What is the T-score? Subject T-score:
A number that says how well you did in the PSLE subject Determined by the MARK you scored Calculated for each of the subjects
Aggregated T-score: Total of the T-scores for all subjects Determines the secondary school you are posted to Add HMT points* to T-score: 3 points for Distinction, 2 for
Merit, and 1 for Pass (*Please refer to slide 18 & 19)

Malay/Higher Tamil will be invited to apply for these programmes AFTER the release of the PSLE results.
If the schools do not offer such courses, the pupils will have to study Higher Chinese/Higher Malay/Higher Tamil in designated centres outside curriculum time.

Common mistakes affecting your
daughter’s performance
Languages: AFIs Choice of composition topic – picture composition When answering question, answer from a third person point of
view. If the passage uses 我， pupils must answer with an open and inverted comma like this "我" or 作者。if they fail to do so, marks will be deducted.
When answering inferential questions, answer according to the main theme of the question.
Answer to the point, extra answers will have their marks deducted.
Try their best, do not give up! Do not leave any questions blank. Booklet A:
Spare some time to redo the questions in booklet A as their first attempt were done anxiously. When they are more settled down and get used to the exam, they will be able to think clearly.
Languages: AFIs Comprehension: Need to read the text and
understand it. Need to read the questions properly before answering them. Need to be precise in answers & use correct tense.
Cloze passage: Rushing & careless. Did not understand passage before selecting the answer.
EL - Spelling: inability to spell words like miraculously, discipline correctly
EL - Synthesis & Transformation: mistakes in reported speech, unnecessary change of tenses in questions that are not testing reporting speech, Not careful with Subject-Verb Agreement Grammar mistakes loss of 2 marks
Mathematics AFIs Carelessness, e.g.
100 x $0.05 = $50; use of wrong formula (e.g. area instead of circumference); focus on wrong concept, e.g. sought area instead of perimeter; wrong units reported, e.g. cm instead of m.
Area/circumference of semi/quarter circle tend to forget to divide by 2 or 4
Use of calculator even for simple calculations reliance on calculator. Paper 1: they are not allowed to use the calculator.
They could not perform simple calculation like 2.1 divided by 5.
Mathematics AFIs Not always indicating thought processes – Method
marks lost; only Answer marks (1) given. Stamina (unable to sit through the paper / restless):
Do not encourage pupils to take short breaks when they are doing a full paper at home
Do not think through questions, e.g. draw models to help them visualise the problem & processes to obtain solution.
Tend to mix up formulas, eg area of triangle & properties of triangles, volume and area of cube
Percentages & Fractions (e.g. % of %, fraction of a fraction, % of the remainder, fraction of the remainder), Ratio.
Science AFIs Lack of elaboration, e.g. just a one-word
explanation for process. Insufficient details for OE questions. No elaboration even when asked to make comparisons.
Wrong use of concept words, e.g. Magnets are attracted to the iron nails, instead of the iron nails are attracted to the magnets.
Did not read questions carefully, e.g. When asked When asked to set up A or B, the answer given was “Yes.”
Carelessness was also the cause of MCQ errors. Need to spend time to read/analyze questions carefully.
Do not use key words & Science concepts to explain answers
