After winning just four games a season ago, the Hornets have rattled off 11 wins this season, matching the most season wins since 2005. Prior to 2005, the last season with 10+ victories was in 1997. LC has also earned the seventh seed for the ODAC Tournament, the first time LC has reached seventh or higher in the ODAC since placing seventh during the 1996 and 1997 seasons. While LC sports an 11-14 record overall, the team has gone 11-12 against non-Division I opponents. With a good recruiting class filled with several talented players, look for the Hornets to continue their rise up the ODAC standings under the Hilliary Scott era. 2009-10 Schedule and Results NOVEMBER 15 (Sun.) PREVIOUS MEETINGS: The Hornets and Maroons met twice this season and each team protected their home court with a win. Roanoke notched a 95-88 win over the Hornets in Salem on December 5th and has proceeded to go 2-17 afterwards while LC went 10-8 since then. Melvin Felix posted 24 points and Logan Singleton 15 while LC was led by Steven Echols’ 25 points and eight as- sists. LC won the rematch 87-76 and led the entirety of the contest as Echols dropped 26 points and seven assists while Nate Campbell contributed 18 points and 10 boards. Roanoke was led by Matt Crizer’s 16 points along with 13 from Kendrick Chittock. HORNETS: LC’s 11 wins this season are the most since 2005 and just their fifth season of 10 or more wins since the 1990’s. The #7 seed in the ODAC Tourna- ment is also the highest it has earned since the 1996 and 1997 seasons when the Hornets were seeded seventh. The Hornets are led by Echols who averages 18.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 3.3 steals. Also a late bloomer but a huge reason for LC’s success of late has been Austin Chillemi who has aver- aged 9.7 points in 17.2 minutes a game while shooting 55% from the floor and averaging 4.3 boards and 1.7 blocks. MAROONS: Roanoke, on the other hand, has won just six games this season to earn the 10th seed to the ODAC Tournament. This marks their first losing season since 2003-04 and just their 10th since the Post-World War II era. The last time Roanoke failed to win 10 or more games was in 1976-77 when the Maroons went just 4-23. Roanoke has four players averaging between 10.6 and 11.4 points, highlighted by 11.4 points from sixth man Melvin Felix, who is our for the game due to injury. HORNETS’ NEXT GAME: The winner of the game will go to Salem, VA, to play #2 seed Guilford College in the Quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament from the Salem Civic Center.
