From Vass, N.C.

“I believe the DNA has something

to offer every member of our or-

ganization. I feel the members are

the ‘grassroots’ of the organiza-

tion. Members are the reason we

exist, and should be the driving

force for all of our decision mak-

ing for the direction of the DNA…

as President-Elect I would like to

continue and further the oppor-

tunities for all of our members.

Reaching new members, educating

all members, expanding our knowl-

edge and expertise (becoming the

dermatology ‘knowledge base’ for

our patients and other health care

professionals), and mentoring op-

portunities for future DNA leaders

are very important aspects that I

would like to be involved in making

happen within our organization.”

From Littleton, MA

“The DNA is on the beginning

edge of growth and change in

several key areas, including our

journal, the Nurse Practitioner So-

ciety, enhanced recognition of the

LPN role, continuous updates for

RNs and medical assistants, and of

course the website. The rewards

for service in our national nursing

organization can be measured in

feedback and appreciation from

the membership, and in knowledge

and life skills, outside of medicine

and nursing, gained from the expe-

rience.”

From Nashville, TN

“In my early nursing, I learned the

valuable lesson of including all the

health care team members in an

inclusive approach to care, and ul-

timately I approach my role in the

DNA with a similar collaborative

goal. We come from a variety of

areas within dermatology, but each

bringing a wealth of knowledge and

experience. I am a phototherapy

nurse with an active role in general

dermatology, patient education and

research. It is imperative to partner

with phototherapy nurses, nurse

researchers, nurse managers, nurse

practitioners, nurse aestheticians,

and MOHS surgical nurses to in-

corporate our resources into our

unified organization.”
