Dear Colleague:We look forward to seeing you at the 3rd Skin of Color Symposium to be held at the breathtaking Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Hotel in the Baltimore Harbor in Maryland, October 25-27, 2013. This year’s meeting will include a roster of outstanding national speakers addressing cutaneous disease of skin of color on topics including disorders of pigmentation, infl ammatory skin diseases, health disparities, aging, alopecia, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, keloids and wound healing. The latest breakthroughs, current state of research and clinical challenges will be addressed. New to this year’s program will be a live patient viewing and discussion.

TARGET AUDIENCEThis conference is designed for dermatologists, plastic surgeons, primary care physicians, physician assistants, residents, students, and professionals with an interest in skin research in skin of color.
COURSE OBJECTIVES• Identify, diagnose and treat rare or serious dermatological
diseases that are more prevalent in skin of color.
• Translate research about dermatological diseases that are most commonly seen in skin of color and apply those fi ndings to clinical practice.
ACCREDITATIONThis activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of Eastern Virginia Medical School and Hampton University’s Skin of Color Research Institute. Eastern Virginia Medical School is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
CREDIT DESIGNATIONEastern Virginia Medical School designates this live activity for a maximum of 11.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

• Develop the skills needed to prepare competitive, compelling, and successful grant proposals.
• Identify funding agencies and determine which one is most appropriate for a specifi c proposal.
• Relate the steps of grant submission and the peer review processs.
• List important aspects of grant management that can be utilized in specifi c proposals.
