Charter by the Grand Lodge as a Lodge of the Order
The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the USA: The Order
Grand Lodge Provides for our Very Existence
Who or What Is The Grand Lodge?
Best way to answer that is to look at the three (3) Branches of the Grand Lodge and where
and to whom the Powers of Governance are vested
Powers of Governance
Legislative: Vested in Grand LodgeIts PGERsIts Officers, Members of Committees, & DDGERsAll PERs in good standing in their respective LodgesER or PER Representative of Subordinate Lodges
Executive: Vested in the Grand Exalted Ruler
Judicial: Grand & Subordinate Forums

Recap1. We exist through the Charter granted by Grand Lodge. Lose your charter and you no longer exist. Your duty as officers is to protect your Charter .2. Should your Charter be yanked it would be done by the Grand Exalted Ruler through an Executive Order and by the hand of his Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler in your District (the District Deputy or DDGER).3. The above will only happen if it is requested by the PGER State Co-sponsors Grafton, Bates, & Smith.4. You and your members can write all the complaint letters you want to the Grand Exalted Ruler (GER) and the Grand Secretary. However, please understand this:
A. If not signed they will be disposed of without even reading!
B. The GER will probably never read your letters as all his mail goes to his Administrative Assistant who immediately redirects the letters to the respective State Sponsor(s).
Is there ANYONE who still does not understand the Elks Chain of Command?
