Importance of Algebraic Thinking

Algebraic thinking includes understanding and use of properties of numbers and relationships among numbers.

Algebraic Thinking was chosen as the content focus because it lays the foundation for the learning of algebra in middle school and high school.

It takes most students a long time to develop algebraic thinking, so it is important to begin this work in the primary grades.
