Service Leaders

Scott Bersaglia (DMA, The University of Texas at Austin) is Founder and Music Director of the Sacred Winds Ensemble and Founder of Sacred Winds Ministries. He is also Chair of the Department of Humanities and Director of Bands for Pikeville Independent Schools. Prior conducting appointments include positions at Campbellsville University, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary Orchestra, and The University of Michigan. A Hazard native, he now lives in Prestonsburg with his wife, Jennifer, and their daughters, Isabella Matea and Emmaline Grace.

Daryl Cornett (PhD in Church History, The Southern Baptist Theological Semi-nary) became the twentieth pastor of the First Baptist Church of Hazard, Kentucky on August 17, 2008. Previously he was Associate Professor of Church History at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, TN. Daryl also serves as a chaplain in the United States Air Force Reserve, holding the rank of Major. A native Kentuckian, he was born in Hazard and grew up in Lexington. He and his wife Cindy have two children: Justin, who is sixteen, and Libby, who is nine.

Musicians

Jennifer Bersaglia (MM, Indiana University) holds an active piano and vocal stu-dio at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg where her students regularly re-ceive placement in Kentucky’s All-State Choirs, Governors School for the Arts, and college/university scholarships. She also serves as accompanist for the Kentucky Baptist Convention Women’s Chorale. Previous positions include The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, the University of Pikeville, The University of Michi-gan, and Indiana University. A Paintsville native, she now lives in Prestonsburg with her husband, Scott, and their daughters, Isabella Matea and Emmaline Grace.

Tonya Castle (MEd, Morehead State University) of Louisa, Kentucky, is Music Teacher and Choir Director at Louisa Middle School. In addition to her collegiate studies, she has completed work in music and voice in Salzburg, Austria. She currently serves as Music Director at her church and is active on the local tourism board. She and her husband, ___, live on their beautiful farm where they were married this past summer.

Mark Hopkins (BME, Morehead State University) is currently Director of Bands at Valley Middle School and Shelby Valley High School in Pike County where he has been teaching since 2010. Mr. Hopkins is currently pursuing a Masters of Music Education from MSU. Mr. Hopkins currently serves as Jazz Education Chairman for District Nine of the Kentucky Music Educators Association and he was recently selected as the District’s 2013-14 Middle School Teacher of the Year.

John Linker (MM, Chicago Musical College, Roosevelt University) has served as Organist and Choirmaster of the Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal) in Lexington, Kentucky since 2001. The choir program has performed in both national and international venues, including Atlanta, Chicago, New York, as well as four English Cathedral residency invitations, respectively. Mr. Linker is currently pursuing the Doctor of Music Arts Degree at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. His teachers include Robert Reeves, Richard Hoskins, David Schrader, and Roberta Gary. Mr. Linker is married to Lexington native Molly McCann Linker, and both are proud parents to their daughter, Lila.

Frances Lotz (BME, Morehead State University) currently serves as Director of Bands for Johns Creek and Mullins schools in Pike County where she has been teaching for the past four years. In April, Ms. Lotz was named the 2012-13 Middle School Music Teacher for Ninth District of the Kentucky Music Educators Asso-ciation and is currently Middle School Band Chair. Ms. Lotz is a trumpet student of Greg Wing.
