Dear Tri Sigma Sisters,On behalf of Executive Council, it is my honor to share with you the 2011 AnnualReport. This report describes the work completed by the Sorority during 2011. Asyou can see, our organization has a lot to be proud of!

The Annual Report allows us to take a look back, reflect and evaluate our accomplishments as well as offer a glimpse into our incredible future. I know thatour strategic direction will take our sisterhood in an innovative, character based direction. We’re continually looking for ways to change the world as Tri Sigmawomen, and we know that the five strategic focuses will help to position Tri Sigmaas fraternal game changers!

Our strategic direction has our staff and volunteers focusing on five key areas.Leadership, Communication, Growth, Character Education and Assessment will “direct our sails” as we move into the next phase of Tri Sigma.

The financial position of the Sorority continues to be solid, even in the midst ofeconomic uncertainty. Membership numbers and financial operations once againremained strong for 2011. We are pledging more than 2800 women a year, andour retention rate is more than 89%. We continue to work hard to engage ouralumnae and get them connected as well. We’re working to ensure your informa-tion in our database is accurate and reflects the full measure of the wonderfulalumnae who are initiated into our lifelong bond.

We care about connecting with all of our members, where they are, every day. Our social media outlets, including our blog, Twitter, LinkedIn, Flickr, Pinterest andFacebook accounts have continued to grow in popularity, and many members arefinding that this is a great way to stay connected to Tri Sigma. We will continue tokeep our members connected through many different means of communication.

I can’t begin to express enough thanks for all of your efforts that contribute to the growth and the strength of our organization. It is because of all of you thatTri Sigma is strong and will continue to remain a viable organization for years tocome. Thank you!

Our Strategic Direction

Our mission, vision and values underscore everything we do. We are an organizationfocused on innovative, values-congruent action that enhances the lives of morethan 100,000 members.

The Tri Sigma Mission Statement: To establish among its members a perpetualbond of friendship, to develop in them strong womanly character and to impressupon them high standards of conduct – in other words, Friendship, Character andConduct.

The Tri Sigma Vision Statement: Sigma Sigma Sigma will provide exceptional experiences that will empower women to change the world.

The Tri Sigma Values Statement: Sigma Sigma Sigma reaffirms its long standingcore values of wisdom, power, faith, hope and love.

This year, the Executive Council and staff partnered to develop a visionary framework for the next stage in our organizational direction. This will direct our activity for the next 5 years, and will shape our priorities, pursuits, and performance expectations.

LEADERSHIPProvide exceptional personal empowerment and leadership development forwomen that will lead to individual and organizational success.

COMMUNICATIONTo position Sigma Sigma Sigma National Sorority as a character and values-based,mission driven, innovative and progressive organization.

Membership - Alumnae

Alumnae Notes:

• November 2011 we installed the Central Massachusetts Alumnae Chapter• As of January 2012, there are 32 locations where alumnae members have

expressed interest in starting an alumnae chapter.• A strategic goal has been updated to assess current alumnae chapter operations

in order to revise procedures and resources and meet the needs of our alumnae chapter members. The objective is for our alumnae chapters to provide an experience which is meaningful to their members, supports the mission of Tri Sigma and gives back to their local community.

Collegiate Notes:

• The number of new initiates in 2010/2011 was 2,770.• New Member retention is steady at 93% for 2010/2011.• Conducted an assessment to determine Tri Sigma’s current chapter niche.

The evaluation determined that: Tri Sigma is at our best and consistently performing (Recruitment, GPA, Retention, and Accreditation) in two key areas:

Conditions for Campus I (33 chapters in this area):• Average Chapter Size is 50-70 and CPH total is 40-80 • 4-8 other NPC Groups • An average of 4 CAB per chapter (or an average of 1:25 CAB to Student Ratio)• Other potential Factors:

- PSR chapters more consistently perform or are over total- Tri Sigma chapters who do spring recruitment have a higher % of total

Conditions for Campus II (7 chapters in this area):• Campus total of 100+ with UNIVERSITY PROVIDED HOUSING (4 groups with

chapter built free-standing housing = 80% of total while 4 groups with chapter floors provided by the university = 116% of total).

• An average of 7 CAB per chapter (for consistent performance)

• Launched a new Collegiate Resource Center in Sigma Connect which includes over 200 resources, educational tools, templates, or assessments to help chapters in all areas of chapter operations.

• Created a series of Collegiate Volunteer committees who worked with other chapters around the country on various topics to make recommendations to Executive Council. The work of 3 committees will be finalized and implemented in fall 2012 including changes in the Honor Council, Collegiate Elections process,and risk management policies.

• Tri Sigma celebrated the installation of the Theta Gamma and Theta Delta Chapters. The Alpha Delta Chapter was recolonized at Drexel University with an installation date of April 2012.

• Tri Sigma evaluated their collegiate billing and impacts the fees were having on recruitment and retention. A proposed plan was presented to collegiate chapters and sought their feedback and input. A vote was taken by the chapters and by an overwhelming majority, the plan was supported and will be implemented July 1, 2012. It allows for lower new member fees, payment plans for national fees, and the ability to electronically transfer money from a chapter’s BillHighway account to National Headquarters.

• We launched a Recruitment Toolkit to prepare our membership recruitment directors with a fun, assessment and needs focused resource platform, all of which is accessible on Sigma Connect.

• Our Sigma Connect training platform has continued to grow to meet the needs and challenges of our members. The Officer and Chairman Training Program, which can be reviewed and completed on-line, offers new officers and chairmen information specific to their roles. The Triangle and Circle Sequences have added some fun, non-traditional learning options for our members.

• The Program Team, led by Emmy Smith, undertook a complete evaluation and update of the educational programs offered on Sigma Connect.

• Through our Character Initiative, Tri Sigma has strengthened our commitment to our roots, our heritage. We have incorporated into our strategic plan a number of initiatives related to character and character development of our members. We have a group of 24 members serving on an Advocate Team leading our character initiative and work with character education.

• Tri Sigma made a commitment to offer innovative, relevant leadership development opportunities and programming designed with a lifelong learningexperience in mind. But most of all, we are committed to developing character-driven leaders using our core values of wisdom, power, faith, hope and love.

The Labyrinth Leadership Experience, whichwas launched in June of 2012 is designed tobe a five-day intense leadership journey forour collegiate and alumnae members inWashington, D.C. and ending with a sojournto Walton House.
