MiM is a program for persons with early to mid-stage dementia and their care partners; it is an eight week program which is delivered by local Alzheimer Societies, in partnership with municipal recreation departments, Older Adult Centres or similar community-centres. The project will expand the program to 12 more communities across Ontario. CAAWS $140,000 Building a Foundation of Physical Literacy for Ontario Women 55-70+ This project will aim at skills development for 1,000 women 55-70+, providing a fun and age-appropriate environment where women can learn fundamental movement skills, try out a variety of sports and physical activities, and have the opportunity to join a program they can participate in regularly. Alzheimer Society of Ontario

$317,000 Minds in Motion

This project will implement the Minds in Motion (MiM) program across Ontario. MiM is a program for persons with early to mid-stage dementia and their care partners; it is an eight week program which is delivered by local Alzheimer Societies, in partnership with municipal recreation departments, Older Adult Centres or similar community-centres. The project will expand the program to 12 more communities across Ontario.

This project will aim at skills development for 1,000 women 55-70+, providing a fun and age-appropriate environment where women can learn fundamental movement skills, try out a variety of sports and physical activities, and have the opportunity to join a program they can participate in regularly.

FitSpirit / Fillactive $175,000 FitClub

This project will expand the FitClub program across the GTA and target new regions throughout the province, engaging 5,500 participants in the process. This will include expansion into Ottawa, as well as two rural communities in the north and west, which will be reached through the newly developed self-managed remote program.

This project will merge existing infrastructure and ski programming offered through Freestyle Skiing Ontario (FSO) and Alpine Ontario Association (AOA) and create a superior ski program for young Ontario skiers. In total, the project will create nearly 2,000 opportunities for participation.

Golf Association of Ontario

$100,845 She Swings She Scores This project will provide over 5,700 girls aged 6-12 a chance to switch up their hockey sticks for golf clubs and learn a new sport with their teammates.

Hike Ontario $65,200 Seniors' Hike Initiative

This project will offer the Safe Hikers and Certified Hike Leaders program once a year each during the two year grant period and train seniors to hike safely. The project will help to create 75 qualified leaders while engaging 675 new participants.

Hockey Development Centre for Ontario

$80,000 CanSkate for Hockey

This project will help HDCO to develop a partnership with Skate Ontario in order to deliver a quality skating skills program to 750 of our young hockey players (ages 5-10) at practice.

Kidney Foundation of Canada

$188,000 Active Living for Life

This project will develop, implement and evaluate a community-based active living program to increase rates of physical activity and exercise, and decrease barriers to physical activity among 250 individuals living with kidney disease.

Motivate Canada $215,000 Motivate Canada Physical Literacy for Females Project

Through community action projects, led by trained female youth leaders known as Community Champions, 435 young women and girls will be provided with opportunities to participate in sport and physical activity that is safe, inclusive and fun.

$44,600 OBSA Sports Day Tour

This project will engage 8 communities across Ontario to provide unique sport programs for youth with a visual impairment and will leave a legacy in the communities through trained sports leaders and specialized blind-sports equipment.

Ontario Fencing Association

$31,794 Fence-Fit 2015

This project will allow for the creation of a standardized curriculum for Active Start and Fundamentals for various age groups using the principles of Fundamental Movement Skills to ensure that they have the proper grounding in physical literacy. It will also create 34 jobs, which will continue to exist following the conclusion of the project.

Fitness for Breath (A Community-Based Exercise Maintenance Program for People Living with Chronic Lung Disease)

This project will develop, implement and evaluate an innovative program model for exercise maintenance for 200 people living with chronic lung disease; in partnership with community-based fitness centres and with the support of pulmonary rehabilitation programs.

Ontario Sailing Association

$108,000 Get on the Water Program

This project will implement the Get on the Water Program - a first contact program for sailing and rowing programs aimed at all ages in CS4L stages 1-3 and 7, that offers high quality instruction and mentorship to 2,000 new participants in communities throughout Ontario.

$164,000 Physical Literacy Assessment for Youth Research Project

This project will evaluate the use of the Physical Literacy Assessment for Youth (PLAY) Tools which are meant to improve our population's level of physical literacy. Directed at individuals aged seven and up, the PLAY Tools determine gaps in physical literacy development.

These programs will promote physical literacy and decrease barriers, creating over 4,500 participation opportunities.

Toronto Christie Refugee Welcome Centre

$23,741 After-School Fitness Program for Refugee Children

This project will provide 200+ refugee children the opportunity to develop fundamental movement skills and to learn about and participate in different sports. This project will also build leadership skills within the community and introduce families living in the shelter to the importance of and the fun in physical activity.

Barrie City of Barrie $32,276 Barrie Active for Life

This project will build the City of Barrie's capacity to increase participation and better serve adults, older adults and seniors by offering new fitness, aquatics and dance programming, purchase new equipment, train staff and increase outreach and marketing targeted to this demographic. The project will also feature the training of 100 new qualified leaders.

Mississauga City of Mississauga $154,769 Play in the Park

This project will enable the City to implement a "Play in the Park" program to provide 24 accessible summer physical activity opportunities for 1,680 children in Mississauga, giving them the opportunity to increase active play and develop fundamental movement skills in a safe environment.

This project will train 120 youth in the areas of leadership and physical literacy to provide recreation activities to 240 children with and without disabilities. The project will run for a total of 40 weeks providing service to 12 groups of 20 in 10 week sessions per group.

Thornhill Education Arts Canada $169,500 JiggiJump@OSC: Participate • Educate • Motivate

This project will develop a new JiggiJump Stage at the Ontario Science Centre, offering a newly designed vigorous physical activity program for 125,000 visiting school children. Additionally, by visiting the Human Edge exhibition at the Centre, parents and children will have the opportunity to engage in a physical literacy learning experience.

This project will add new practice and training time to build King Speed Skating Club's capacity and encourage physical literacy by teaching the fundamentals of speed skating to 40 new participants.

$22,897 'Let's Move & Groove, Sheridan'

This project will provide exciting opportunities for ethnic communities in Mississauga to develop physical literacy skills and interest in community sport, recreation and dance. In addition to dance class participation, 60 trainers will participate in workshops to promote and teach dance to students. The program is designed to align with CS4L Stages 1, 2, 3 & 7.

This project will promote the sport of cycling for active transportation by hosting the first York Regional Bike Summit and teach cycling physical literacy skills by offering Kids Safe Cycling to 2,000 elementary school children and Junior Cycling Instructor skills and safety training to secondary and post-secondary school students. The project's aim is to reach 50,000 participants.

Etobicoke Rexdale Community Health Centre

This project will promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle by encouraging and teaching 210 youth to become more active in sport and recreation by reducing barriers and increasing access to recreational opportunities in low income neighbourhoods.

Toronto Riverdale Immigrant Women's Centre

This project will engage approximately 30 low-income older/senior women in gentle fitness sessions and knowledge building workshops to increase participation in recreation and physical literacy.

Toronto Scadding Court Community Centre

This project will plan, implement and evaluate the Healthy Foundations curriculum (to be implemented for a full year at three different sites) and the training of the early years staff to implement new physical activity components into two well-established and successful programs. Relevant staff will be trained, a toolkit will be created for future use, and 240 participants will be engaged.

This project will recruit and train 10 youth to become apprentice coaches to plan and provide sport and recreation activities for 150 children between the ages of 6 to 12 in the west end of downtown Toronto.

Toronto Toronto Inner-City Rugby Foundation

$71,400 TIRF Mini & Girls Rugby Project

This two year project will increase participation in rugby by 320 children aged 6 to 12 years and 200 girls aged 13 to 19 years. Participants will learn fundamental movement skills and sport skills including agility, balance, coordination, and speed.

Hanmer Town of Ajax $33,716 Viva Pan Am Ajax – Pan Am-Bassadors Program

This project will create a full volunteer management program for the Town of Ajax in order to manage the 400-500 volunteers required to deliver the baseball and softball events for the Toronto Pan Am Games in 2015.

Orillia Town of Penetanguishene

The project will enable the City of Penetanguishene to hire two project leaders to develop and deliver a variety of recreational summer programs to 300 of the city's under-served youth. Programs include yoga, Pilates, Zumba, skateboarding, beach volleyball, 3-on-3 basketball, dance styles, hiking, swimming and outdoor adventure.

This project will address the low activity rate of at least 80 children living with a disability in Toronto by removing financial, recruitment and transportation barriers for participants to learn physical literacy skills in an accessible, barrier free environment.

Mississauga Volunteer Mississauga Brampton Caledon (Volunteer MBC)

$19,434 Board Boot Camp

This project will enable 405 sport volunteers from 92 sport groups in Mississauga to participate in Board governance workshops to increase their capacity to deliver high quality programs. An online training tutorial will be developed to further increase access to the training and all workshop materials will be posted online and broadly shared with community groups.

North York York Mavericks Water Polo Club

$19,448 Summer BASE (Basic Aquatic Sport Education) Camp

This project will enable children (ages 6-12) to develop fundamental movements and aquatic sport skills by providing affordable introduction to water polo sessions and provide training to youth to enable them to run clinics for day camps, weekly sessions and water polo games for the community.

This project will teach basketball and soccer to 120 disadvantaged children and youth. Additionally, two program leaders will be hired and seven leaders will undertake Fundamental Skills Training.

Brockville Brockville and Area YMCA

This project two year project will offer recreational activities to children ages 4-12 and seniors in five nearby rural communities, which will remove barriers to participation such as transportation.

This project will work to create a healthier youth community in the south western portion of Renfrew County by offering year round sport and recreation activities for 125 children and youth aged 8-16 years that focus on teaching physical literacy through the development of fundamental movement skills.

This project will build on physical literacy skills by teaching children and youth in the Kingston area the fundamentals of swimming and increasing participation in this sport. The project will engage 320 participants, 120 of which will be new participants.

Perth Lanark County Therapeutic Riding Program

$31,448 Special Project - Sustainability Training

This project will contribute to the organization's legacy and increase its capacity to offer additional programming to people with disabilities by training 4 trainers as certified assistant trainers, train 171 staff and volunteers in Fundamental Movement Skills then incorporate these skills within the programming currently being offered.

This project will connect seniors to a more active lifestyle by strengthening and expanding on opportunities in both sport and recreation, with a focus on activities that improve fundamental movement skills. It aims to offer 1,500 participation opportunities.

This project will bring multi-sport and recreational programming for 1300 participants of all ages through activities focused on active play, physical literacy training and FUNdamentals as well as off-season training and fitness and rehabilitation programs in the Municipality of Trent Hills.

This project will deliver three programs in Ottawa: I Love to Play Hockey, I Love to Play Basketball and I Love to Mentor for Inuit youth between 14-18 years old. The first two programs will use a CS4L framework to help participants develop fundamental skills and become active for life. The third program will provide participants opportunities to develop leadership skills such as Standard First Aid/CPR.

This project will assist the City of Kenora in offering pre-requisite life guard training to 128 youth to ensure a feeder group to maintain aquatic safety and programs for the community.

The project will assist the township of Manitouwadge create new recreation drop-in programs targeting 400 youth/children. The activities offered will build capacity, increase participation, and teach physical literacy to participants.

This project assist the Marathon Figure Skating Club offer a "Fitness for Life" program for children and youth ages 3-16 to develop fundamental movement skills and physical literacy through activities both on and off the ice.
