/ EligibilityAn individual who meets the following regulations is qualified to apply for admission according

to MOE3

1.

An individual of foreign nationality, who has never held nationality status from the

Republic of China(ROC) and does not possess an overseas Chinese student status at the

time of their application, is qualified to apply for admission as the international student.

Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan.

2. An individual of foreign nationality, pursuant to the following regulations and who has

stayed overseas continuously for no less than 6 years is also qualified to apply for

admission under this regulation. The six year calculation period shall be calculated from

the starting date of the semester (Feb.1stor Aug.1st) as the designated due date for the

time of study. Overseas is limited to countries or regions other than Mainland China,

Hong Kong and Macau; the term continuously means that an individual may stay in

Taiwan for no more than a total of 120 days per calendar year.

(1) An individual has had a nationality status from ROC at the time of their birth but does

not hold a household registration.

(2) An individual who has had nationality status from the Republic of China but has no

ROC nationality at the time of their application shall have an annulled status regarding

their ROC nationality for no less than 8 years after an annulment of their ROC

nationality by the Ministry of the Interior.

(3) Regarding individuals mentioned in both of the above subparagraphs, they must not

have studied in Taiwan under the status of an overseas Chinese nor receivedplacement permission for an academic school year by the University Entrance

Committee for Overseas Chinese Students.

3. Applicants should be the one graduating or graduated from a high school, college or

university recognized by the Ministry of Education of ROC. Applicants with a high school

diploma are eligible to apply for the four-year undergraduate programs; applicants with a

bachelors degree are eligible to apply for the masters programs; applicants with a

masters degree are eligible to apply for the doctoral programs.

4.

International students who withdraw from university/college after admission due to

behavior issues, poor academic performance or a conviction under the Criminal Code

may not thereafter apply again for admission under this regulation.

A person shall have the nationality of ROC under any of the following conditions:

(1) His/her father or mother was a national of ROC, when he/she was born.

(2) He/she was born after the death of his/her father or mother, and his/her father or

mother was a national of ROC at the time of death.(3) He/she was born in the territory of the ROC and his/her parents cannot be

ascertained or both were stateless persons.

(4) He/she has undergone the nationalization process.

2. During the course of study in Taiwan, international students, who are approved for initial

household registration, resident registration, naturalization or restoration of their ROC

nationality, will lose their international student status and shall withdraw from school.

/ General Required Documents1. / An application [email protected]

Applicants must complete the application form through online application system. A

complete application form includes the attached photo and the signature. If you have

technical problems to fill in the online application, please contact us at

2. /One copy of the diploma

Diploma should be in native language and accompanied by English or Chinese

translations. Applicants who are in the process of completing studies must submit a

letter from the school/university clearly stating the anticipated graduation date and

degree. Applicants who will be pursuing a second degree (B.Sc. Or A/MBA) in a different

field of study must also submit a photocopy of the first degree/diploma.

Applicants for the bachelor degree must submit the high school diploma.

Applicants for the master degree must submit the diploma of bachelor degree.

Applicants for the Ph.D. degree must submit the diploma of master degree.

3. / One official transcript (original one is required)

Transcripts should be in native language and accompanied by English or Chinese

translations. In addition, the grading system must be included.

Applicants for the bachelor degree must submit the transcript of the high school.

Applicants for the master degree must submit the transcript of the bachelor.

Applicants for the Ph.D. degree must submit the transcript of the master.

4. / A study plan

Please write a concise essay of maximum 3 pages. In the study plan, applicants are

encouraged to give their motivation for choosing the university, department and program.

For graduate students, potential contribution and research interests may also be

included.

5. /Two recommendation letters

Fill in at least 2 referees on the online application form . Once the online application is

completed and submitted. The online system will automatically send out the

recommendation notice and the link to referees. Preferably referees are the faculty

members who can evaluate your academic qualifications and research potential.

6. / NTHU Medical History and Examination Form() 3

It is compulsory to use NTHUs Medical History and Examination Form printed from the

online system. The form must be completed according to the instructions. The medical

examination must be completed in the recent three month. It must be signed by thephysician and have a seal of the respective hospital. Incomplete submission is not

acceptable and will result in cancelation of ones application.

7. / Certification of Financial Responsibility Form

Print out the Certification of Financial Responsibility Form from the online system.

Applicants must complete form and attach either a scholarship certificate or a recent

3-month account balance certificate (sent directly from a financial institution) showing

the availability of the necessary funds to study at NTHU. The abovementioned

certificates must be in English or Chinese.

8. /Declaration form

Print out the declaration form and sign at the end of the form after reading through it. If

applicable, we may ask the applicant to submit a copy of the statement of travel record

or Forfeited Nationality Permit Certificate issued by Ministry of the Interior.

9. / A copy of passport

Submit a copy of passport. If the copy of your passport is not available, you may provide

verification of nationality.

11. /Checking list

Print out the checking list from the online system to ensure submission of each

required document. Please attach the checking list to the top of the application for official

use.
