Its location also gives our teams an excellent opportunity to view the nation’s top crews and coaches in ac- tion. The finish line to the 2,000-meter racecourse is only 500 meters downstream. The DeWolfe Boathouse is named after the grandparents of Richard B. DeWolfe (MET ’71) a former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Boston University and major benefactor to the college and the boathouse campaign. In July of 1998, the demolition of the original structure took place. The award-win- ning building was completed in the fall of 1999, just in time to welcome the class of 2003. The new boathouse is now one of the premiere rowing centers in the country. The facility is state-of-the-art in design and function. The main floor contains a large workout area, which includes 24 ergometers, numerous plyo balls, exercisers, stretching machines and arm weights. Also on this level are spacious locker rooms for men and women, coaches’ offices, and a team meeting/trophy room. The ground floor includes six boat bays and repair shop. The outdoor bal- cony affords our crews, parents, alumnae, and friends the best view in Boston! Our fleet of boats now includes five racing eights, five train- ing eights, two racing fours, two training fours, three singles and eight pair/doubles. Our athletes have access to a 16-person tank room conveniently located on West Campus, adjacent to the team workout room and the varsity weight room. The train- ing room and academic support center are also located in this complex. Boathouse Boston University Main Campus THE DEWOLFE BOATHOUSE the boathouse

The coaches at Boston University support our athletes’ pursuit of rowing and coxing at the elite level. Our emphasis on small boat rowing, our encouragement of participa-
tion in national team testing and our extra attention to assist in preparation for selection serve to develop the athlete for international competition. Several of our current
athletes are submitting test results in hope of being invited to the U23 selection camp for their countries this coming summer.
Also, it’s not unheard of for a walk-on to not only succeed at the college level but at the U23 and National Team level. One third of the US Olympic Team is normally
comprised of young women who never rowed before college. Walk-ons, who show real promise in their college years, will be given the encouragement and direction needed to
pursue rowing dreams beyond college.
Listed here are some of our former athletes who have achieved success on the national and international level.
