Job Titles This document is intended to be used by application specialists and/or SCADA system engineers who are responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining a SCADA system containing GD60 units.

Experience & This User’s Guide assumes that anyone working with a GD60 has some prior Abilities knowledge of:

Product A Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number must accompany all Returns equipment being returned to GDEPRI for repair, servicing, or for any other

reason.

GDEPRI will not accept product returns unless accompanied by the Return Merchandise Authorization number. Please contact GDEPRI Power Control & Protection, to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization number and for complete instructions for return shipments, before attempting to return any products.

6.Warranty

Terms and Conditions GDEPRI Power Control & Protection warrants each GD60 product to be free

of defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of 24 months from the date of shipment from the factory. In the event of a failure covered by warranty, GDEPRI Power Control & Protection will undertake to repair or replace the unit without charge, providing that the warrantor has determined that it is defective.

Warranty shall not apply to any unit which has been subject to: § Misuse § Negligence § Accident § Incorrect installation § Use of this product in a manner not specified by GDEPRI Power

Control & Protection in this User’s Guide. § Alterations by anyone other than GDEPRI Power Control &

Protection, or an authorized representative.

GDEPRI Power Control & Protection is not liable for special, indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of profit or expenses sustained as a result of a product malfunction, incorrect application or adjustment.

7.Safety Precautions

Important Follow all safety precautions and instructions in this manual:

? Only qualified personnel should work on the GD60 RTU. Maintenance personnel should be familiar with the technology and the hazards associated with electrical equipment.

? Read and thoroughly understand this User’s Guide before using the GD60 RTU. Save these instructions for later use and reference.

? All AC voltage and current terminals are protected from accidental contact by mechanical safety shields. The GD60 has been designed so that field wiring does not have to be touched or disconnected when removing printed circuit boards (PCBs).

? Modules that hold potentially hazardous voltages are designed to be removed with a PCB puller (located inside of GD60 front cover, on the edge of the Indicator Switch Card). Always use the puller provided.

? The Local/Remote switch (on the front panel of the GD60) has a mechanical protector to prevent accidental operation of the switch. The switch can be locked in either position.

? All electronic components within the GD60 are susceptible to damage from electrostatic discharge. Observe standard precautions for handling electronic components.

Hazardous Voltages can cause shock, burns or death. 1. Disconnect and lockout all power sources before servicing and

removing components. 2. Short all current transformer primaries before servicing.

Flexible Communication § Communication flexibility optionally provides RS-232/485 serial

communication ports or dual Ethernet LAN (DNP/UDP/IP, IEC870-5-104, IEC61850) ports.

§ Eight RS-232/485 serial ports interface to legacy IEDs or Master stations. § The extensive GDEPRI library of interfaces is available for the GD60 to

interface with over 50 different Master Station, RTU, IEDs. § Optional UTC port allows for global satellite time synchronization. § Maintenance port support provides access to GD8Config.

1-3 Plug-in Options

3 Components The essential components of the GD60 can be broken into three groups:

1. Hardware 2. Software 3. Communications.

The metal GD60 housing contains the fundamental hardware, base software, and communication facilities to operate as a fully functional stand-alone control system.

Indicator LEDs on the front panel provide information about the operation and status of the GD60. The housing also has capacity to accept a variety of optional and expansion cards to increase the functionality of the GD60. The GD60 provides a wide range of configurations for communication module, digital inputs, digital outputs, and AC and DC analog inputs in a compact package. Or with chain rack mount enclosure for scalable RTU and control systems

The GD60 utilizes an innovative multi-processor design to provide the large number of functions at best-in-class levels of performance. This allows communications response performance to far exceed that provided by most other RTU or IEDs — even while concurrently executing: ? peer-to-peer and file transfer applications on the LAN

? waveform and event recording on up to 256 analog channels ? Up to 512 digital Output channel ? SOE monitoring on up to 1960 digital input channels ? PLC algorithms ? data polls from IEDs ? metering and power quality functions in real time.

Communication Options

The GD60 architecture includes plug-in options for the substation LAN, serial,or other communications to a host system. This allows the device to interface to the GDEPRI iSCS Ethernet LAN withfiber optic, twisted-pair options. Serial interfaces are user selectable, to choose RS232 or RS485 options

iSCS Ethernet Functioning as a LAN node, the GD60 supports:

LAN Node § peer-to-peer and client/server applications to other IEDs or nodes, such as the GDEPRI D200 and PowerNet graphical user interface.

? file transfer of code and configuration files ? virtual or “loop through” connection support for internal functions and

connected IEDs.

Serial Options When equipped with the serial port interfaces, the GD60 can function as a:

? standalone IED ? PLC ? RTU supporting the complete GDEPRI library of over 60 host protocols

including DNP and MMS.

Unpacking Inspect package before opening to see if it has sustained any damage from impact or water. If it has, report it immediately without opening it. Carriers may not assume responsibility for damage after the customer accepts delivery.

Carefully remove the GD60 from its packaging. Visually inspect the unit to ensure it has not sustained any visible damage during transit.

Product Before installing the unit, check the part number on the back of the unit is in Identification agreement with the shipping and ordering documents.

Front Panel The front panel contains three user interface components:

? USB or Ethernet RJ45 connector for attaching the GD60 to a maintenance terminal or PC.

? LEDs for visual cues about status and operation of the GD60 and traffic on communication ports.

? LEDs for visual cues about digital input/output status , operation of the GD60 I/O modules and traffic on communication ports.

? Local/Remote control switch for setting local or remote operational state of the digital output module.

? Optional LCD Display allows a user to display selected data that is stored in the GD60 database.

? Keypad is used to navigate around the menus shown on the LCD display. Keypad is only present if LCD option is included.

2.3 Power connectors 2.3.1 Main power connector (CN1) This connector provides main power supply to CPU board and bottom board.

2.3.2 Backup power connector (CN2) This CN2 is a duplication of CN1 in GD80 to provide alternative power supply connector in case of failure. 2.5 COM port The GD80 provides three serial ports (COM1:RS-232; COM2,3: RS-232/485). The COM port connector is a 8-pin, RJ-45 header. It provides connections for serial devices (a mouse, etc.) or a communication network. You can find the pin assignments for the COM port connector in Table 1-1.

Note that: The pin which is beside the power supply connector is known as first pin (pin 0). 2.5.1 COM1 RS-232 port setting (P1) COM1 is only operated in RS-232 mode. 2.5.2 COM2/COM3 RS-485 port setting (P2, P3) COM2/COM3 can be configured to operate in RS-232, RS-485 mode. This is done via the system software. 2.6 LCD interface connections The GD80 LCD interface is capable of driving a wide range of flat panel displays. The board has two connectors to support this display features, one for one for flat panel displays output and one for LCD backlight. 2.6.1 LCD display connector (CN5) CN5 consists of a 30-pin, dual-inline header which can support a 24-bit LCD panel. Power supply (3.3 V) present on CN5 depends on the supply connected to the board. 2.6.2 LCD Backlight connector (CN4) 2.7 SD card connector (CN9) The GD80 can support a wide range of compatible SD card. 2.8 USB connectors (CN10) There is both USB slaver and USB master connector on the board. The pin assignments will show to you in the Figure 1-1.

2.9 COM R/T LED interface (L1) The GD80 provide six LED to indicate the receive/transmit status of each COM port. One COM port state is composed of a green LED and a red LED. The green one mean there is something been transmitting and the red one mean the COM port is receiving. The table 1-2 will show you the LED assignments.

Background Note: This section discusses the configuration of the GD60_IO control board option, only.

All control relays of the GD60_IO module use 4-pole momentary contacts so that both connections to an external load, or an interposer relay, may be switched for additional control security.

Output Options The GD60_IO control outputs are divided into 2 groups of 4.

COM0(RS232): The WESMAINT II+ DB9-F connector on the front panel is a standard feature of the GD60_IO.

RTDB , an acronym for RealTime DatatBase, is the database manager for the GD60’s system point database. The System Point Database is the heart of the GD60 software system, where all data flowing through the unit is stored before passing on to its destination

The GD60 DCA applications collect data from GD60 modules. It contain GD60DI, GD60DO, GD60IO, GD60AI, GD60ACI modules.

Calculator application

The GD60 Calculator application make new data by calculator formula and build control logic to execute user defined automatic control.

HMI application

HMI , an acronym for Human Machine Interface, is an application for display the pic, state in the local monitor if exists. IEC101 protocol application

GD60 can talk with master station using most popular protocol. such as IEC870-5-101 protocol. By using IEC101 protocol, GD60 can exchange data with master station.

8-4 Plant I/O Subsystem

The set of applications which will be present in almost all GD60s is the Plant I/O Subsystem. (P097)

The GD60 Plant I/O Subsystem is responsible for collecting, processing, and storing all data related to physical inputs and outputs. Part of the subsystem, the Plant I/O Data Collection Application (DCA) interfaces with the I/O processors to gather their data and to update the system database. Through the system database, the DCA maintains an interface that allows other applications to access the data associated with the GD60 I/O points.

? The Plant I/O is responsible for the timely scanning of all physical I/O points available on the GD60.

? For input type points (digital, analog, and accumulator), the data of each scan is compared to previous known data.

? Any changes are recorded in the system database and then reported to other applications as needed.

2. SAFETY Warning: this safety section should be read before commencing any work on the equipment.

2.1 Health and Safety

The information in the Safety Section of the product documentation is intended to ensure that products are properly installed and handled in order to maintain them in a safe condition. It is assumed that everyone who will be associated with the equipment will be familiar with the contents of the Safety Section.

2.2 Earth The term earth used throughout the product documentation is the direct equivalent of the Chinese and North American term ground.

2.3 Installing, Commissioning and Servicing Equipment connections Personnel undertaking installation, commissioning or servicing work on this equipment should be aware of the correct working procedures to ensure safety. The produce documentation should be consulted before installing,commissioning or servicing the equipment. Terminals exposed during installation, commissioning and maintenance may present a hazardous voltage unless the equipment is electrically isolated. If there is unlocked access to the rear of the equipment, care should be taken by all personnel to avoid electrical shock or energy hazards. Voltage and current connections should be made using insulated crimp terminations to ensure that terminal block insulation requirements are maintained for safety. To ensure that wires are correctly terminated the correct crimp terminal and tool for the wire size should be used. Before energising the equipment it must be earthed using the protective earth terminal, or the appropriate termination of the supply plug in the case of plug connected equipment. Omitting or disconnecting the equipment earth may cause a safety hazard. The recommended minimum earth wire size is 2.5mm2, unless otherwise stated in the technical data section of the product documentation. Before energising the equipment, the following should be checked:

. Voltage rating and polarity;

. CT circuit rating and integrity of connections;

Integrity of earth connection (where applicable)

Equipment operating conditions The equipment should be operated within the specified electrical and environmental limits.

Current transformer circuits Do not open the secondary circuit of a live CT since the high level voltage produced may be lethal to personnel and could damage insulation.

Where external resistors are fitted to RTU, these may present a risk of electric shock or burns, if touched. Insulation and dielectric strength testing Insulation testing may leave capacitors charged up to a hazardous voltage. At the end of each part of the test, the voltage should be gradually reduced to zero, to discharge capacitors, before the test leads are disconnected. Insertion of modules and boards These must not be inserted into or withdrawn from equipment whist it is energised since this may result in damage. Fibre optic communication Where fibre optic communication devices are fitted, these should not be viewed directly. Optical power meters should be used to determine the operation or signal level of the device.

3. DECOMMISSIONING AND DISPOSAL Decommissioning: The auxiliary supply circuit in the RTU may include capacitors across the supply or to earth. To avoid electric shock or energy hazards, after completely isolating the supplies to the RTU (both poles of any dc supply), the capacitors should be safely discharged via the external terminals prior to decommissioning. Disposal: It is recommended that incineration and disposal to watercourses be avoided. The product should be disposed of in a safe manner. Any products containing batteries should have them removed before disposal, in order to avoid short circuits. Particular regulations within the country of operation may apply to the disposal of lithium batteries.

5. HANDLING OF ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENTS

A person's normal movements can easily generate electrostatic potentials of several thousand volts. Discharge of these voltages into semiconductor devices when handling circuits can cause serious damage, which often may not be immediately apparent but the reliability of the circuit will have been reduced. The electronic circuits of GDEPRI Power Automation & Protection products are immune to the relevant levels of electrostatic discharge when housed in their cases. Do not expose them to the risk of damage by withdrawing modules unnecessarily. Each module incorporates the highest practicable protection for its semiconductor devices. However, if it becomes necessary to withdraw a module, the following precautions should be taken in order to preserve the high reliability and long life for which the equipment has been designed and manufactured. 1. Before removing a module, ensure that you are a same electrostatic potential as the equipment by touching the case. 2. Handle the module by its front-plate, frame, or edges of the printed circuit board. Avoid touching the electronic components, printed circuit track or connectors. 3. Do not pass the module to any person without first ensuring that you are both at the same electrostatic potential. Shaking hands achieves equipotential. 4. Place the module on an antistatic surface, or on a conducting surface, which is at the same potential as you. 5. Store or transport the module in a conductive bag. More information on safe working procedures for all electronic equipment can be found in IEC 60147-0F and BS5783. If you are making measurements on the internal electronic circuitry of any equipment in service, it is preferable that you are earthen to the case with a conductive wrist strap.

Wrist straps should have a resistance to ground between 500k C 10M

Ohms. If a wrist strap is not available you should maintain regular contact with the case to prevent the build up of static. Instrumentation which may be used for making measurements should be earthen to the case whenever possible. GDEPRI Power Automation & Protection strongly recommends that detailed investigations on the electronic circuitry, or modification work, should be

carried out

in a Special Handling Area such as described in IEC 60147-0F or BS5783.

6. PACKING AND UNPACKING All GD-60 RTU modules are packaged separately in their own cartons or GD-60 RTU cabinet are packaged in wood trunk.. Use special care when opening the cartons or wood trunk and unpacking the device, and do not use force. In addition, make sure to remove from the inside carton the supporting documents supplied with each individual device and the type identification label. The design revision level of each module included with the device in its as-delivered condition can be determined from the list of components. This list should be carefully saved. After unpacking the device, inspect it visually to make sure it is in proper mechanical condition. If the GD-60 needs to be shipped, both inner and outer packaging must be used. If the original packaging is no longer available, make sure that packaging conforms to ISO 2248 specifications for a drop

2.Cabinet and installation 2.1. General Structure of Cabinet

The GD60 MVRTU cabinets are to be installed indoors or outdoors and arranged for i wall-mounting as specified. The cabinets are made from fabricated mild steel 2mm thick.. The Floor standing type cabinets are optional as specified. Cabinets are dust-proof and vermin-proof. Four Louvres are provided at the both side of the cabinets to provide adequate ventilation. Floor standing type cabinets have rear double door openings, hinged to lie back flat to avoid restricted areas. Hinges are of the lift-off type. Doors are secured by integral handles provided with either barrel locks, or provision made for padlocking. Where cubicles are specified for wall mounting or for the rear of the cubicle against a wall, the front are provided with lockable front door with non-lift-off hinges and have a transparent plastic to view secondary front door. the secondary front panel door are provided with lockable with non-lift- hinges. Equipment mounted on the secondary front panel door are connected to the fixed portion by flexible wiring runs in non-rustable flexible conduits. Stays are provided on the door to ensure the connection to the fixed portion is below its flexibility limit but not more than 140 degree swing is permitted.

As shown in figure 5, connect terminal end of cable (3 lines, provided) to AC input of module, and

power end of cable to power input.

l DC OUTPUT

Link cable ( 6 lines, provided) could be prolonged through 6mm2 cable. And the extension end is

connected to use load end (BROWN+,BLUE-), and the other end is connected to DC output refer to

figure 5.

l INPUT TO BATTERY

link cable(4 lines,provided) could be prolonged through 6mm2 cable. and the extension end is

connected to battery bank terminal(brown+,blue-),and the other end is connected to module’s battery

bank contact refer to figure 5.

l ALARM CONTACTS

Refer to figure 5,using #24 awg to extend pin 1、3、5 of the 9 pin plug(provided),alarm contact

of 9 pin plug is connected to alarm contact of module,and extension is connected to a monitoring

device.

8.6.2 INITIATION

Verify that wiring is correct,switch on power,“power supply”led、“running” led、“balance

charging” led is on。in 5 seconds,“balance charging” led、“ac over-voltage” led and “ac

under-voltage” led will be off,and power supply will provide output to complete starting procedure

automatically,and system is in balance charging mode.

8.6.3 SETTING

l ON/OFF CONTROL

Pressing “power switch” to turn on/off the module。 if ac power is cut off and then ac power is on,

the device will auto-start to go into running mode.

l SET OUTPUT VOLTAGE

27 v dc is default factory value for gep-24002la。to raise voltage,

you may use a flat screw driver to slowly rotate voltage ajustment knob clockwise.

8.6.4 BATTERY BANK MAINTENANCE

verify that wiring of both rectifing module and batteries is correct before switch on the power to put

battery bank into system。 rectifing module can choose working mode by judging current state of

battery bank。the module will automatically choose floating-charging mode if battery bank terminal

voltage is over-voltage。 the module will automatically choose balance-charging mode if battery

bank terminal voltage is under-voltage。10a is default factory battery charging current for

gep-24020la.

8.7 CAUTION l verify that ac input voltage ranges between 160~265 v ac to avoied pamanent damage to device.

l verify that the device is grounded to avoid electric shock causing personnel injury or death.

l rectifing module’s output and battery input are independent to each other. wrong wiring will

cause batteries over-charged,over-discharging or damage to device.

l keep rectifing module ventilated to avoid overheating causing permanent damage to device.

l it is recommended that device’s output voltage is set between 26.8~27.5v dc for effective

maintenance to battery bank.

l gep-24020la rectifing module outputs a max. current of 21.5 a. normal woring current is load

current plus battery charging current.10 a is factroy default charging current for battery bank.

3. Battery Charger Test(One of FAT Test Items 10% sampling test for production of each project) 3.1 Input Output and alarming test l AC220V power supply are connected to the terminal: X0-1 and X0-3 via a single phase

voltage regulator. A volt meter are connected for output voltage monitoring. l close MCB1 l Tuning the regulator output from AC165V to 265V, the charger DC output should be DC
