ProgramsDomestic Violence The Domestic Violence Program provides safety planning,

court accompaniment, advocacy, counseling and support

groups and connection with community resources serving

976 individuals in the past year. We provide in-home

advocacy for families in our 11 supportive housing units.

Last year, 150 people stayed in shelter for an average of

38 days.

Children’s Services

Shelterhouse served 220 adolescents and children who

were sexually abused or affected by domestic violence.

They received support to aid recovery and learned self-

awareness, safety skills and empowerment.

Alternatives to Violence Services

This program helps participants recognize and change

violent thinking and behavioral patterns and learn positive

individuals participated in the Alternatives to Violence

Program.

Sexual Assault The Sexual Assault Program includes free services for crisis

intervention, court accompaniment, advocacy, counseling,

therapy groups and medical forensic exams through the

community-based Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE)

program. This program served 55 individuals and our

prevention and education programs reached over 14,000

Community Outreach and Prevention

Shelterhouse sponsors, coordinates and hosts many events

during both Domestic Violence Awareness and Sexual

Assault Awareness months, in concert with local churches,

professionals and companies. By reaching out to local

schools, we are able to provide preventive education to over

400 adolescents.

The 100 Men Campaign provided an opportunity

for men to take a stand to be positive role models

and help to end domestic and sexual violence. Financial

support from the program will be used to raise awareness

and fund educational and preventive programs.

Chefs for Shelterhouse allowed local chefs to

demonstrate their culinary skills and their support to end

domestic and sexual violence. The event was held at the

Midland Center for the Arts.

Girls on the Run offered an after school program at 14 different locations in 2013, serving 454 girls. The

program helps build character and increases self esteem,

improves body image and increases physical activity in

'(#"5&'("1!%(&-2'(&%"+5)&%#"3,E&F()&*"1%"+G&6!3G#$+'),&
