Lake Hammock Parking
At the LHV HOA meeting last Tuesday I introduced our new "Parking Permit” for your
guests. Since we had such a small attendance of residents at the meeting I am sending this
email so that all residents will know about this from me and not from "word of mouth" which
sometimes is not repeated in accuracy.
As per our Rules and Regulations, Paragraph # 10,”Parking of vehicles on the lawns is not
permitted. The Park reserves the right to remove such vehicle (s) in the Park at its
sole discretion. Temporary parking on vacant lots is permitted for guests of residents;
however, overnight parking is not permitted. Overnight guests needing parking
arrangements other than in their host's driveway must contact the Park Manager in
advance."
Parking Permit: When you are going to have a guest at your house and they are unable to
park in your driveway and there is a vacant lot close to your home, your guest are allowed to
park there with a Parking Permit. "IF" it is only for a few hours than a Parking Permit is not
required. "IF" it will be for overnight or all day a Parking Permit will be required. The
Parking Permit can be obtained at the office and will have your lot number and dates that
your guest will be parking on the vacant lot. The Parking Permit should be placed on the
dashboard of your guest vehicle.
Parking of a resident's vehicle (including golf carts) is NOT allowed on any vacant lot or
your grass. We have extra temporary parking at the side of the Clubhouse if needed.
Please do not park in front of the clubhouse unless you are there for clubhouse activity or
clubhouse visit.
A 'notice' will be placed on any vehicle parked in the grass or in a vacant lot without a
Parking Permit. If the vehicle is not removed it will be considered an "unauthorized" vehicle
and will be removed at the vehicle's owner's expense. This is as per our Rules and
Regulations and this is also posted at the entrance of our park.
If you have any questions, please come in and see me or give me a call at the office.
Thanking you all for your cooperation.

Facts about May
Emerald is the birthstone for May.
Hawthorn and Lily of the Valley are the flowers for the month of May.
According to the early Roman calendar, May was the third month. Later, the ancient
Romans used January 1 for the beginning of their year, and May became the fifth month.
May has always had 31 days.
Several stories are passed around to show how the month of May was named. The most
widely accepted explanation is that it was named for Maia, the Roman goddess of spring
and growth. Her name related to a Latin word that means increase or growth.
May is one of the most beautiful months of the year in the North Temperate Zone. Usually
the snow and ice are gone and the hot temperatures haven't arrived. The first garden
begins to sprout in May. The wild flowers are blooming, and the trees and grasses have
turned green. Wild flowers that bloom in different parts of America are the forsythia,
dogwood, violets, and jack-in-the-box. Many birds have built their nests, and mother birds
are sitting on the eggs, which will soon hatch.
The Kentucky Derby takes place on the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs,
Louisville, Kentucky. It is the most famous horse race in the United States.
Many Mexican Americans celebrate what they call Cinco De Mayo, on May 5th. It is the
anniversary of the Mexican victory over the French at Puebla in 1862. It is a national
holiday in Mexico.
Mother's Day (May 9th) was first observed in 1908. It was designated by Presidential
proclamation, and was recognized officially by Congress and the President in 1914. It is
celebrated in honor of Mothers.
Armed Forces Day is celebrated the third Saturday of May. The United States honors
the men and women of the military services. The Armed Forces Day Celebration combined
the Army, Navy, and the Air Force in 1950. Prior to that year, they had been held at
separate times.
Memorial Day or Decoration Day is observed, in most states of the United States, the
last Monday in May. It is a legal holiday and is observed in memory of those who died while
serving the United States in war. The graves of the war heroes are decorated with
flowers. It was first observed in 1866.

of our May 11th (Tuesday) trip. The museum, located in Lakeland, currently
has four exhibitions in addition to their regular collection. They are “Florida

“Functional Ceramics”. We will see the museum at your pace and then travel
to Zohras for lunch. Zohras restaurant is located on Lake Wire and provides

attorney and counselor at law will be our featured after dinner speaker. Linda

elder law issues. Plan on joining us for dinner and stay for up-to-date information
within the field of elder law.
Early dining will be Friday, May 28th at La Fiesta Mexicana in downtown Haines
City. We will meet at the club house at 5:00 pm to car pool to the restaurant. The
mariachi band is scheduled to begin playing at 6:00 pm.

cooking and beverages before the atmosphere
becomes electric as the band begins to play!
Memorial Day, Monday, May 31st concludes the
month's activities. Join your neighbors at the pool at noon
for a short ceremony which will include raising a new USA
flag. Then we'll all travel back to our own Lake Hammock
dock for a hot dog roast courtesy of the HOA Board. We
will enjoy the new tables and grills that have recently been
installed by our park's owners. Bring a dish to share, a
portable chair and your own favorite beverage. See you
