RUMOURS, RUMOURS, RUMOURS..................... Where would we be without them?
Anyone signing on via our internet will go straight to the internet with no charge.
We are working hard to replace the lost funding and I am delighted to be able report that we have just received an anonymous donation of £3,000. I am not certain if this came about as a result of a recent interview, about our cut backs, which appeared in the Bournemouth Echo or the one on Radio Solent. Fortunately, I was able to thank our benefactor via the intermediary who made contact to arrange the payment. I am sure that all service users, trustees and other supporters would wish to join me in expressing our sincere appreciation and gratitude for this very generous contribution.
Other opportunities are being pursued and I hope to have further positive news in time for the next Newsletter. You can help be supporting our 2nd World Music Evening at the Verwood HUB on Friday 27th May 2011. Last year was truly out-standing and this year promises to be even better. For further details turn to page 2.

I suppose it was inevitable that, following the announcement of the reductions in our funding, rumours about our future would start to circulate. Some are very concerning and need to be addressed immediately. All of the following matters have been discussed locally and have been accompanied by the phrase “the trustees have decided”.
It is for example not true that we are losing one of our Support Workers. The trustees have no plans to ask either of them to leave and both Caroline and Tracy have assured me they are committed to Body Positive Dorset. Were that to change we would immediately seek a replacement.
I am not “on the way out” either, unless the trustees have simply not got round to telling me yet. Despite the need to increase the charge for therapies Mary is as busy as ever and, once again, is not “leaving shortly”. It is also not true that we are looking to merge with Terrance Higgins Trust, Positive Action, Tesco or anyone else.
Finally, on the rumour front, we are not charging for use of the internet. If a service user wrongly tries to sign on to the internet via BT FON they will get a message asking for £3 per hour to use the internet.
This is not us and is nothing to do with us, it is simply a commercial BT internet service which they operate to make money.
LucLucLuc---key Raffle... key Raffle... key Raffle... We will be selling raffle tickets for £1 or 6 for £5 in local bars & clubs. Each month there will be a draw and the winner announced on our website.

‘Ive’s adventure at KPS Trebullum’
...Ive recently won a week’s stay in the Kernow Positive Support Trebullom. Set in beautiful Bodmin, KPS Trebullom is a beautiful Respite & Retreat Sanctuary for those affected by HIV. Here’s what Ive had to say:
‘Here are some photos - my bedroom contains a 50" television!!! I will take some more before I come back. They are very good at what they do, today I went to Bodmin Moor, yesterday it was Launceston. Breakfast is served at 9am so you don't have to get up to early, the food is well prepared and cooked by John. All of the rooms are named after people who have passed on and you are given a small manual explaining what is
available etc. Thanks to all for this wonderful
time.’are trying to
have a lie in as it chimes 8 times for 8am
...Between 31 May and 2 June 2005,
GlaxoSmithKline organised a Conference in
Brussels bringing together around 90 attendees, mainly representatives from
pat ients' organizat ions, from 20
countries. The focus was on aspects of healthcare in Europe, with training and
networking opportunities.
From this meeting came the idea of setting
up a network of organisations driven by People Living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA) as
there was no network for HIV patient
organisations in Europe. Now this collective is a powerful force for change:
"Organisations of people living with HIV
are a key driving force in the AIDS
response, and with appropriate support individuals living with HIV can take a
central role in their own country, region,
or locality in the direction and delivery of AIDS programmes. Their participation
gives a personal power and immediacy
to AIDS efforts that drives and inspires
others into action." This quote comes from the
Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS.
The website is currently undergoing some development and only a temporary stripped
down site is online. It is never-the-less
important to offer support if you feel able.
