Bat Watching Cruise on LadyBird Lake :: Friday, September 23rd

Our guests arecoming!

IHN (Interfaith Hospitality Network)guests are families with children who,because of a crisis situation in theirlives, have lost their homes. The pro-gram provides for them to live at Austinarea churches while they find housingand get back on their feet.During the week of September 11th —18th, four IHN families will live at ourchurch and will be fed and shelteredby volunteers at our church. This isyour opportunity to help these fami-lies through this time of crisis. Tasksperformed by hosts (SHPC folk andmembers of Faith PresbyterianChurch and Abiding Love LutheranChurch) include:

Our Sun-day schoolpro-gramcontin-ues to grow,so we'relooking for more peo-ple to join our team andinvest in the lives of our children! Up-Street is a dynamic curriculum based on36 virtues that are learned on a 3-yearschedule. Each week, we gather in smallgroups for opening activities; move toLarge Group where we watch the BibleStory played out through storytelling orvideo; and then return to small groups forsome wrap-up activities and prayer. Ifyou are interested in being a shepherd (asmall group leader for 6-8 children) at ei-

ther our 9:30 or 11:00 Up-Street program, please

John Calvin's Institutes of the ChristianReligion stands among the greatest worksof Christian theology and Western litera-ture. Calvin's stated desireis to give the readerthe necessary back-ground to read andaccurately handle thegreat doctrines andpromises of the Bible. He understooddoctrine to be more than theory, butsomething to mold our understanding ofGod, ourselves and the world in which welive. The Institutes, and our study, willloosely follow the outline of the Apostle'sCreed.
