My selection was the 644 that year, I liked her so much I went back to their sale two years later and found 6031. What a find! Definite sale feature here. We have sold several full sibs to 8056 over the past few years, both bulls and heifers. This was the one we kept to work with due to width of skeleton, fleshing ability, and attractive appearance. Her dam was a very impressive Traveler 6807 daughter that came out of the best cow family pro-duced at Coleman’s until the Donna cows came to light. 8056 milks extremely well, as did her dam, and the only time she was ever flushed she made 17 transferable embryo’s. She is being of-fered here in the prime of her life only because she is not being flushed and worked here the way she deserves to be due to other donor cows being worked in ahead of her. This would definitely be one of my top choices if I were to advise somebody on buying a heifer to just have a market-able calf every year or to start their kid a cow herd. 2007 has an excellent disposition, is extremely efficient and deep sided from fore-rib to flank. She’s not a wild necked show heifer, but she will be one of the most consistent producers on the place if she’s anything like her dam & grandam. She may not be one of the highest priced females of the day, but if I were to pick one to keep for a cow to get the job done year in and year out this just might be the one.

256 is probably the stoutest and most complete of all our quarter-blood heifers. She does have white socks, but that is far outweighed by the fact that her dam is our best quarter-blood cow. She has an absolutely perfect ud-der design, is phenotypically flawless, and regardless of the fact that she is a relatively small cow, she will always wean one of the heaviest calves. Couple that with the fact that 256’s grandmother has raised a calf every year for 14 years, and her great granddam produced until she was 18. I would say there is plenty of fertility, longevity, and qual-ity bred in here, and lets not forget the Donna 386 on the top side of this pedigree, which just puts the cherry on this sundae!
