Don’t forget about swine flu vaccines

“Overdose bills a step in the right direction”(George Artsitas, April 8, 2010) Opinion

Anonymousposted 4.8.10 @ 2:50 P.M.My pharmacist has tried to give me another person’s prescription three times. I always look at the bottle to make sure I recognize the drug that I am supposed to take before I pay for the prescription. I sometimes wonder if the other person with my name has been given my prescription inadvertently.

“Shurtleff right to attack health care reform”(Crystal Perry, April 8, 2010) Opinion

Facultyposted 4.8.10 @ 6:53 A.M.Congress was irresponsible with this. It isn’t healthcare reform. It’s just an attack against the insurance companies. We definitely need healthcare reform, but this wasn’t it. Obama is sacrificing the financial future of a nation. People need to wake up.It was ridiculous right after the vote seeing Nancy Pelosi bragging that this was the best entitlement program since Medicare and Social Security WHICH ARE BOTH BROKE YOU IDIOT!

Zigposted 4.8.10 @ 10:39 A.M.While I tend to agree, my problem with starting over is that there are a lot of people who can’t wait

didn’t seem to offer much of anything useful in the mean time...

SlickSophieposted 4.8.10 @ 2:01 P.M.

those of you who argue that we should not force people to have insurance: if using that logic then we shouldn’t force people who do not have children in public school to pay the school tax that is included in their property taxes, and we shouldn’t be forcing smokers to pay extra

insured people need medical attention, do you suggest the hospital do a credit check to determine if said person can afford the care they need? That would go over well. Think people...honestly. Stop being sheep and start using your brains. You can say that people shouldn’t be

care that could cost thousands....suggestions?

“ ‘Morning Joe’ discusses media bias”(Trent Lowe, April 13, 2010) News

Lisaposted 4.13.10 @ 5:43 P.M.Both these guys are full of it. The media has become so conservative that what used to be centrist seems “liberal”. There are no liberals on network television and the few liberals on MSNBC are small beacons of light in the conservative black hole.

mesamanposted 4.13.10 @ 7:37 P.M.You are not from this planet, right? An alien from a planet on the far left of our galaxy, right? No liberals on network TV, right? PMS, right?

1. Do you plan on eventually attending grad school?

2. Do C’s get degrees, or do you aim for straight A’s?

3. Are you planning to attend a graduation ceremony this year?

I’m a physics and math major. I don’t really have any long term plans with my major, so I haven’t really thought about going on to grad school. I haven’t really, like, pursued getting that education until I know exactly what I want to do with it.

I de!nitely try to do my best and get A’s in all my classes.

Not really. I don’t really have any...I guess I do have quite a few friends graduating but we can celebrate in other ways than the formal graduation process.

I have no idea right now.

I try to get straight A’s. I know I’m not going to get straight A’s, but I try to so I can get as high as possible.

No, I don’t really know anyone who is graduating this year.

I do, mostly for economic reasons because it’s kind of a path to a higher-income bracket. And also because I’m pretty comfortable at school, so why not do more?

I guess I sort of aim for A’s. I usually get A minuses and B plusses. I don’t have the C’s for degrees mentality because I plan on going to graduate school, so you have to do a little bit more.

Yeah, my own. Just because I’m graduating this year.

Yeah, I think it would be cool to. Right now the goal is !nishing my bachelor’s. That’s the big challenge right now. I think if I did I would be interested in either law or an MBA. Basically just to open have more doors opened for me, be more successful in life I guess.

I de!nitely try to do the best I can. Due to life’s challenges and time constraints and everything going on and everyday life, it can be hard to balance time for everything sometimes. So I mean, I de!nitely try to do my best, sometimes I don’t always get straight A’s. It’s all about passing of course, but it’s also about trying to do as well as you can.

Yes, I am actually. One of my brothers is graduating so I’ll be attending his.

I’m planning on getting my master’s in education. I just feel that if you make it this far getting your bachelor’s you might as well just keep going. It never hurts to have more education.

When I !rst got to college it was like, I want straight A’s and everything like that. I don’t know, after I realized that that’s not always possible in all your classes I just tried to do my best. And hopefully it’s A’s, B’s, but if I get a C I’m not going to cry over it.

Yeah, actually both of my brothers ended up graduating the same year, so I’m going to the graduation ceremony for them.

4. Who has been your favorite professor this year? I’m taking a class in environmental global issues and sustainability. And Fred Montague is the one who teaches it, and I’ve really appreciated all his thoughts on life and everything he has to teach me.

I would say Chambliss. It just blows my mind how much he knows, all his knowledge. And I just love listening to him lecture.

I’m a political science student, so professor Yavuz, he’s pretty cool. I was just in his class just now. He’s probably my favorite this semester.

Probably my foreign policy professor, Steven Lobell. He’s really knowledgeable. I think his class is pretty di"cult, but it’s a good challenge and it’s a way to keep me motivated to keep up, so I don’t fall behind. But it’s really interesting and...yeah, I like his style of teaching.

Probably Lanise Thompson, she’s my Spanish professor. She’s just really easy-going and really nice, and you can relate to her as a professor.

5. What has been the biggest news story of the school year? I’ve spent a lot of time researching global warming lately, and I think it’s an issue that is imperative for us to look at to !nd solutions for. And so, I’ve been very attuned to any issues that come out with that.

College tuition going up. I don’t like that.

It’s de!nitely the health care debate, so yeah, that’s the biggest for sure. It’s big because it a#ects everyone. Either people who don’t want to change what they already like, or people who really dislike what they currently have. Everyone has a stake in that one.

Maybe the recent occurrence in Haiti and how the world has been responding to that massive catastrophe. I !nd it interesting that we only started paying attention to Haiti once this earthquake hit them but really for a long period of time they’ve been in poverty.

I kind of feel like the health care, with Obama, was really important and actually a#ects all of us. I think it’s kind of sad that not as many people know more about it.
