Men’s Cross CountryHead Coach: Carolyn MartinAssistants: Christopher Dickerson, Bart WasiolekMost Valuable Player: Rich Klauber

Season Summary: The season was highlighted by the much-anticipated return of Rich Klauber. The senior transferred back to Quinnipiac and landed three NEC Athlete of the Week honors, a spot on the All-NEC Team, and helped lead the Bobcats to a third-place finish in the NEC Championship, their highest finish since 2008. Klauber got some help from the addition of freshman Brendan Copley, who won NEC Rookie of the Week twice. Selected to finish seventh in the NEC Preseason Coaches’ Poll, the Bobcats proved doubters wrong, finishing just seven points behind the champions, Central Conn. Season Summary: The Quinnipiac women’s cross country finished champions again, taking down their eighth consecutive NEC Championship, a conference-record for any sport. Becca White was the driving force behind another championship season as she placed first for the Bobcats in all six races she competed including a third-place finish at the NECs with a finishing time that was the second-fastest in her career. The Bobcats showed great depth as three different freshmen who claimed NEC Rookie of the Week honors (Ashley Carle, Tracy Campbell and Chelsea Savage) for the first time in program history and just the second time in the NEC’s history.

Season Summary: Field hockey advanced to the Northeast Conference Tournament in 2012 for the sixth consecutive year, clinching the No. 4 seed after an outstanding season. The Bobcats’ 12 victories in 2012 tied the program’s all-time record while their seven conference wins were a new program record. The Bobcats saw banner seasons from Jess Rusin, Jennalise Taylor and Christa Romano as well as Nicole Lewis, who earned NEC Goalkeeper of the Year honors.

Season Summary: The men’s soccer team claimed their first regular-season title in program history and went on to host the Northeast Conference Tournament. The Bobcats were 8-1-1 in league play and 10-5-1 overall - matching the most wins in a season during the Division I era. Quinnipiac won six straight games to close out the regular season which featured a 3-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson to clinch the title. The Bobcats’ NEC Semifinal appearance was their fifth in program history.

Post-Season Honors: Shauna Edwards (All-NEC, All-NSCAA)

Season Summary: This past year, the women’s soccer team collected its most wins since the 2007 season and its highest winning percentage since the 2001 campaign. The senior-laden Bobcats raced out of the gates and boasted the best start through five games in program history with a 4-0-1 record. The women’s soccer team went 9-6-2 overall and 5-4-1 in the Northeast Conference - making it three out of the last four seasons with a winning record in NEC competition.

Season Summary: First-year head coach Kris Czaplinski and the Quinnipiac women’s volleyball team’s season was highlighted by several individual standouts including the final season of one of the program’s most-transcendent players in Taylor Payne. The 2012 season was also another great year for Logan Riker who became program’s all-time leader in digs as she closed out the season with 1,125. Another individual standout was Brittanie Robinson who put together one of the most impressive individual games last season in the team’s first victory of the year over Providence as she led the way with a career-high 37 assists to go along with 13 digs and four blocks. Quinnipiac made it eight straight appearances into the NEC Tournament, while also making some noise on a national front in the team’s first, in-season tournament in program history. In its final season as a member of the Northeast Conference, Quinnipiac earned 10 or more wins for the sixth straight year – a distinction that not one other team shares with the Bobcats. Outside of conference play, the Bobcats endured a grueling non-conference slate which featured five games against NCAA Tournament contenders. Quinnipiac went 3-2 in those games though, including a 2-0 mark against non-conference NCAA teams - beating the MAAC Champion, Iona, and the America East Champion, Albany. Quinnipiac garnered the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament, making their 13th straight NEC Tournament appearance in March. Men’s Ice HockeyHead Coach: Rand PecknoldAssistants: Bill Riga, Reid CashmanMost Valuable Player: Eric HartzellSeason Summary: Arguably the most successful season in Quinnipiac Athletics history was compiled by the 2012-13 Quinnipiac Men’s Ice Hockey team who advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history before advancing to the University’s first NCAA Frozen Four and competing in the National Championship game for the first time in program history. On their way, the Bobcats compiled the most wins in NCAA Division I ice hockey (30), while also breaking the program record and also featured a 21-game unbeaten streak - the longest in college hockey in 2012-13. In addition, Eric Hartzell became the school’s first Hobey Hat Trick finalist while also earning All-American honors, in addition to earning ECAC Hockey Player of the Year and Goaltender of the Year. Head coach Rand Pecknold also earned ECAC Hockey Coach of the Year and All-New England Coach of the Year honors.

Season Summary: The Bobcats had great success in-conference as they posted the most ECAC Hockey wins (13) in pro-gram history and another 20-win season. They earned the No. 4 seed and hosted just their second-ever ECAC Hockey playoff series. Four players made the All-ECAC Hockey Teams and three different players were honored at times throughout the season as ECAC Hockey Player of the Week, the most among any team in the conference. The team also garnered the Turfer Athletic Sportsmanship Trophy for their strong character on and off the ice. Kelly Babstock continued to dominate the sport like no other player in Quinnipiac history as she reached the 150 career point plateau. Regan Boulton became the program’s highest-scoring defenseman ever with 77 career points. Victoria Vigilanti finished her career as the greatest goalie ever to lace it up for the Bobcats leaving as the all-time leader in every statistical category including wins (71), saves (3257), goals-against average (1.68), save percentage (.931) and shutouts (25). One of the crowning moments for the season was their 4-1 domination of then-No. 4 ranked Cornell. The Bobcats’ victory was just their second-ever against a Top-5 ranked program, their first ever home victory over Cornell and their first win over the Big Red since Nov. 18,2006 (14 games). It was also her first coaching women’s indoor track as the other came in women’s cross country. The team also broke an astonishing 26 program records this season in eight different events as the group of underclassmen sprinters certainly gave Quinnipiac an added dynamic the program has never seen before. In a tough intra-state battle against Hartford, Scott Donaghue and Chris Migani became the first Quinnipiac teammates to hit back-to-back home runs since 2007 while Donaghue also became the first player to homer twice in a game since 2011. Season Summary: QU softball’s season has been littered with individual highlights as Alex Alba now is first in career doubles and third all-time in hits while Jordan Paolucci is creeping towards the career home run record at Quinnipiac. They recently reeled off a seven-game winning streak which was their second-longest since the 2004 season. Courtney Solt has burst onto the scene with a stellar freshman year, earning two NEC Rookie of the Week hon-ors. Two other landmark achievements came on March 16 against Colgate where the team tied the program-record for runs scored with 16 and established a new record with 12 runs in the second inning.

Season Summary: The men’s lacrosse team earned their fifth straight postseason appearance when they defeated Wagner on April 20th to clinch a spot in the NEC Tournament. Quinnipiac went 4-2 in April, spearheaded by the offensive prowess of Sarah Allen who became the program’s all-time leader in career points during the stretch. The Bobcats defeated Saint Francis University on the final day of the regular season to solidify a 5-4 mark in conference play. Quinnipiac made it nine straight years with a record over .500 in league play, a distinction shared by only one other NEC school.

Andrea Szarkowicz and Christina Faust both have won events for the first time in their respective careers while Shameal Samuels now holds three school records including the top 400m time for both outdoor and indoor programs. Season Summary: With recent wins against Temple, Lee University and Appalachian State, the women’s rugby team has advanced to the National Semifinals of the 2013 USA Women’s Rugby Collegiate playoffs. The Bobcats earned their spot in the National Tournament after winning the 2012 Tri-State Conference Championship with a 22-14 win over Albany back in November. Quinnipiac posted a perfect 7-0 record in league play, outscoring its opposition, 605-42 through the fall season. The Bobcats take on Winona State in the semifinals on Friday, May 3 in Stanford, California. Fellow Quinnipiac alumni, parents, faculty and student-athletes were in attendance for “Quin-nipiac Night” in celebration of Coach Q’s career accomplishments.Former Quinnipiac University men’s soccer goalkeeper Freddy Hall (St. George, Bermuda) made his Major League Soccer (MLS) debut with Toronto FC last week. August 31: Senior Kemesha Woodfine (Stamford, Conn.) collected the game-winning goal on Friday afternoon, as the Quinnipiac University women’s soccer team defeated Vermont, 2-0, at the QU Soccer Field on Mount Carmel Campus. September 1: Paced by the return of senior Rich Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) and the sensational debut of freshman Brendan Copley (Colchester, Vt.), the Quinnipiac men’s cross country team placed second at the Stony Brook Invitational on Saturday. Overall, the Bobcats finished with 49 points and an average finishing time of 20:04.83, coming 18 points behind the host Sea-wolves and ahead of Southern Connecticut, Manhattan College, and Sacred Heart. A pair of freshmen Bobcat runners posted impressive debuts to lead Quin-nipiac to a third place finish at the Stony Brook Invitational. Rookies Ashley Carle (Jackson, N.J.) and Chelsea Savage (Pembroke, Mass.) finished in ninth and 11th place overall on Saturday as Quinnipiac completed the race with

The Quinnipiac women’s cross country team put on an incredible display on Senior day, winning the Quinnipiac Invitational over Central Conn. St. on Saturday. Running in her final home meet, senior Becca White (Natick, Mass.) dominated the field, winning her third career Quinnipiac Invitational with a time of 18:11.1. White received plenty of help with the Bobcats taking seven of the top eight finishers as they finished with 19 points and their NEC coun-terpart Blue Devils posted 44.September 16: On Sunday, Sept. 16, Quinnipiac freshman Jenn Whaley (Avon, Conn.) broke two more program records, shooting a 76 (+4) on the second day of the Dartmouth Invitational at Hanover Country Club for the lowest score in Quinnipiac history.

Senior goalkeeper Jill Kelley (Simsbury, Conn.) registered three saves on Sunday afternoon, but an overtime goal in the 92nd minute proved to be the difference as the Quinnipiac University women’s soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss at Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y. 4-2-1 on the season, while the hosting Saints improve to 2-4 in non-confer-ence competition.

Sophomore Elisa Cuellar (Palm Bay, Fla.) carried the Bobcats to a 94-0 victory over the Hawks of New Paltz on Sunday, Sept. 16 on the QU Rugby Field in Hamden, Conn. With the win Quinnipiac posts its largest margin of victory in program history, besting its 91-point win against Albany a week ago.September 17: Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey junior forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) was honored with a ECAC Hockey Preseason All-League selection, as announced by the league on Friday, Sep. 15. A Second-Team All-ECAC Hockey honoree at the end of the 2011-12 season, Babstock earns her second-consecutive Preseason All-League designation. She is joined by three Cornell skaters, including defenders Laura Fortino and Lauriane Rougeau, and forward Brianne Jenner, as well as Harvard forward Jillian Dempsey and Clarkson goaltender Erica Howe.

September 21: Senior forward Kemesha Woodfine (Stamford, Conn.) scored her third goal of the season on Friday afternoon, as the Quinnipiac University women’s soccer team defeated Fairleigh Dickinson, 1-0, at the QU Soccer Field on Mount Carmel Campus. Viebrock’s victory puts her in sole possession of 13th place all-time, as she remains just one win shy of Jodi Robidoux for 12th place on the list.September 23: The Quinnipiac field hockey team held on for a 3-2 win against American at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey Turf Complex in Hamden, Conn. Quinnipiac led 3-1 after the first half, and after giving up a second half goal, turned back a pair of corner attempts to hold on for the win. The Bobcats competed against 39 collegiate teams in the Women’s Gold 6k Race and finished with a total of 593 points, while Cornell University won the meet with 55 points. Senior Becca White (Natick, Mass.) led the Bobcat contingent with a 74th-place finish and a time of 21:50.The Quinnipiac men’s and women’s cross country teams joined up to help run the third annual Mari’s Miles of Smiles Road Race in Cheshire held on Saturday, Sept. 22. Stimson carried the team with three tries and added 15 points to the Quinnipiac score. Quinnipiac remains unscathed on the year as it improves to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the Tri-State Conference, while Marist drops to 2-2 on the year. Through five games, Quinnipiac has outscored its opponent, 298-19, as they continue their best start in program history.

October: October 2: Quinnipiac men’s cross country combined to sweep the Northeast Conference Weekly Awards for the second time in the 2012 season. As an-nounced by the league office on Tuesday, Oct. 2, senior Rich Klauber (Thom-aston, Conn.) claimed the NEC Athlete of the Week and freshman Brendan Copley (Colchester, Vt.) was named the NEC Rookie of the Week. The duo also took home the honors in the same week on Sep. 5 after the Bobcat’s first race of the year at the Stony Brook Invitational.

October 5: Junior Tim Quigley (Ridgefield, Conn.) netted the game’s lone goal on Friday afternoon, as the Quinnipiac University men’s soccer team up-ended Sacred Heart University, 1-0, at the QU Soccer Field on Mount Carmel Campus. With the win, the Bobcats climb back to the .500 mark at 4-4-1, but more importantly improve to 2-0 in the Northeast Conference. The Pioneers, the 2011 NEC regular-season champions, fall to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in league competition.

Sophomore Christina Cesarini (Garden City, N.Y.) provided two goals against Wagner on Friday evening, as the Quinnipiac University women’s soccer team defeated Wagner College, 4-1, in a Northeast Conference match-up at the Wagner College Stadium. Quinnipiac’s goals were scored by three different players, improving its overall record to 7-3-2 overall, and 3-1-1 in the confer-ence. The Seahawks drop to 4-9 overall and 1-3 in the NEC.October 6: The Quinnipiac University women’s golf team finished 18th out of 21 teams at the Rutgers Invitational. The Bobcats shot a 344 on the second day of the tournament, to combine with their first-day total of 324, for a 668

Junior Jordan Samuels-Thomas’ (Windsor, Conn.) goal with 1:26 remaining in regulation proved to be the difference as the Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey team defeated No. 15 Maine, 2-1, at Alfond Arena in Orono, Me. Quinnipiac opens the season at 1-0-0 while Maine begins the year at 0-1-0.Two Bobcats advanced to the semifinals on Saturday evening, as the Quinni-piac University men’s tennis team continued play the 10th annual Quinnipiac Invitational at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts on Mount Carmel Campus. Freshman Luke Roser (Bernardsville, N.J.) and senior Devon Jerome (Stam-ford, Conn.) survived through the quarterfinals and will compete tomorrow morning.

October 7: There was no stopping senior Rich Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) on Sunday at the New England Championships as he finished 8th overall in a race that featured a season-high 261 competitors. He led the Bobcats to a 23rd place result out of 37 collegiate teams, up 10 spots from last year’s 33rd place finish in the same event. Several Bobcats including Klauber achieved new personal-bests as the team continues to build for a successful late-season run.

It was another record breaking day for the Bobcats as junior libero Logan Riker (Bowling Green, Ohio) became just the second player in Quinnipiac women’s volleyball history to record 1,000 career digs. Also, Senior Taylor Payne (Warwick, N.Y.) recorded her 500th career kill on Saturday afternoon.The Quinnipiac University men’s tennis team concluded play at the 10th annual Quinnipiac Invitational on Sunday morning at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts on Mount Carmel Campus. For Klauber, the Athlete of the Week honor is his third of the 2012 season, more than any other run-ner in the NEC. It also marked his second consecutive selection and the fifth of his career.

Women’s ice hockey’s junior forward Kelly Babstock has been named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Tues-day, October 9. She claims the honor for the fifth time in three years with the Bobcats after becoming the first Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey player to record 100 career points over the weekend.October 12: After netting six points in the team’s opening weekend series against Mercyhurst, junior forward Kelly Babstock was at it again in the Bob-cat’s 6-1 win over Maine on Friday night at the High Point Solutions Arena. Babstock netted four goals to break Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey program record for most goals scored in a game by a single player. The previous record of three had been accomplished 12 times in Bobcat history but that record fell on Babstock’s stick as she also tallied an assist to give her five points for the evening.October 13: The Quinnipiac men’s cross country team, backed by freshman sensation Brendan Copley (Colchester, Vt.), placed 20th (out of 212 competi-tors) at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday. The two-time Northeast Con-ference Rookie of the Week, Copley has finished either first or second among Bobcat runners in all four races he has competed this season. The Bobcats finished with 544 points while the winner of the Princeton Invitational is St. Joseph’s (Pa.) with 46 points.The Quinnipiac University women’s tennis team showed no signs of rust after a two week break from competition, as the Bobcats rolled over Northeast Conference foe St. Francis (N.Y.), 7-0, at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts on Mount Carmel Campus. Quinnipiac improves to 2-0-0 with the win while Robert Morris opens the season at 0-1-0.The Quinnipiac women’s golf team placed three of its five athletes in the top half of the 22-player Delaware State University Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 13. Han-nah Russell (Monson, Mass.) finished third.Senior Becca White (Natick, Mass.) led the women’s cross country team for the fourth time in four races this season and the Bobcats finishes with 469 points and a 18th-place finish at the Princeton University Invitational. Quinnipiac University Men’s Soccer Head Coach Eric Da Costa collected his 50th career win on Sunday afternoon, as the Bobcats netted a pair of goals late in the contest to pick up three points on the road at Bryant University. Senior William Daniels (Clackamas, Ore.) and sophomore Justin Ward (New Egypt, N.J.) each scored a goal with less than 10 minutes remaining to lift the Bobcats to a 2-0 vic-tory at Bulldogs Stadium in Smithfield, R.I.The Quinnipiac women’s rugby team put on an incredible offensive display on Sunday, scoring a program-record 130 points in the shutout victory over Hofstra, 130-0, at the QU Rugby Field. Quinnipiac extends their unbeaten streak as they move to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in the Tri-State Conference while the Pride move to 0-5 on the season and 0-5 in Tri-State play.The Quinnipiac University men’s ice hockey team raised $20,294 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which sponsors head-shaving events to fund children’s cancer research. The Bobcats collected online donations through their team page at StBaldricks.org. Barron was also selected to the All-Conference Preseason First team alongside junior forward Brittany McQuain (Independence, Mo.)October 19: The Quinnipiac women’s cross country team finished ninth among 14 competitors at the Central Connecticut State Mini Meet on Saturday in the

pouring rain. The Bobcats were led by freshman Rebecca Morse (West Newbury, Mass.) who placed 44th with a time of 11:16.24 in the 3k event.In a high-octane, pressure-packed offensive slugfest between the Bobcats and Syracuse, junior Erica Uden Johansson (Sundsvall, Sweden) found the game-winner with 6.8 seconds remaining in a 3-2 overtime victory on Friday night. After a Syracuse penalty in the waning minutes of overtime resulted in a power-play, Uden Johansson’s wrist shot deflected off the side post and beat Syracuse goalie Jenesica Drinkwater to send the Bobcat bench into hysterics. Senior goalie Victoria Vigilanti (Woodbridge, Ontario) played big in net all day for the Bobcats as she picks up the victory with 36 saves. The win moves Quinnipiac to 3-1-1 and the Orange fall to 2-3 on the year.A three-goal first half propelled the Quinnipiac field hockey team to a 4-1 win against Robert Morris in Moon Township, Pa. Four different Bobcats scored for Quinnipiac who improve to 10-5 overall and 3-1 in the Northeast Conference.

October 20: Jeremy Langlois (Tempe, Ariz.) scored twice to lead the nationally-ranked No. 20 Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey team to a 2-0 win against Ohio State. The Bobcats improve to 3-1-1 on the season while Ohio State drops to 1-2-1 overall.The Quinnipiac University women’s tennis team wrapped up competi-tion in the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center in West Point, N.Y. Senior Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) was the lone qualifier for the Bobcats in the Main Singles Draw.

October 22: Quinnipiac men’s basketball sophomore Ike Azotam (Bos-ton, Mass.) was recently named to the College Sports Madness Northeast Conference Preseason All-Conference First Team, announced on Sunday, October 21, 2012 by the association’s committee. Azotam has received a lot of recognition early on in the 2012-13 season after completing a tremendous campaign in 2011-12.The Quinnipiac University men’s basketball team brought joy to several athletes on Saturday morning, as the Bobcats attended the Connecticut Special Olympics at James Hillhouse School gymnasium in New Haven, Conn. Team members took pictures with and cheered on participants at the annual event, which featured hundreds of competitors from all over the state.

October 23: Quinnipiac freshman Krissy Unger (New York, N.Y.) became the first medalist in program history at the Quinnipiac Classic. Unger’s top individual score guided the Bobcats as head coach John O’Connor also picked up his first tournament win.October 25: Members of the Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team spent some time at the Benjamin Jepson School in New Haven as a part of Quinnipiac’s Positive Play Initiative designed to encourage student-ath-lete community service. The Bobcats led class discussions on different aspects of being a student-athlete and how to best manage one’s time holding both responsibilities.

Several members of the Quinnipiac women’s volleyball team recently visited Oxford Middle School in Connecticut as a part of QU’s Positive Play Initiative. The program is designed to encourage community ser-vice by Quinnipiac’s student-athletes, coaches and staff.October 26: Junior Beck Kiting (Canberra, Australia) scored the game-winning goal in the 88th minute of action to lead the Bobcats to the 2-1 victory over the Colonials of Robert Morris Friday afternoon at Joe Walton Stadium. With the victory, the Bobcats improve to 9-5-2 (5-3-1 NEC), while Robert Morris falls to 1-16-2 (1-7-1 NEC) in the season. The triumph puts the Bobcats one step closer to qualifying for a playoff bid into the postseason.

In a marquis match-up that featured the NEC’s fourth and fifth ranked teams, Quinnipiac now soars into a two-way tie for second place with 16 points, currently trail-ing Fairleigh Dickinson by just one point.The Quinnipiac University field hockey team recorded a season-high five goals on Friday afternoon, as the Bobcats cruised past Siena College, 5-0, in their 2012 regular-season home finale at the QU Field Hockey Turf. Senior Cate Colucci (Gloucester, R.I.) spearheaded the Bobcats attack with two goals, improving the team’s overall record to 11-6, 4-2 in the Northeast Conference.October 27: The Quinnipiac men’s cross country team nearly came away with their first Northeast Conference Championship since 2008 on Saturday, finishing 3rd in the pressure-packed event. Senior Rich Klauber (Thomas-ton, Conn.) and freshman Brendan Copley (Colchester, Vt.) gave Quinnipiac their first All-Conference honorees since the 2009 season when Klauber was joined by two other Bobcats in an event where they finished the runners-up. The Bobcats (79 points) nearly came away with the title as they finished a mere seven points behind first-place Central Connecticut State (72 points) who claims their fourth consecutive NEC Championship.After going consecutive games without a goal the Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team put on a clinic Saturday afternoon at the High Point Solutions Arena with an 8-3 trouncing of Dartmouth. Sophomore Nicole Kosta (Mis-sissauga, Ontario) tallied her first career hat trick and added an assist to set a career-high with four points. Kosta wasn’t alone as junior Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) tied a career high with four assists on her way to a five-point outing in the Bobcat victory. The win moves Quinnipiac to 4-3-1 on the year and claims their first ECAC Hockey victory (1-1-0 conference record) while Dartmouth falls to 1-1-0 in ECAC Hockey play.The Quinnipiac women’s cross country showed their impeccable depth on their way to capturing an eighth consecutive Northeast Conference Champi-onship on Saturday. The Bobcat’s eight-year championship winning streak is the longest current streak in any NEC-sponsored sport. Four Bobcats gar-nered All-Conference honors and all seven qualifying runners for Quinnipiac placed within the first 23 competitors to finish in the 5k event. Sacred Heart finished runner-up with 54 points compared to the Bobcat’s 46.October 28: The Quinnipiac field hockey team clinched the fourth and final berth in the Northeast Conference Tournament with a 3-0 win against Bry-ant. The Bobcats finish the regular season at 12-6 overall and 5-2 in the NEC while Bryant drops to 6-13 overall and 3-4 in conference play.The Bobcats’ 12 victories match the program record for wins set by the 2002 team.Freshman scrum half Devon Vieira (Kent, Wash.) lifted the Bobcats past the second ranked in the Tri-State Conference Great Danes of Albany, 27-10, Sunday, October 28. The undefeated Bobcats continue their compelling sea-son improving to 9-0 overall and 7-0 in Tri-State matchups. The Great Danes suffered their first loss of the season setting them back to 5-1-1 overall in conference play.

The Quinnipiac University men’s tennis team swept all four consolation brackets at the Connecticut State Championships over the weekend, as the Bobcats concluded their fall schedule at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center in New Haven, Conn. Seniors Garrett Lane (Reading, Mass.), Alex Lazerowich (Stratham, N.H.), Devon Jerome (Stamford, Conn.), Fahoum Fahoum (Haifa, Israel) and sophomore Eric Ambrosio (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) each came out on top at the end of the tournament.

October 28: Three first half goals from the Quinnipiac University men’s soc-cer team proved to be more than enough on Sunday morning, as the Bobcats ran past Robert Morris, 3-1, and into the Northeast Conference Tournament. For the second time in three games, the offense came at the strength of three different players with freshman Erik Panzer (Nelson, New Zealand), senior William Daniels (Clackamas, Ore.) and sophomore Ola Ogunjobi (London, England) each picking up two points in the NEC match-up.

October 29: Quinnipiac field hockey raised $1,688 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation during its annual “Play for the Cure” game against Siena on Friday, Oct. 26.Sophomore goalkeeper Borja Angoitia (Bilbao, Spain) helped the Quinnipiac University men’s soccer team to a pair of wins this past weekend and was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week for his efforts between the posts. November 3: Quinnipiac University Director of Athletics and Recreation Jack McDonald has announced that Quinnipiac’s High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center has been selected as the host site for the 2014 NCAA National Collegiate Women’s Ice Hockey Championship.November 4: Senior William Cavallo (Londonderry, N.H.) scored a goal in each half on Sunday afternoon, as the Quinnipiac University men’s soccer team clinched its first-ever Northeast Conference Regular-Season Title with a 3-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson at the QU Soccer Field on Mount Carmel Campus. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 10-5-2 overall, 8-1-1 in league play, and will host the NEC Tournament next weekend.

The Bobcats lit up the scoreboard and had Burt Kahn Court rocking on Sunday afternoon as they claimed their first Northeast Conference victory, 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 30-28), over St. Francis (N.Y.). Quinnipiac junior Bon-nie Conklin (Plano, Texas) factored heavily in the win with a career-high 13 kills while the Bobcat’s team hitting percentage of .382 is a season-best. The victory snaps a 15-game winless streak for Quinnipiac as they move to 2-21 (1-13 NEC) while the Terrier’s loss brings them to 2-27 (2-12 NEC).Nocember 5: Quinnipiac scored two first half goals and never looked back, defeating Fairleigh Dickinson by a final score of 3-0 on Sunday afternoon to claim the Northeast Conference Men’s Soccer Regular-Season trophy and the right to host 2012 NEC Men’s Soccer Tournament. Due to inclement weather, the games will be played at the Fitzgerald Sports Complex in West Haven, Conn. It marks the first regular-season title in program history for the Bobcats, who finished their 10-game slate with an 8-1-1 record and 25 total points.

November 8: Earning the Northeast Conference Regular-Season Title came with plenty of recognition for the Quinnipiac University men’s soccer team, as the Bobcats were rewarded with four All-NEC honors at the annual NEC Championship banquet on York Hill Campus at the Quinnipiac University Club on Thursday night. Head Coach Eric Da Costa was tabbed the NEC Coach of the Year and senior Philip Suprise (Milwaukee, Wis.) was named to the NEC First Team, while seniors William Daniels (Clackamas, Ore.) and Robbie McLarney (Londonderry, N.H.) were named to the NEC second team.

Quinnipiac women’s soccer senior Shauna Edwards (Southington, Conn.) was selected to the Northeast Conference and the College Sports Madness North-east Conference All-Conference first team, as announced on Friday, Nov. 2.November 9: Coming off an impressive 3rd place showing at the NEC Champi-onship, the Quinnipiac men’s cross country team finished their stellar season with a 23rd place result at the NCAA Northeast Regional at Hammonassett Park. Iona had all five of their runners finish in the top-20 to win the event with 45 points.

December 29: The nationally-ranked No. 9/9 Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey team defeated No. 12/13 Nebraska Omaha, 5-4, in a non-conference match-up at the High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. With the win, Quinnipiac improves to 13-3-2 on the season while they also increase their program-record unbeaten streak to 11 games. Nebraska Omaha drops to 11-7-1 on the season. January 11: After over a month off, the Quinnipiac women’s indoor track picked up right where it left off breaking another school record in the high jump on Friday afternoon from the University of Rhode Island at the Go Rhody Invitational. Junior Sam Stabile (Haverhill, Mass.) established a new program record in the event with a height of 5’1 (1.55 meters) to headline the Quinnipiac contingent.

January 12: Led by power forward Brittany McQuain (Independence, Mo.), the Quinnipiac University women’s basketball team coupled strong defense with a potent offense en route to a 74-45 win over defending NEC Champion Sacred Heart at the TD Bank Sports Center on Saturday afternoon. McQuain helped the Bobcats to two straight victories over NEC opponents Sacred Heart and Bryant with back-to-back double-doubles.

January 16: Quinnipiac senior goalie Eric Hartzell (White Bear Lake, Minn.) is featured in the Jan. 21, 2013 issue of Sports Illustrated, released on Wednes-day, Jan. 16, 2013, in the immensely popular “Faces In The Crowd” section.January 17: Quinnipiac University Men’s Basketball Head Coach Tom Moore and Assistant Coach Eric Eaton will participate in “Shots From The Heart,” a free-throw shooting contest designed to generate awareness for the growing problem of heart disease. In addition to raising heart disease awareness, the event also pays tribute to the late Skip Prosser, who passed away in July 2007 of a heart attack.

The Bobcats’ NCAA-best undefeated streak now stands at 17 games (15-0-2) while they also improve to 18-3-3 on the year.The Quinnipiac University Women’s Lacrosse team visited third graders at Helen Street School on Friday to complete a winter reading project. Former Bobcat Laura Iannotti ’11 teaches at Helen Street and worked with the coach-ing staff to coordinate the visit. “Anytime we can get to work with children, we always have fun,” said head coach Danie Caro. “It’s an amazing experi-ence for our student-athletes to interact with young children in a classroom environment. And I think the elementary students really enjoy seeing college athletes and getting to talk to them about their sport.”

January 24: Quinnipiac University men’s basketball head coach Tom Moore picked up his 100th career win on Thursday night, as the Bobcats made it eight straight wins over Central Connecticut with an 85-78 victory at the TD Bank Sports Center. Moore became the fastest coach to win 100 in the Divi-sion I era and second fastest coach all-time in program history.January 25: The Quinnipiac women’s indoor track team continued their sensational start to the 2012-13 season as four more program records fell on Friday at the Terrier Invite hosted by Boston University. distinguished athletes include former standouts Heather Schwartzburg and Ashley Heiberger as well as current sophomore catcher Jordan Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.). Recipients of this award earned a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA over both semesters last year.

January 31: Senior Nicole Lewis (East Amherst, N.Y.) of the Quinnipiac University field hockey team was recently one of seven Northeast Conference student-athletes to receive the 2012 Fall Scholar-Athlete Award, announced on Thursday, January 31, 2013. Senior goalie Victoria Vigilanti (Woodbridge, Ontario) stood tall in net all afternoon with 29 saves while the Bobcat defense limited the Big Red opportunities with 20 blocked shots in front of Vigilanti. Not only is the Bobcats’ No. 1 ranking a first in program history, but it is also the first time a Quinnipiac athletic program has been nationally-ranked No. 1.February 12: Quinnipiac freshman Soren Jonzzon (Moutainview, Calif.) has been named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013. The first-year Bobcat knotched his first career point on a go-ahead goal in the Bobcats’ 3-2 win at Colgate on Saturday, Feb. 9.For the second time this season, Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey’s junior forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) and senior goalie Victoria Vigilanti (Woodbridge, Ontario) were announced as the Hogan Hockey/ECAC Hockey Player and Goaltender of the Week, respectively. This announcement came from the league office on Tuesday, Feb. 12 and marks the second time this season Babstock and Vigilanti have took home the awards in the same week.

February 13: The Quinnipiac University women’s basketball team earned its 20th win of the season on Wednesday night, as the Bobcats topped Central Connecticut State University, 63-53, at Detrick Gymnasium in New Britain, Conn. Quinnipiac, now 20-2 overall and 11-0 in the Northeast Conference, achieved 20 wins for the second consecutive season and for the seventh time in program history. It also marked the fourth time under the direction of head coach Tricia Fabbri.

More importantly, the Bobcats, who have won eight of their last nine games, improved to 10-5 in league play. The Quinnipiac women’s indoor track team came out and put together an impressive all-around performance on Saturday to conclude the New England Championships in 16th place overall with 16 points. On Monday, USA Hockey announced the names of 28 players invited to its U.S. Women’s National Team training camp and Quinnipiac junior forward Kelly Babstock was listed as one of the 15 forwards selected. For the second time in her career and first since Oct. 12, 2010, Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey junior forward Erica Uden Johansson (Sundsvall, Swe-den) was honored with the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. The Bobcats continue their impressive season as Uden Johansson is the third different Bobcat to receive Player of the Week honors this season, no other team in the league has more than two players as a weekly winner.

February 28: Fighting for seeding in the upcoming Northeast Conference Tournament, the Quinnipiac University men’s basketball team took care of business at St. Francis Brooklyn on Thursday night, as the Bobcats topped the Terriers, 78-67, at the Pope Physical Education Center. Quinnipiac, now 15-14 overall and 11-6 in league play, would solidify at least the No. 3 seed with a win at LIU Brooklyn on Saturday.

Senior Garrett Lane (Read-ing, Mass.) added two more wins to his collegiate resume and provided a big lift in the win.

The Quinnipiac University women’s tennis team completed a 7-0 sweep on Friday evening, as the Bobcats cruised past future Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Marist at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center in West Point, N.Y. With the win, Quinnipiac improved to 4-1 for the first time since the 2009-10 campaign.March 2: The Quinnipiac University baseball team improved to 2-0 with a 4-2 win against George Washington at Barcroft Park in Arlington, Va. With the loss, George Washington drops to 0-8 on the year. Bobcats’ senior Spencer Kane (Wolcott, Conn.) picked up the win in his first start of the season after allowing one unearned run on five hits over six innings of work. Kane walked two batters, and hit two more, while striking out four.

It was quite a day for the Quinnipiac women’s indoor track team as the Bobcats broke school records in three out of the five events they competed in today and were also able to qualify for the 4 x 800m relay finals tomorrow from the ECAC Championships at Boston University. With three more records falling, this now brings the Bobcats’ incredible total to 25 times now that program records have been bested in events this season. Graduate student Morgan Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) is also scheduled to run in the 3000m finals tomorrow as she joins the relay team in finals competition on Sunday.For the second week in a row, the Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team used fourth-quarter heroics to overcome a deficit as the Bobcats defeated the University of Detroit Mercy, 12-10, at Titan Field in Detroit, Mich. Basil Kostaras (Southlake, Texas) and Michael Sagl (West Islip, N.Y.) each recorded hat tricks for the Bobcats, who improved to 2-0 for the first time since the 2008 campaign.Redemption tasted oh-so-sweet for the Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team as junior Amanda Colin lit the lamp over eight minutes into the third overtime period to send the No. 4 seeded Bobcats past the No. 5 Saints, 3-2, and force a deciding Game Three of their ECAC Hockey Tournament Quarterfinals series on Sunday, Mar. 3. March 3: Mike Blumenthal (Dix Hills, N.Y.) drove in a pair of runs with a triple in the top of the ninth as the Quinnipiac baseball team erased a 2-1 deficit to defeat George Washington, 4-3, at Barcroft Park in Arlington, Va. The win completes the three-game sweep of the Colonials as the Bobcats open the year at 3-0 while George Washington drops to 0-9.The Quinnipiac women’s indoor track team closed out its 2012-13 season in style as they broke another school record, their 26th record-breaking run on the year, as they finished their season at the ECAC Championships. The Bobcats’ distance medley relay team scored a time of 11:49.62 to obliterate the previous school record broken a week earlier at the New England Cham-pionships. The 4 x 800m relay team also put together an eighth place finish to earn the Bobcats one point on the afternoon.

Dassa’s play has sparked the Bobcats early on, lifting Quinnipiac to a 4-2 record through the month of February into March.Quinnipiac senior Nicole Lewis (Amherst, N.Y.) was honored as a Division I Scholar of Distinction, as announced by Gladiator by SGI in partnership with the Nation Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).

Highlighted by head coach Tricia Fabbri and senior guard Felcia Barron (Springfield, Mass.), four members of the Quinnipiac University women’s basketball team earned Northeast All-Conference accolades for the 2012-13 season. Fabbri secured her third Brenda Reilly NEC Coach of the Year honor, while Barron retained her NEC Defensive Player of the Year crown and was tabbed to the NEC First Team. The Quinnipiac University women’s lacrosse team mounted a furious comeback on Saturday afternoon, as the Bobcats erased a five-goal deficit, including the game-winner with just 2.5 seconds left, to defeat the University of Vermont, 12-11, at Virtue Field. Freshman Maria Blois (Cheshire, Conn.) scored in the waning seconds to lift Quinnipiac to a second straight win in thrilling fashion.

March 10: The top-seeded Quinnipiac University women’s basketball team will serve as one of four NEC teams to play again on Wednesday night, as the Bobcats defeated the eighth-seeded Bryant University Bulldogs, 79-55, on Sunday in the NEC Quarterfinals at the TD Bank Sports Center. Saint Francis University upended Sacred Heart in the other semifinal match-up – setting the stage for the Bobcats and the Red Flash to square off on Sunday, March 17th at 5 p.m. on Lender Court.Wednesday’s match was quite an offensive showcase as the Quinnipiac softball team and UT-Chattanooga combined for 25 hits and 19 runs but the Bobcats finished ahead on the scoreboard, 11-8, from the Eddie C. Seven runs in the sixth, all with two outs, proved to be the different for the Bobcats in the victory. April 11: The No. 1 Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey team punched themselves a ticket to the 2013 Men’s Ice Hockey Division I National Championship game with a 4-1 win on Thursday over No. 4 St. Cloud State from CONSOL Energy Center. Thursday’s Frozen Four win marks the first time any Quinnipiac athletic program has advanced to an NCAA National Championship as the Bobcats will play cross-town foe Yale on Saturday. Quinnipiac continues to improve on their record-breaking season with their program-best 30th win as they improve to 30-7-5 in 2012-13.April 12: Kayla Ketcheson (St. Andrews, Manitoba) led the way for the Bobcats on Friday afternoon as the Quinnipiac University women’s golf team competed in the seventh annual Roar-ee Invitational at the Spook Rock Golf Course. The event, hosted by Columbia University, witnessed rainy conditions all morning, sometimes extremely heavy, but 18 holes were able to be played in Suffern, N.Y.

With the result, both teams move to 2-1 in league play and into a tie for second place in the standings.

The Quinnipiac women’s outdoor track team took to Brown Stadium for the Brown University Invitational where junior Christina Faust (Macungie, Pa.) and freshman Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Conn.) shined on Saturday with stellar individual performances. Three more school records fell by the waste side as Samuels bested her program record established earlier this season in both the 200m and 400m while the 4 x 400m relay team also posted another program-best on Saturday.

Quinnipiac University men’s and women’s tennis head coach Mike Quitko reached a significant personal milestone on Saturday afternoon as the Bobcats swept Saint Francis University to seal his 500th career win. Both the men’s and the women’s teams’ each won with 4-0 decisions en route to the historic win for Coach Quitko.

The Bobcats were outscored by a combined score of 8-4 throughout the first five innings of both games but the Quinnipiac softball team willed their way to a pair of clutch victories over Wagner, 6-4 and 6-5, to earn the Saturday sweep at Wagner Field. Quinnipiac stormed all the way back from 4-0 down in the first game and also pulled out the deciding hit of game two in the sixth inning with the score tied, 4-4. With the two victories, Quinnipiac improves to 12-23 but more importantly move their conference record to 5-3 which currently sits in fourth place in the NEC standings.

The Quinnipiac University women’s rugby team topped Lee University on Saturday afternoon, 25-20, at the Brigade Sports Complex on U.S. Naval Acad-emy Campus. With the win, Quinnipiac improves to 13-0 on the season and has earned the chance to play Appalachian State, tomorrow, April 14, in the National Quarterfinals at 11 a.m.

April 14: The Quinnipiac softball team continued their magical run as they pushed their winning streak to seven games with a pair of victories over Sacred Heart, 6-0 and 4-3, on Sunday from Pioneer Park. The Bobcats were on the ropes once again, down 3-0 heading into the sixth in game two, but two runs in each of the closing innings pushed them ahead for their fourth come-from-behind victory during the seven-game winning streak. Quinnipiac improves their record to 14-23 while their NEC mark moves to 7-3, good for fourth place in the conference standings.

The Quinnipiac women’s volleyball team joined a force of over 1,000 students and volunteered their time in the Big Event held on-campus Saturday, April 6. Sophomore Eric Ambrosio (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) of the Quinnipiac University men’s tennis team was recently named the Northeast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, announced on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Ambrosio helped the Bobcats to a 2-1 record last week while posting a perfect 6-0 mark during the three matches.

Senior Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) of the Quinnipiac University women’s tennis team was recently named the Northeast Conference Women’s Ten-nis Player of the Week, announced on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Cantor was perfect on the week, recording a 6-0 mark en route to a 2-1 weekly record for the Bobcats.

Garvey Young (Washington, D.C.), a former men’s basketball player and current graduate student at Quinnipiac University, took home first prize in Quinnipiac University’s Business Plan Competition which was held on Friday, April 12, 2013. Young has dedicated his time to developing a business for prospective college basketball players and seems to be headed in the right direction.

April 17: Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey head coach Rand Pecknold received the Clark Hodder Coach of the Year Award at the New England Hockey Writers Association annual banquet at Prince Restaurant in Saugus, Mass. on Tuesday, Apr. 16.April 18: The Quinnipiac University women’s rugby team defeated Appala-chian State University on Saturday afternoon, 22-10, at the Brigade Sports Complex on U.S. Naval Academy Campus. With the win, Quinnipiac improves to 14-0 on the season and has advanced to the National Semifinals which is to be hosted on Friday, May 3rd at Steuber Rugby Stadium (Stanford University) in Stanford, CA.

April 19: Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey senior Mike Dalhuisen has been signed by the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders, as announced by the or-ganization on Friday, Apr. 19. Dalhuisen will report to the Bridgeport (Conn.) Sound Tigers, the Islanders’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, for the 2013-14 season.The Quinnipiac University women’s tennis team continued its dominance in the Northeast Conference Tournament on Friday morning, as the Bobcats defeated Mount St. Mary’s, 4-0, to advance to the semifinals of the single-elimination playoff. With the win, Quinnipiac has progressed into the last four for the 15th straight year.

The Quinnipiac University men’s tennis team was nearly flawless on Friday afternoon as the Bobcats cruised past Monmouth University, 4-0, in the NEC Tournament Quarterfinals at the Mercer County Tennis Center in West Wind-sor, N.J. With the win, the third-seeded Bobcats advance to the semifinals for the 11th straight year where they will take on the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson University.Sarah Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.) dished out a game-high six assists and Kyra Ochwat (Farmingdale, N.Y.) had five goals as the Quinnipiac University women’s lacrosse team kept its playoff hopes alive with a 16-15 win over Robert Morris Friday afternoon at the QU Lacrosse Turf Field. The Bobcats improve to 4-4 on the season but still need a win on Sunday and help around the league for a chance in the NEC Tournament.

April 20: Dylan Webster (Brampton, Ontario) scored the game-winning goal with 1.8 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to lift the Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team over Wagner, 11-10, on Senior Day at the QU Lacrosse Turf Field Saturday afternoon. The win clinches a playoff spot for the Bobcats as they head into the final weekend with a 3-1 mark in Northeast Conference play.

The Quinnipiac University women’s tennis team earned a spot in the North-east Conference Championship match, as the Bobcats defeated LIU Brooklyn, 4-2, Saturday morning at the Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, N.J. For the third year in a row, Quinnipiac will meet Fairleigh Dickinson in the finals which will take place tomorrow, Sunday, April 21 at 10 a.m.Three more school records fell as the Quinnipiac women’s outdoor track team continued their stellar campaign at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University at Weaver Stadium. Sophomore Becca Stabile (Haver-hill, Mass.) certainly impressed, running a personal and school-record in her signature event, the 400m hurdles. The Bobcats continue to make strides in both the short and long distance events as the NEC Conference Championship looms in just two weeks.April 21: At the Annual Quinnipiac Men’s Ice Hockey Awards Banquet at the University Club at the TD Bank Sports Center, head coach Rand Pecknold announced Eric Hartzell as the team’s Most Valuable Player for the 2012-13 season. Pecknold also recognized Travis St. Denis (Trail, British Columbia) as the team’s Rookie of the Year. Dan Federico (Acton, Mass.) and Clay Harvey (Gull Lake, Saskatchewan) were honored with the 7th Player Award while Kevin Bui (Edmonton, Alberta) was given the Coaches’ Award. Zach Davies (Smithers, British Columbia) earned this year’s Academic Award.Senior Lianne Toomey (Hicksville, NY) collected the 100th goal of her career on Sunday afternoon as the Quinnipiac women’s lacrosse team defeated the Saint Francis University Red Flash, 20-8, on Senior Day. Despite the win, the Bobcats playoff chances were dashed as Bryant earned the No. 3 seed with a win over Mount St. Mary’s who landed the No. 4 and final playoff spot. The Bobcats finish the 2013 season at 7-9 with a 5-4 mark in NEC action. The loss for the Red Flash drops them to 4-13 overall and 1-8 against NEC opponents.April 22: For the fourth time this season, junior Gill Conners (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) of the Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team was named the North-east Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced on Monday, April 22, 2013. Conners has been one of the nation’s best goalies this season and an instrumental piece to Quinnipiac’s roster.Senior Sarah Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.) of the Quinnipiac Women’s Lacrosse team was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week, announced on Monday April 22, 2013. The Glastonbury, Conn. native was instrumental for the Bobcats this past weekend, leading the team with 15 points on five goals and 10 assists in two games.The Quinnipiac Women’s Soccer team will be holding a “Take Me Out” fund-raiser event on Monday, April 22, to help benefit the Herron Project. The team has planned a night of fun to take place with other participating student-athletes based on the popular dating show. The event will be open to students around campus and will begin at 9 p.m. at Burt Khan Court. A $2 fee will be collected at the door with all proceeds going directly to the Herron Project.April 23: Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey goalie Eric Hartzell was honored as USCHO.com’s Player of the Year while also earning All-USCHO.com First Team honors.

Hartzell backed-up Tomas Vokoun in goal in the Penguins 3-1 win against the Ottawa Senators.April 24: Head coach Danie Caro has announced the Quinnipiac University Women’s Lacrosse team’s final fundraising total for their “Stick It To Cancer” event held on the weekend of April 5-7, 2013. The Bobcats raised $6,680.50 through the CT Coaches vs. Cancer program. All donations directly benefited the American Cancer Society.

Senior Taylor Healy (Milford, Conn.) was named the Quinnipiac University Women’s Soccer Player of the Year at the Quinnipiac men’s and women’s soc-cer program’s annual banquet on Saturday, April 20. Senior Shauna Edwards (Southington, Conn.) received the Players’ Player of the year accolade. While freshman Nicole Eriksen (Stamford, Conn.) was honored as the Newcomer of the Year. Additionally Angela Ellison (Peabody, Mass.) was selected as the Academic Player of the Year and senior Jill Kelley (Simsbury, Conn.) earned

Team Player of the Year for the second year in a row.April 25: The Quinnipiac University acrobatics & tumbling team claimed two NCATA Individual National Championships on Thursday evening, as the Bob-cats opened competition of the three-day event at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. Quinnipiac shared national titles in two out of the three pyramid events, accomplishing the feat for the second consecutive year.The Quinnipiac University women’s lacrosse team had three players named to the All-Conference teams, announced on Thursday, April 25, 2013 by Northeast Conference officials. Sarah Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Kyra Ochwat (Farmingdale, N.Y.) were tabbed to the NEC’s First Team, while Vicki Kuhn (East Hampstead, N.H.) was named to the NEC’s Second Team.Competing in the world’s most-illustrious track meet other than the Olym-pics, the Quinnipiac women’s outdoor track team posted two more school-records in what was an overall impressive outing on Thursday from the Penn Relays at Franklin Field. The Bobcats were led by an inspired effort from senior Andrea Szarkowicz (Watertown, Conn.) who completed her event with a Top-10 finish and new school record in the 3000m steeplechase while Quin-nipiac’s distance medley group also posted a new school-record on Thursday.April 26: The Quinnipiac University men’s soccer team held its annual banquet on Saturday, April 20, 2013 where the team announced its indi-vidual award winners for the 2012 season. Held at Laurel View Country Club in Hamden, Conn, Robbie McLarney (Londonderry, N.H.) was the man of the evening as the senior midfielder took home men’s soccer Player and Newcomer of the Year honors. Along with McLarney, William Cavallo (Lon-donderry, N.H.) was named the team’s Players’ Player of the Year, while Zach Friedenreich (Edison, N.J.) earned his second straight Academic Player of the Year accolade.

Quinnipiac freshman Krissy Unger (New York, N.Y.) finished in second place on the first day of the Northeast Conference Championship, while the Bobcats finished in fourth place out of the 11 team field after the tournament’s first 18 holes at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.The Quinnipiac women’s acrobatics and tumbling team defeated Azusa Pa-cific, 275.03- 269.945, at the TD Bank Sports Center on the York Hill Campus. The Bobcats took five out of the six events of the meet (Compulsory, Acro, Pyramid, Tumble and Team). This will be the first time in program history that the Bobcats advance to the NCATA National Championship Match.April 27: Quinnipiac University hosted its 30th annual Senior Awards Cer-emony on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Recreation Center on Mount Carmel Avenue, a banquet that recognizes academic, athletic and extracurricular achievements by selected students. Senior Spencer Kane (Wolcott, Conn.) of the baseball team and senior Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.) of the women’s tennis team were honored as the two recipients of the prestigious Scholar-Athlete award.

The Quinnipiac women’s acrobatics and tumbling team was defeated by the University of Oregon Ducks, 277.885- 273.655, in the NCATA National Championship match at the TD Bank Sports Center. The Bobcats completed a successful season with a 5-3 overall record and advancing to the NCATA Championship round for the first time in program history.After already breaking two outdoor school records on Friday, the Quinnipiac women’s outdoor track team capped their stint at the illustrious Penn Relays on Saturday with yet another record-breaking run. The 4 x 800m relay team was the only Bobcat group in action on Saturday and the squad put together a sensational run that beat an eight-year-old outdoor record. The Bobcats will certainly look to carry the positive momentum into next weekend’s NEC Championships.

The Quinnipiac women’s golf team followed a record-breaking performance on the first day of the NEC Championship with their second-best round in program history. The Bobcat are currently fourth of out 11 teams at the con-ference championship at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.The Quinnipiac University women’s golf team exceded the expectations of the Northeast Conference’s coaches for the second straight year, finishing seventh at the NEC Championship tournament after being picked to finish eighth.Quinnipiac University Director of Athletics Jack McDonald will receive the St. Francis Award from the Franciscan Life Center at the 28th Annual Franciscan Sports Banquet. The annual dinner will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, Conn.
