Camp is held at the Nebraska State 4-H Camp in Halsey, NE, which is located in the largest man made forest in the United States. It is a week of fun and learning for everyone. This year there were around 70 campers from all over Nebraska and East- ern Wyoming. Many speakers attended camp throughout the week to teach the kids about the electrical industry and on Wednesday attendees toured Gerald Gentleman Station in Suther- land, NE and Kingsley Power Plant in Oglala, NE. The week was not all about learning though. The kids got to canoe down the Middle Loup River, sing around the campfire, have a sports tour- nament, show off their talents in a talent show, and attend a dance. By the end of the week all the kids (and adults) had made many new friends. Brooke strongly encourages NEA high school age youth to sign up for camp next year. It is a wonderful experi- ence and, you never know, you may discover that you want to pur- sue a career in the electrical industry after high school. Pictured above is Brooke’s Team (Team Green Glow). Camp is split into 8 teams to make things operate more smoothly. NEA will be closed on Monday, September 2nd for the Labor Day holiday. NEA employees will be present- ing a safety demo at the Nio- brara County Health Fair in Oct. They are also scheduling to be at both the Sioux County and Niobrara County schools during the week of Oct 14th. Plan to attend and learn about electri- cal safety.
