    2011 MCLE Program Overview

    Maricopa County is glad youve decided to learn more about your local government, communityand environment.

    The Maricopa County Leadership Experience (MCLE) is a no-charge, self-directed, self-pacedexperience with activities, workshops and volunteer opportunities. Participants must bebetween the ages of 12-17 years old and reside in Maricopa County. Participants areresponsible for their own transportation to and from selected activities.

    Please pick and choose activities you would like to do and the dates that work best for you.

    Following the end of the program, August 23, you will receive recognition from the MaricopaCounty Board of Supervisors along with a certificate of completion.

    1. Select and attend one Orientation to receive the materials for the program. A Passportwill be provided at the Orientation; it will be used to track chosen experiences by havingCounty staff sign the Passport following the activity.

    2. Complete a minimum of 2 activities in each of the three sections offered: government,community and environment.

    3. Provide at least 10 hours of volunteer services.4. Participate in the Summer Reading Program offered by the Maricopa County Library

    District. You must read age-appropriate books. The program runs May 26 to July 30though you may start any time.Register and record reading online atwww.mcldaz.org/summer.
