The calls will be scheduled for mid-December, prior to the start of conference action; early January, at the start of Conference play; and Tuesday, March 6, prior to the start of the Paci!c Life Pac-12 Tournament. 2012 PACIFIC LIFE PAC-12 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
LOS ANGELES, CALIF.
The 11th-annual Paci!c Life Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Tourna-ment heads back to Los Angeles for the fourth-straight year. The men’s and women’s tournaments have been combined, once again, with the !rst two rounds of the women’s event taking place at Galen Center on March 7 and 8. The women head over to STAPLES Center, which has been the home of the men’s tournament for 10 years, to see the new Pac-12 Champion crowned. The combination of the tournament will creates a fan-friendly, festival-like atmosphere for all to enjoy.
The Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Tournament made its debut in 2002 and was held on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene, Ore. The Conference’s premier women’s sporting event then moved to HP Pavilion at San Jose for a six-year run (2003-08). The winner of the 12-team tournament receives the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship. The tournament seeding and Conference Champion are determined by the 18-game regular-season Pac-12 schedule.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA’s Candice Warthen was named Bank of the West Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the opening week of the season, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. A sophomore, Warthen led the Wildcats to a pair of season-opening wins on the road over the week-end.
A native of Warrenton, Ga., Warthen averaged 24.5 points per game, including a career-high 36-point effort in a 79-66 win at Georgia State. She had !ve three pointers en-route to a career night, going 11-for-18 (61.1 percent) from the "oor and 9-for-10 from the free throw line. In the 88-46 season-opening win at Georgia Southern, Warthen netted 13 points, handed out !ve assists and had four steals.
In addition to averaging 24.5 ppg, Warthen shot 53.3 percent from the !eld (16-for-30), 84.6 from long range (6-for-11) and 84.6 percent from the free throw line (11-for-13).
It is the !rst-career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor for Warthen and Arizona’s 39th all-time.
