UConn in the Final FourWith the 75-56 win over Stanford on 4/6, UConn improved to 9-6 all-time in national semifi nal games and improved to 9-0 in national champi-onship contests with the win over Notre Dame on 4/8. UConn’s 18-6 (.750), mark in national semifi nals and championship games is the third-highest winning percentage all-time. Only USC (5-1) and Baylor (4-1) have better winning percentages. Tennessee (21-10, .677) and UConn are the only teams with more than fi ve wins in such games. UConn has now won nine titles while Tennesse has won eight; no other team has more than two.

Undefeated NotesWith the win over No. 3 Louisville on 3/3, UConn completed its seventh undefeated regular sea-son, which include 1994-95, 1996-97, 2001-02, 2002-03, 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2013-14. Ad-ditionally, the Huskies rounded out the inaugural American Athletic Conference regular season with an 18-0 record, which marks the 10th UConn has gone undefeated in regular-season conference play.

UConn entered NCAA Tournament play with an unblemished record for the SIXTH time in school history.

The Huskies have now completed fi ve un-defeated national championship seasons; 1994-95, 2001-02, 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2013-14.

Huskies Extend Record With Seventh-Straight Final Four TripUConn extended its record of consecutive fi nal four appearances to seven following the win over Texas A&M on March 31. Stanford has the second-most prolifi c mark with fi ve-straight. UConn improved to 15-5 all-time in Regional Finals.

Another 30-Win CampaignThe Huskies secured their NINTH-STRAIGHT 30-win season on March 1 against Rutgers, which extends UConn’s NCAA record streak. Duke was the previous record holder with sev-en-consecutive 30-win seasons from 2001-07. UConn has won at least 30 games in a season 19 times, all since 1993-94. UConn has won 30-plus games in 19 of the past 21 seasons overall with the only exceptions coming in 1998-99 (29 wins) and 2004-05 (25).

The Huskies have now won their fi rst 30 games of a season for the SEVENTH time (1994-95, 1996-97, 2001-02, 2002-03, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2013-14).

Geno Auriemma has redefi ned the meaning of success in women’s college basketball in his 29 years as head coach of the University of Connecticut.

During his illustrious tenure, Auriemma has transformed the UConn program into the standard that all others are measured, both on and off the court.

Under his guidance, the Huskies have been transformed from a pro-gram with only one winning season, to its current state, which in-cludes nine national titles, 15 Final Fours, fi ve perfect seasons (1995, 2002, 2009, 2010, 2014) and 39 Conference titles, all since Auriem-ma’s arrival in 1985.

On the court, his success includes nine national championships, in-cluding a record 90-game winning streak and a spotless 40-0 mark during the 2013-14 campaign. Off the court, success means a fl aw-less, 100 percent graduation rate among four-year players and one of the most beloved and followed sports teams in the country.

This unmatched success, which is the standard for collegiate pro-grams nationally, was recognized with Auriemma’s induction into both the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (Springfi eld, Mass.) and the Women Basketball Hall of Fame (Knoxville, Tenn.) in 2006.

In addition, Auriemma recently fi nished a successful four-year term as he was named the head coach of the U.S. National Team, which won the gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Auriem-ma’s squad, which included six former Huskies, posted a spotless 8-0 record en route to the gold medal. Auriemma agreed to serve a second term as the National Team coach from 2013-16.

He is the only coach in women’s basketball history to guide a team to seven consecutive Final Four appearances.

Auriemma is a seven-time National Coach-of-the-Year and has been named the conference Coach-of-the-Year 10 times, including the 2013-14 honor.

He reached the 600, 700 and 800-win mark faster than any other coach in the history of college basketball.

UConn swept both the league regular season and tournament crowns in 16 different seasons - all since Auriemma has taken over the program’s reins.

Connecticut’s postseason success under Auriemma has been legend-ary as the Huskies have won the Conference Tournament crown in

17 of the last 21 seasons and boast a current streak of 21 consecu-tive NCAA Regional appearances.

Auriemma also guided UConn to its 19th 30-win season in 2013-14, all in the past 21 years.

The Huskies swept both the American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles in 2013-14 en route to a perfect 40-0 mark, the fi fth perfect season in the program’s history and its record ninth NCAA National Championship. UConn advanced to the Final Four for the seventh-consecutive season, which extended its own record for most consecutive Final Four tirps.

Three Huskies, Stefanie Dolson, Bria Hartley and Breanna Stewart, were selected to the WBCA/State Farm All-America Team and Stew-art was selected as the National Player of the Year by the Associated Press, the United States Basketabll Writers Association, the Atlantia Tip-Off Club (Naismith Trophy), espnW and was selected as the win-ner of the Honda Sports Award.

UConn captured its eighth national title in 2013 as Auriemma led the Huskies to a 35-4 record and a record sixth-straight appearance in the Final Four. Stefanie Dolson and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis were both honored as All-Americans while Breanna Stewart became only the fourth freshman ever to be honored as the Most Outstanding Performer of the Final Four.

The 2010-11 campaign saw the Huskies post an NCAA record 90-consecutive wins, which surpassed John Wooden’s UCLA teams’ iconic 88-game mark and put Conneticut even deeper in the national limelight. The team went on to fi nish 36-2 and post yet another BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament Championship and advanced to the 12th Final Four in program history.

The 2009-10 season saw the Huskies advance to their 11th Final Four and also marked the 10th time in the last 11 years that UConn has advanced to the NCAA Regional Final. The team put together its second-straight 39-0 season and enters the 2010-11 campaign on a record 78-game winning streak. The Huskies also swept the BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament crowns for the third year in a row.

Tina Charles and Maya Moore each earned All-America status with Charles winning the Wooden and Naismith Awards and being named Player of the Year by the Associated Press. Moore was honored with the Wade Trophy for the second-straight year by the Women’s Bas-ketball Coaches Association.

Connecticut made even more history in 2008-09, as it became the fi rst NCAA Division I basketball team (men’s or women’s) to go un-defeated and beat each of its opponents by at least a 10-point mar-gin.

The 2008-09 season saw UConn advance to its ninth NCAA Final Four and also marked the ninth time in the last 10 years overall that Connecticut has advanced to the NCAA Regional Final.

Connecticut had three players earn fi rst-team All-America status in 2008-09 as Renee Montgomery, Tina Charles and Maya Moore were each honored. Moore was also selected as the consensus national

player of the year.

As a freshman in 2007-08, Moore became the second straight Con-necticut player to be recognized as the National Freshman of the Year and also was selected as the fi rst ever freshman recipient (male or female) of the BIG EAST Player of the Year award. Tina Charles was honored in 2008.

The 2006-07 campaign saw the Huskies post a perfect 16-0 record in conference play - marking the sixth time that UConn posted an unblemished BIG EAST record under Auriemma.

The 2003-04 season was a historical one - even for the tradition-rich Connecticut program - as it became only the second program in NCAA history to win three consecutive national titles.

The road to their third straight title was a bumpy one at times for the Huskies, but with Auriemma’s leadership the team never wavered from achieving their ultimate goal, despite encountering a few de-tours along the way.

In 2003-04, the Huskies tied the NCAA-record for consecutive home court wins at 69 straight games and won the BIG EAST Regular Sea-son Title for the 11th consecutive season.

Senior standout Diana Taurasi was named Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four for the second straight year and was also honored as the Naismith National Player of the Year for the second time in her career, in addition to being the recipient of the Honda Award and the Nancy Lieberman Award.

The 2002-03 season, despite an infl ux of new faces, mirrored Au-riemma’s teams of the past. The squad continued the program’s win-ning tradition by bringing home UConn’s fourth women’s basketball national championship and also broke the NCAA Division I women’s record for most consecutive victories with 70-straight. Connecticut shattered the previous mark of 54 set by Louisiana Tech with its 55th-straight win on January 18, 2003, versus Georgetown in the Hartford Civic Center.

For the fourth time in UConn history, the Huskies fi nished the regu-lar season undefeated with a perfect 29-0 record. They went on to capture UConn’s 10th straight BIG EAST regular season title and con-tinued their winning ways into the postseason, making their seventh Final Four appearance.

After two competitive games in the Final Four, the Huskies earned their fourth NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship and became only the third school to do so in back-to-back years. Junior Diana Taurasi was named the 2003 Final Four Most Outstanding Player, while freshman Ann Strother was named to the Final Four All-Tour-nament team. It was the fi rst time in women’s or men’s basketball history that a program earned the national championship without a senior on its roster.

Accolades for the 2002-03 season continued to pour in. Auriemma was named the BIG EAST Coach of the Year as well as the United States Basketball Writer’s Association (USBWA) Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year and Associated Press Coach of the Year. Taurasi garnered Player of the Year honors from the Associated Press, USB-

WA and Naismith and earned the Wade Trophy and the NCAA Honda Award for the nation’s most outstanding women’s basketball player. Taurasi earned her second straight Kodak All-America award and was named Associated Press First Team All-America for her outstanding play and leadership during UConn’s 37-1 run through the 2002-03 championship season.

Auriemma’s 2001-02 squad recorded the second undefeated season in program history with a 39-0 mark and registered UConn’s third national championship and sixth Final Four appearance. Auriemma’s teams also won the 1995 and 2000 national titles.

Featuring Kodak All-Americans Sue Bird, Swin Cash and Diana Taura-si, the 2001-02 Huskies posted an NCAA record-tying 39 wins and a 35.4 average margin of victory, another NCAA record. His team also earned its 12th BIG EAST regular season title and 11th BIG EAST tournament crown as the Huskies made their 14th consecutive NCAA appearance.

The 1999-2000 national championship season included a then-school-record 19-straight weeks ranked No. 1 in the national polls and a fi nal record of 36-1.

UConn captured the program’s fi rst national title in 1994-95, when Auriemma led the Huskies to a perfect 35-0 record. UConn was only the second team in Division I women’s basketball history to go un-defeated en route to the national championship. The Huskies be-came the fi rst unbeaten team in NCAA history (all divisions, men or women) to win 35 games in a season.

Under Auriemma’s direction, UConn ranked second nationally in Divi-sion I victories in the 1990’s (Jan. 1, 1990-Dec. 31, 1999) with 290 total wins. The Huskies were also second in the nation in total win-ning percentage (.860) in the decade as well as establishing a BIG EAST record for conference victories (158).

After inheriting a Husky program that had just one winning season in its 11-year history, Auriemma has posted 23 winning seasons since arriving at UConn in August of 1985. The Huskies also hold every BIG EAST single-game and single-season home-court attendance record.

Since 1988-89, the fi rst season the Huskies earned a BIG EAST regular season championship, UConn ranks No. 1 among all BIG EAST teams in league regular season wins (321-30, a .915 winning percentage). Coupled with UConn’s 55-6 (.902) record in BIG EAST Tournament action since 1989.

The development of national caliber student-athletes has been Au-riemma’s forte during his UConn coaching tenure. Every recruited freshman that has played for Auriemma at Connecticut and complet-ed her eligibility at UConn has obtained her undergraduate degree. Impressively, since the 1991-92 season, 40 of UConn’s starters - 25 different players - have been on the Dean’s List.

Among these 25 players are four of the most highly acclaimed wom-en’s basketball players ever - Rebecca Lobo, Jennifer Rizzotti, Kara Wolters and Sue Bird. All four of these student-athletes earned As-sociated Press National Player of the Year honors and won the Wade Trophy and Honda Broderick Awards.

Auriemma has coached 16 First Team WBCA/State Farm All-Ameri-cans, with the most recent selections of Stefanie Dolson and Kalee-na Mosqueda-Lewis in 2013. This includes 11 consecutive seasons (1993-2004) where at least one UConn player earned Kodak/State Farm All-America honors.

UConn’s home court record also stands as one of the most impres-sive in the nation. In Auriemma’s tenure, UConn is 409-37 at home against collegiate opponents, including a record 99-game winning streak from 2007-12.

By building such a dynamic program, Huskymania fan support and enthusiasm is at an all-time high. UConn was second nationally in total home attendance for all Division I women’s programs in 2009-10, attracting 203,648 fans for 20 home dates in Harry A. Gampel Pavilion and the XL Center. The Huskies have sold out 122 home games since 1997.

Prior to taking the UConn position, Auriemma served as the primary assistant women’s coach at the University of Virginia under head coach Debbie Ryan from 1981-85. He helped lead the Cavaliers to the Atlantic Coast Conference championship in 1984.

Before his Virginia position, Auriemma was assistant women’s bas-ketball coach at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia with then-head coach Jim Foster (now Ohio State women’s basketball head coach). He also coached boys’ basketball at his high school alma mater, Bishop Kenrick High School in Norristown, Pa., from 1979-81.

Auriemma has found success even beyond the college coaching ranks due to his involvement with USA Basketball. In the summer of 2000, Auriemma represented the United States at the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, as an assistant coach of the gold medal winning Olympic Team.

That same summer, Auriemma led the 2000 USA Junior World Cham-pionship team to a gold medal in the COPABA Junior World Cup Qual-ifying Tournament in Argentina. Auriemma and the squad advanced to the 2001 FIBA Junior World Championship for women held in the Czech Republic in July of 2001, and returned with the bronze. In April of 1996, he was co-head coach of the National Senior All-Stars when the All-Stars met the United States National Team.

During the summer of 1996, he served as coach of the USA Basket-ball Select Team in Colorado Springs, Colo. In January of 1995, Au-riemma was named an assistant coach of the USA World University Games Women’s Basketball Team, which played in Fukuoka, Japan, in the summer of 1995; due to personal confl icts, however, he had to relinquish that position. He also served as head coach of the West Team at the 1993 U.S. Olympic Festival in San Antonio, Texas.

In the summer of 2002, Auriemma was selected as a member of the inaugural induction class to the New England Basketball Hall of Fame and he was enshrined in the Italian-American Hall of Fame in November 2007.

In addition to his coaching duties, Auriemma serves on several na-tional basketball committees. He was a four-year member of the Kodak All-America Selection Committee and was named chair of that committee in January of 1992. He has also been a voting member of
