To learn, as part of that, that their fixed wing aircraft support our area, as well as most of Australia, for medical evacuation where necessary and how that works with the helicopter services was very interesting. We also had a joint meeting with Canberra East which I think was enjoyed by all. This continued our fellowship from the Royal Canb erra Show and we received a cheque for our contribution to the food stall. With great pleasure we welcomed Doug Mitchell to our Club as a Rotarian. This week our meeting will be on Tuesday - we will join the Rotary Club of Bungendore to listen to Prof. Hans Bachor AM on ‘Lasers Can Do Everything’ – 6.30 for 7pm start at the Council chambers in Bungendore. Please bring your own drinks and we will pay towards pizzas – look forward to seeing you there. Next week our meeting will on Monday 19 March as a joint meeting at Canberra East Club (held at Commonwealth Club) for speaker Peter Reith, Author War History. Rotary Club of Bungendore- public lecture
13 March 2012
On behalf of Rotary club of Bungendore I would like to invite your club to a very special evening on the 13thMarch. This will be a public lecture.
Laser play many important roles in our daily life without them many technologies, which we take for granted, would come to a halt. Where did the laser come from? Who invented it and why took it so long?
What might happen in the Future? This lecture, with demonstrations, will look at the concepts and peoplebehind the laser.
Hans was recently on the new inventors TV show and also has received the AM on Australia day for hiswork in the sciences and work with youth in NYSF. He is also a very active member in our club.
Please advise by email if your members would like to attend.

While I was dining out with my children, a friend of my neighbour, who recognized us, came over to our table,
and we started talking.
He asked where my kids go to school. I told him we home schooled them.
With a raised eyebrow, he asked if my husband is the sole breadwinner for our family.
I said, "No, I also work... but out of our home."
Then, noticing our two-month-old son, he mentioned that his daughter had just had a baby,
and he wondered what hospital our son was born in.
"He was born at home," I answered.
The man looked at me and said, "You don't get out much, do you?"
