2.1 The GAT(PGT)-2013 (Online Admission Test) is conducted for admission to the following M.Tech. programsoffered at Visakhapatnam Campus.

1.1 The GAT(UGTP)-2013 (Online Admission Test)* is conducted for admission to the following programs

Pass in Intermediate or 10+2 examination with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (50% aggregate marksfor B.Arch./B.Pharm.) in Mathematics or Biology, Physics & Chemistry and First Class or equivalent grade inthe qualifying examination in single attempt from a recognized Central / State Board or its equivalent either in2013 or 2012 and Rank obtained in GAT(UGTP)-2013.

Note: # Candidates seeking admission to B.Arch., program should qualify in NATA examination.

1.4 Details of GAT (UGTP) 2013:The duration of the test is 2 hours. The test consists of three sections:

All questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions), each question has four options out of which oneis the correct answer. Each correct answer will be awarded 3 marks. 1 mark will be deducted from the score foreach wrong answer. The unanswered questions will receive nil marks.

3.1 The GAT(PGP)-2013 (Online Admission Test) is conducted for admission to the following M.Pharmacyprograms offered at Visakhapatnam Campus.

4. General Information4.1. GAT - 2013 (GITAM Admission Test) will be conducted online for admission to UG and PG Programs of

Technology and Pharmacy offered at Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru Campuses.

4.2. GAT- 2013 Online Tests

4.3. How to ApplyCandidates can apply in any one of the following methods:

i) Apply online at www.gitam.edu

ii) Applications can also be obtained by post from Director-Admissions by sending a request on plain papergiving the candidate’s name with complete mailing address accompanied by DD for 1100/- ( 700/- forfemale candidates) drawn in favour of GITAM University payable at Visakhapatnam on any scheduled bank.Request for applications by post will be accepted upto 22 nd March, 2013.

iii) Applications are available throughout India in

The filled - in application along with Demand Draft for 1,000/- ( 600/- for female candidates), drawn in favorof GITAM UNIVERSITY, payable at Visakhapatnam on any scheduled bank, should reach Director-Admissions,GITAM UNIVERSITY, Gandhi Nagar Campus, Rushikonda, Visakhapatnam - 530 045, Andhra Pradesh, INDIAon or before 29th March, 2013.

4.4. GAT-2013 ONLINE TEST CENTRES:

i) The University will conduct online admission test at the following 32 test centres.

ii) The final list of centres will be announced to candidates through the website www.gitam.edu. The Universityreserves the right to cancel any test centre and in such a case, candidates allotted to these centres will beaccommodated in alternate test centres.

iii) Candidates are advised to note that depending on the response, tests may be conducted only for a limitednumber of days in some of the centres. The final list of test centres, venues and days of test will be announcedonly after all the applications are received and candidates will be informed of the same through the universitywebsite so that the candidates can choose their centre, date and time for the test as per their convenienceand availability of slots in any of these centres. Candidates should indicate 3 different test centres, in orderof preference, in the application for consideration by the University.

iv) The candidate has to register his/her name in the registration counter at the test centre. The e-hall tickets ofthe candidates will be verified to satisfy the identity of each candidate. The candidate has to produce any oneof the following for photo identification: passport / driving licence / EC voter ID card / IT PAN card / school orcollege photo bearing ID card. Each candidate will be given a seat with a computer. Candidate must take theallotted seat at least 15minutes before the test commences.

v) Candidates will not be allowed to carry any textual material, printed or written, bits of papers or any othermaterial except the e-hall ticket into the test hall. Candidates are also not permitted to bring calculators, sliderules, Clark tables and electronic watches with facilities of calculators, laptop or palmtop computers, personalstereo systems, walkie- talkie sets, mobile phones, paging devices or any other object/device that is likely tobe of unfair assistance.

vi) No candidate will be allowed to go outside the test hall till the completion of the entire duration of the test.Once a candidate leaves the hall, he/she cannot re-enter under any circumstances.

vii) Smoking is strictly prohibited. Tea, coffee, cold drinks / snacks are not allowed into the test hall. There are nowaiting facilities for family and friends at the test centre.

viii) Candidates should maintain perfect silence. All actions of the candidate in the test hall will be closelymonitored using web cam and closed circuit cameras. Any conversation or gesticulation or disturbance inthe test hall shall be deemed as misbehavior and if any candidate is found using unfair means orimpersonation, his/her candidature will be cancelled and they will be liable to be debarred from takingexamination either permanently or for a specified period, as decided by the University. The University reservesthe right to withhold result of such candidates.

ix) Candidates must sign the attendance sheet in the presence of the invigilator. The candidate must fully obeythe rules of the test centres, otherwise he / she will be automatically debarred from the test.

x) In rare and unlikely event of a technical failure during the test, the candidate may be required to take the testagain.

4.5. About GAT - 2013

i) Candidates should arrive at the test centre one hour before the scheduled time. There will be an on-siteorientation prior to the start of the test. If a candidate arrives after the on- site orientation begins, he/she willnot be allowed to take the test. If candidates do not report on time, they are likely to miss some of the generalinstructions relating to the test. The test hall will be opened 30 minutes before the commencement of thetest.

ii) The candidate is expected to have basic familiarity with use of computer like use of keyboard and mouseoperation. It is the responsibility of the candidate to acquire these skills before appearing for the test andthe University cannot take any responsibility for the same.

iii) The questions are generated from a large question bank and all the candidates will get different questionsets. An expert committee will ensure that the question sets are of comparable difficulty level, content,question type etc. In this matter, the decision of the University is final and binding on the candidate.

iv) The candidate must ensure that the computer allotted to him/her is switched on and any problem with thecomputer is to be intimated to the Proctor immediately. All the questions will be in English medium only. Allthe questions will be of multiple choice.

v) Each question carries 3 marks. Each correct answer will be awarded 3 marks. 1 mark will be deducted fromthe score for each wrong answer. The unanswered questions will receive no marks.

vi) Score Report: On completion of the test, the computer will display the result in terms of number of totalcorrect answers and wrong answers, with the score.

vii) No student will be allowed to repeat the test in the same year.

viii) The ranks secured by the candidates will be announced within 2 weeks from the date of completion ofGAT-2013.

4.6. Merit List for Admissions

i) The merit position of the candidate for admission will be based on the score obtained in the GAT-2013subject to the rule of reservation as per UGC guidelines / norms as applicable to the University. A candidatequalified in GAT-2013 will be eligible for admission only if he/she fulfils the requirement of minimum marksin the qualifying examination as per the eligibility criteria.

ii) 25% of seats are reserved for meritorious students from Karnataka State for admission atBengaluru Campus.

4.7. Direct Admission to Board Toppers

First rank holders of the central and all state board examinations - 2013, equivalent to 10+2 will be givenadmission to the program of their choice, without appearing for the GAT examination subject to theirfulfilling the prescribed eligibility criteria mentioned above. However they have to submit an applicationseeking admission to B.Tech. programs.

4.8. Special Provision for Female Candidates

GAT-2013 registration fee for female candidates is `600/- only. Further, the University will try its best toaccommodate all female candidates at the test centre of their first preference.

4.9. Financial Assistance

The University offers financial assistance to the deserving meritorious candidates as follows:

i) Merit Scholarships will be offered by way of tuition fee waiver for top 100 rankers of GAT (UGTP) 2013.

11-100 50 %

The continuation of these scholarships for the subsequent years will depend upon their academicperformance.

ii) Merit–cum-Means Scholarships will be awarded to 5% of students in each department of the academicinstitutes of the University @ 2,000/- per month depending upon merit of the student and income of theparent.

iii) Stipends / Teaching Assistantships will be offered to meritorious students of M.Tech. & M.Pharmacy dependingupon the need and availability of suitable candidates, subject to a maximum of three students in eachdepartment @ 5,000/- per month.

Important points to note :

i. Hall Tickets will not be sent by post.

ii. The University is not responsible for delay in receipt or loss of Application.

iii. In all matters in the conduct of GAT–2013, the decision of the Vice-Chancellor will be final. All disputespertaining to GAT–2013 shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Visakhapatnam.

iv. Every effort has been made by GITAM University to ensure the correctness of the information provided in thisdocument. However, in case of a conflict in interpretation, the decision of GITAM University is final andbinding on those who apply for GAT2013.
