CONSTRUCTION All welded heavy duty steel construction. Standard with 125/150# ANSI Steel Plate Flanges on inlet and outlet. A varierty of flanges or connections are available to meet specific requirements. Internals consist of special acoustical fiberglass packing adjacent to concentric perforated cylinders – creating an annular flow passage design. In addition, special cone reducers and side inlets are available when required. Reducers allow a smooth transition when the line size is smaller than the inlet of the silencer. Side inlets are also available to provide convenience of installation as well as the beneift of an additional 3 to 5 dB’A’ attenuation.
The 205 is truly a versatile silencer. In addtion to standard engine applications, it is extensively used in gas turbine, blower, compressors, vacuum pump applications and Dyno-Room exhaust applications.

COOL Series
Cool Series. Features compressed thermal/acoustical fiberglass packed shell. In addition to its acoustical values, the one (1) inch thick packed shell design provides a significant reduction in the outer surface temperature. Actual values depend on the exhaust B temperature and ambient conditions. This makes the 401-C1-5100 ideal for enclosures or restricted areas where heat is critical.
Typical Attenuation: 30 to 34

GT Exhaust Systems, Inc. THERMAL INSULATION SPECIFICATIONS
FOR THERMAL INTERNAL & EXTERNAL PACKED SILENCERS AND OUTER WRAPS
1. General Information Removable, reusable thermal insulation blankets are a custom designed, flexible, blanket insulation for use on equipment which requires periodic maintenance and/or inspection.
2. Materials and Method of Construction
• The insulation material meets the following
specifications: • High density (11#/cu.ft.) chopped fiberglass
rated for 1200o F (649o C). Fiberglass is composed of 100% Type “E” fibers, fabricated in a mat form and is free of asbestos. Mat complies to the following specifications:
4. Design Removable insulation blankets will be custom designed and engineered for each order. All drawings will be kept on file, and copies are available for Customer review. 5. Thermal Conductivity
K Value at 11 lbs/cu.ft (per ASTM C 177)
Surface Temperature Up to 1200o F
Fire Resistance Incombustible Density (approximate) 11 lbs/cu.ft.
Loss in Weight @ 1200 F Up to 2% Moisture Absorption Negligible
Softening Point 1500 F Strain Point 1100 F
Annealing Point 1200 F Fusion Temperature No fusion
Notes: 1) When the silencer's insulation is an external blanket, it is going to insulate better than an internally insulated
silencer because the external blanket doesn't have exhaust flow interactions with the insulation to reduce its effectiveness. Also, silencers have thin internal wall structures that will conduct heat to the outer shell that does not get insulated with internal insulation, creating "hot spots" on the outer shell.
2) Outer liner for external wraps consists of a high temperature, silicone rubber coated fiberglass cloth. Fabric meets MIL-C-20079E. Continuous rating at 500 F. Intermittent rating at 700 F. Three to four inch air space is recommended around external insulation to keep heat from building up at the silicone rubber surface.
