Join the Senior Adult Ministries in collecting

Christmas Boxes for Seniors. These will be distributed to seniors anddisabled adults who Meals on Wheels hasidentified as needing something forChristmas. Many will receive nothing forChristmas nor will they have much tocelebrate. A Christmas Box will showthem that someone cares. These boxes should include a Christmascard, a few small decorations, a smallwrapped gift, and some everyday thingswe take for granted, but are luxuries ona limited budget.

SAM will collect these containers onNovember 27 and December 4. Considermaking this a family activity. Take the

kids or grandchildren shopping for theitems to go in the basket. Have themhelp pack the basket. Get the kids towrite a note, sign the Christmas card oreven draw a “Christmas scene” For othersuggestions and ideas, see our article onthe next page ormembers.shpc.org/sradult/XmasBoxes.php—cost is not the important thing! Ideas for Christmas Boxes for Seniors

Please keep the box under 20 pounds and about 2 cubic feet. Remember, volun-teers have to transport these in addition to their normal food deliveries. A plasticbox labeled as less than 10 gallons or 40 quarts will work. A cardboard box less than12” x 18” x 16” will work. Please do not place bows or other decorations on theoutside of the box. They make it difficult to transport without crushing the bows ordecoration.

Please be sure that the boxes close. This makes it easier for the volunteers totransport.
