silver liners (where people get cold first).

How it works: The more air a material traps in a given space, the greater it´s insulating value. The microfibers in 3M™ Thinsulate™ Insulation are far finer than any other fibers. It means they trap more insulating air in less space, even when wet – keeping feet warm and responsive, even in extremely cold and damp conditions.

All our boots feature an Asymmetric Liner Construction (ASY). It’s the most anatomical liner construction on the market, and the best for supporting your feet while skiing. It features an asymmetric tongue, toe box, collar shape and high-quality lining materials, all geared towards creating a better fit and more comfort than ever.

LINER CONSTRUCTIONS

PLATINUM – GOLD – SILVER – BRONZE

In our boot range we have a new liner hierarchy: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. You’ll see these labels written on the tongue. Our liners get better as they go up from Bronze to Platinum. In particular, they provide the firmer fit better skiers need. They also become longer lasting, warmer and more personalizable.

FIRMER FIT The number one thing for first timers and intermediate skiers is to have boots that fit comfortably. As skiers get better, that fit can get firmer and more responsive. Our liners support that progression, with firmer foam and higher-performance Alcantara liner textiles as our boots go up in flex numbers.

LONGER LASTING We add Dynashape foam to our liners to make sure they don’t pack out as quickly. It instantly molds to your foot then constantly re-adapts. The better the liner the more Dynashape we add: generally, Silver has Dynashape on the ankle, Gold on the ankle and side, Platinum on ankle, side and tongue.

MORE PERSONALIZABLE All our liners are heat moldable for a personalized fit. Different liners have different amounts of heat moldable foam, labelled on the tongue: T1 has foam in the ankle, T2 in the ankle and side, T3 on the ankle, side and tongue.

WARMER From Silver upwards, many of our liners now feature 3M™ Thinsulate™, the world’s best-known insulation. The higher the liner, the more Thinsulate it has. This means you now get ThinsulateTM on Redster Pro W, Hawx 2.0, Waymaker, Live Fit, M-Tech and Overload. We’ve also added Thinsulate to all our Kids boots, as little feet get colder quicker.

THE NEXT STEP IN BOOT FITTING Atomic Memory Fit is an advancement in heat-fitting technology that takes fit, comfort and performance to the next level. And because it’s a faster process and available on two of the market’s top selling boots, it’s a great addition to the fitting service you can offer your customers.

COMPLETE ADAPTATIONWith Memory Fit all three elements of the boot adapt to the foot – shell, cuff and liner – and memorize the entire foot shape. Expansion can be up to 6 mm in total forefoot width and up to 10 mm in total ankle/navicular width. The result is a permanent and complete anatomical fit for your customers.

MEMOLINKMemolink is our special plastic additive that has been developed to work within Atomic boots. Memolink improves the moldability and stretch characteristics of our plastics and guarantees adhesion during and after the Memory Fit process.

VENTILATION

Our helmets feature a variety of adjustable and non-adjustable ventilation systems. Built to help you maintain the perfect temperature in any situation, from sweaty ascents to chilly lift rides:

ACTIVE DUAL ZONE VENTING

This system allows the skier to independently control the ventilation in the front and back of the helmet. Used on our Nomad and Affinity helmets.

CONSTRUCTION

All our helmets meet the highest EU and US safety standards, but our range also includes different constructions to suit different types of skiing:

ABS HARD SHELL

There are two types of hard shell: a full ABS shell that protects the sides, top and back of your head, including ears. And a half ABS shell with soft or no ear pads. Our Redsters have full shells – including a new Kevlar/glass-fiber version on Redster WC. Nomad, Affinity, Savor and all our other kids’ range feature a half shell. All provide ultimate high-impact protection without weighing you down.

ACTIVE SINGLE ZONE VENTING

Mentor and Xeed helmets feature a single zone vent system, with an adjuster that allows you to control ventilation over your whole head.

HYBRID SHELL

Our Xeed helmet features a unique combination of ABS hard shell and in-mold construction. It combines the best of both: maximum shock absorption and optimized weight.

PASSIVE VENTING

A built-in system used on Redster, Savor, Troop and our kids’ helmets. Basic but effective, it creates a constant air flow for a perfect regulation all day long.

IN-MOLD

Mentor helmets are constructed directly in the mold. The EPS foam is molded into the PC shell, which results in the lightest construction in the market.

SUPREME PROTECTION

All our lenses feature Class 1 optics. It means they offer 100% UVA/B protection. They’re anti scratch and anti fog. They comply with standards EN1836, AINSI Z80.AS/NZS 1067 for high-impact resistance. And they also come in a range of finishes:

UPGRADED MIRROR (UM)

This subtle mirror coating is applied to the outside surface of the lens for durability and great visibility in all weaher conditions.

MULTILAYER (ML)

A multilayered mirror finish increases protection from glare and reduces eye fatigue. The perfect balance between style and performance.

TRI-TECH

The very latest anti-static, hydrophobic and oleophobic coating. It hardens the lens to make it super smooth, resistant and durable, without altering the color at all.

CYLINDRICAL LENSES

Savor’s lenses curve horizontally while remaining flat vertically. They’re quality polycarbonate double lenses with awesome clarity and a cool mirrored finish. Cylindrical lenses offer great performance at a slightly lower price.

SPHERICAL ZEISS LENSES

Revel’s spherical lenses curve horizontally and vertically around your face, giving the goggles a cool bubbled look. Because they’ve come from the world’s leading lens supplier, they have brilliant clarity of vision.

UV FILTERS

UV rays are the most dangerous of the sun’s rays. Even on cloudy days you can be exposed to a lot of UV rays up the mountain, and it can cause all sorts of damage to your eyes. As a result all our lenses filter out 100% of UV rays – whether they’re tinted, dark or mirrored.

UV PROTECTION

VISIBLE LIGHT TRANSMISSION (VLT)

Color has no impact on the quality of a lens. However, the lens color does protect eyes from glare and maximizes visibility. How much depends on the percentage of visible light allowed through the lens. This is rated from in five categories from 0 to 4 – and all our lenses fall between categories 1 and 3.

LENS CATEGORIES

Cat 0: These filters are a pale color or appear as a very light tint. They allow 81% to 100% of visible light through the lens.

Cat 1: These are slightly tinted and allow 43% to 80% of visible light through the lens. Recommended for low light in winter or overcast days.

Cat 2: These allow 18% to 42% of visible light through the lens. Effective protection in average sunlight conditions.

Cat 3: These are perfect for most conditions and will provide excellent protection from the sun. They allow 8% to 17% of visible light through the lens.

Cat 4: The most powerful category, allowing only about 3% of visible light through the lens. They are only necessary in extremely bright conditions, like when hiking on glaciers or in high mountains.

LENS TINTS AND COLORS

PHOTOCHROMIC

Our exclusive Photochromic lenses respond to changing light conditions by adjusting the level of tint. When it’s dark they get lighter. When the sun comes out they get darker to protect you from glare. So you’ve always got the perfect lens tint for any condition – without having to change a thing.

POLARIZED

Our special Polarized lenses filter out rays that hit the lens at an angle of 450. Importantly, this includes reflected light off water and snow. This extra protection prevents glare and makes skiing in bright light much more comfortable and safe.

Atomic is based in Altenmarkt in the province of Salzburg, right in the heart of the Alps, and wouldn’t have it any other way. Each new development can be tested on some of the world's most challenging slopes 365 days a year – within a stone's throw of the factory.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION

To keep the winters white Atomic and Amer Winter Sports put great focus on a sustainable factory setup in Altenmarkt by:

■ Heating presses with woodchips as opposed to oil

■ Using 100% recycled water for grinding processes

■ Meeting the highest environmental standards in the EU

Over the past few years, Amer Winter Sports Operations has invested 1.3 million Euros in environmental and ecologically sustainable measures. Internal and external experts developed an all-encompassing environmental concept for the entire Altenmarkt site and implemented it step by step. Ecological and economic aspects are efficiently harmonized through sustainable, ecological management.

As a recognition of these ongoing investments, Amer Winter Sports recently received the "Phönix 2014" waste management award. The Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (BMLFUW) and the Austrian Water and Waste Management Association (ÖWAV) present this award to companies that are particularly innovative in the area of environmental protection and ecology.
