Wildwind Dressage Festival July 28 & 29, 2012Wildwind
Equestrian Centre is proud to announce it will be hosting its
second Equine Canada recognized Bronze Level dressage show.
Wildwind Equestrian Centre is located on Highway 688 (20336). Turn
east at the intersection of Highway #2 and Highway #688 (at Co-op
Card Lock). Travel 7km along Highway #668, turn left on the second
driveway (20336) past the St. Isidore access. Exhibitors, judges
and show officials are responsible for knowledge of the rules. Full
details of horse show operation, EC rules, list of recognized
judges and other vital information is in the Rule Book (copyright
for the exclusive use of recognized shows). You must be a member in
good standing of Equine Canada and Dressage Canada. You must have
liability insurance through Alberta Equestrian Federation or your

The Wildwind Dressage Festival is a competition of Equine Canada
and is governed by the rules of Equine Canada. Every class offered
herein is covered by the rules and specifications of the current
rules of Equine Canada and will be held and judged in accordance
with the EC Rule Book. Statement of Principles:Equine Canada (EC),
the National Equestrian Federation of Canada, supports adherence to
humane treatment of horses in all competitions under its
jurisdiction. Equine Canada is committed to: Upholding the welfare
of horses, regardless of value, as a primary consideration in all
activities; Requiring that horses be treated with kindness,
respect, and the compassion that they deserve, and that they never
be subjected to mistreatment; Ensuring that owners, trainers,
exhibitors, and their agents use responsible care in the handling
treatment and transportation of their horse as well as horses
placed in their care for a purpose; Providing for the continuous
well-being of horse by encouraging routine inspection and
consultation with health care professionals and competition
officials to achieve the highest possible standards of nutrition,
health, comfort, sanitation and safety as a matter of standard
operating procedure; Continuing to support scientific studies on
equine health and welfare; Increasing education in training and
horsemanship practices; Requiring owners, trainers and exhibitors
to know and follow their sanctioning organizations rules, and to
work within industry regulations in all equestrian competition;
Reviewing, revising and developing competition rules and
regulations that protect the welfare of the horses; The standard by
which conduct or treatment will be measured is that which a person,
informed and experienced in generally accepted equine training and
exhibition procedures, would determine to be neither cruel, abusive
nor inhumane.
The show committee reserves the right to remove any horse and/or
rider from the competition at any time without being liable for
compensation. Show management reserves the right to refuse, cancel,
postpone, change, reschedule or combine any class or condition they
deem advisable.

to 4th place for all test competitions Prize money: $25.00 to 1st
place Highpoint Awards: There will be 3 highpoint awards presented
for Day 1, Day 2 Highpoint and Overall Show Highpoint.
Presentations: Inhand/Mounted presentations to fourth place will be
held at the end of each show day, in proper show attire.
Photographer: If you are interested in purchasing photos,
information will be available at the show office. AGE AND CLASS
CLARIFICATION Junior category is open to all riders 16 and under as
of January 1, 2011. Open category is open to all riders regardless
of age or status. Juniors riding stallions must be aware of Article
E.7.11.6 Equine Canada rules. Junior riders can ride either
category in a division, but not both. Riders can ride two
consecutive tests per day.
ENTRY REGULATIONS Exhibitors, judges and show officials are
responsible for knowledge of the rules. Full details of horse show

recognized EC shows). Both riders and owners must be members in
good standing of Dressage Canada, Equine Canada and Alberta
Equestrian Federation (or your Provincial organization if you
reside outside of Alberta).1. Closing Date: Show entries must be
post marked no later than July 13, 2012. NO PHONE, FAX OR EMAILED
ENTRIES. Show will run rain or shine. 2. Incomplete Entries
submitted will be subject to an additional $20.00 administration
fee and considered invalid until all information is submitted or
corrected. 3. Payments: An entry is not considered valid until it
has been paid in full. No post dated cheques will be accepted.
Cheques and money orders should be made out to Wildwind Equestrian
Centre. 4. Limited Entries: Priority of entry goes to complete and
correct entries. Incomplete entries will go to the bottom of the
priority list until corrected. Show committee reserves the right to
limit entries to 64 tests per day; entries accepted first come
first served. Entries received after the 64 tests will be placed on
waiting list. 5. Signatures: All competitors must sign the release
and acknowledgement of risk form. Riders under 18 must have a
parent or guardian signature. 6. Riders: A rider may ride more than
one horse. 7. More than one competitor may ride the same horse
providing the horse is not entered by two riders in the same class
& the horse may not be in more than four tests per day. Failure
to comply will result in elimination of that horse. Please refer to
Equine Canada Rule book. 8. There will be a Veterinarian and
Farrier on call; names and numbers will be posted in the Show
Office. 9. No refund of entry fees after the official entry closing
date of the show unless a veterinarian or doctors certificate is
submitted. The administration fee will not be refunded for any
reason. 10. Coggins Test: A current (within 6 months of the show)
Coggins Test certificate is required. Please attach a copy to your
entry form. 11. Memberships: An Equine Canada Bronze (or higher)
Sport License is required by all participants. If horse owner is
different from rider, a Sport License is also required. Visit
www.equinecanada.ca to attain your license. You must attach a copy
of both the current year EC membership card and your current AEF
membership card (or your provincial organization (PSO) if you
reside outside Alberta) to your show entry form. Entries are
incomplete without these copies. 12. Entry Number: Every horse must
wear its competition number for the duration of the show whenever
it leaves the stall. Failure to do so will result in a warning for
the first offense and possible elimination from competition for
subsequent offenses. 13. Scheduling of classes will be dependent on
entries received. Ride times will be emailed or phoned by July 23,
2012. 14. Protests have to be made in writing within 48 hours of
the competition and must be accompanied with $100.00. Please refer
to Equine Canada rule book. 15. Reading of Tests: Readers will not

Canada rule change E4.0 Safety Headgear, enforced May 1, 2011, all
mounted riders are required to wear a secured ASTM/SEI approved
safety helmet AT ALL TIMES ON THE SHOW GROUNDS, regardless of age.
Non compliance will result in elimination.
RING REGULATIONS
All classes will be in a 20m x 60m outdoor ring. Competitors
entering the show ring outside of posted times will be eliminated.
Scoring area and judges booth are off limits except to show
officials. Do not approach the judges booth during competition. The
competition ring will be open for riding Friday July 27, 2012, 5pm
9 pm. Warm-up indoor and outdoor arenas will be available for the
duration of the show. Lunging only in designated area.
STABLING Limited indoor box stalls are available for $40.00 per
stall for the show. Outdoor panel stalls are available for $25 per
stall for the show. Cleaning deposit of $50.00 (separate cheque) is
required and will be returned after inspection of the cleaned stall
by the barn manager. Please see barn manager for stall assignments
and refunds. There are no tack stalls available. Competitors must
provide own feed and shavings. Stalls will be available from 2 p.m.
on Friday July 27, 2012 to 7 p.m. Sunday July 29, 2012. Horses must
be stabled in assigned stalls only. Competitors are responsible for
keeping the area in front of their stall clean for the duration of
the show. Bring your own water pails for your stall and cleaning
tools. Competitors are required to clean their stall after the
show. Please dump soiled bedding in designated areas. Absolutely NO
SMOKING in stabling area.
SHOW GROUND INFORMATION Show Office Hours: Friday: 5:00pm to
8:00pm Saturday and Sunday: 7am to end of show. Located at tent
marked show office Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash at
all times and please clean up after them. Horse trailers and
campers will be parked in designated area.
RIDING TIMES Riding times will be emailed or phoned by July 23,
2012.

Inherent risks of equine activities shall mean those dangers or
conditions which are an integral part of equine activities,
including, but not limited to: The propensity of any equine to
behave in ways that may result in injury, harm or death to persons
on or around them and/or damage to property in their vicinity;

iii) The unpredictability of an equines reaction to such things
as sounds, sudden movement and unfamiliar objects, personas or

acknowledge that equestrian sports involve inherent risk and do

PRADA will host a year end banquet to present awards.
P.R.A.D.A. Peace Region Alberta Dressage Association Awards
Criteria 1. The award year includes competitions between January 1
and December 31. Each year is a new award year. 2. To be eligible
for year-end awards, horse owners and/or exhibitors must be current
members in good standing of P.R.A.D.A. (Exception: Volunteer of the
Year) 3. Horses and ponies must be owned or leased by a member in
good standing of P.R.A.D.A. in the year that the scores are earned.
4. If the horse is owned or leased by several individuals (e.g. a
stable, farm, or corporation, at least one of the principals must
be a member in good standing of P.R.A.D.A. in the year that the
scores are earned). 5. Only shows entered after the membership date
will be counted. Memberships will not be retroactive for the
purpose of accumulating points. 6. Same horse/rider combination,
you may have more than one horse/rider combination as you may be
riding more than one horse. 7. Qualifying scores as per current EC
Rule Book. 8. The horse/rider combination must acquire a minimum of
four scores from at least two different P.R.A.D.A. sanctioned
bronze level dressage shows. 9. When more than one judge is
present, the average score of the two will be counted. 10. High
Point awards are based on scores earned in one level. 11. Levels at
which High Point awards will be presented are: Walk/Trot (Open
& Junior), Training (Open & Junior), First Level (Open
& Junior), Second Level (Open), Third Level (Open) 12. High
Point will be calculated based on the average of the top two test
scores earned at P.R.A.D.A. sanctioned bronze level dressage shows.
13. In the event that there is a tie, the average will then be
calculated using the average of the top three test scores earned.
14. Other awards will be given out as follows, as decided on by the
Year End Awards Committee, please contact the Year End Awards
Committee for criteria for these categories: a. b. c. d. Most
improved horse/rider combination Sportsmanship Hard Luck Award
Volunteer of the year
15. The awards committee reserves the right to break any ties
encountered. 16. Prizes will be given out as decided on by the Year
End Awards Committee and may change from year to year. 17. Scores
will be submitted by each show; no application is necessary.
