Music byDon Burrows
Don Burrows was a major Australian jazz musician, composer and
performer, and perhaps his best known group is the Don Burrows
Quartet. He has a wiki here.
(Below: Don Burrows)
Burrows' work for the film soundtrack was released on LP, and is
still regularly sought after by jazz enthusiasts:

One of Burrows' most regular partners was guitarist George
Grolla, above on the left, and below with Starline guitar:
The LP was welcomed prior to its release, one of the few aspects
of the film to be well received by the critics, as in this advance
notice in the Melbourne Age on 9th January 1969:

2000 Weeks - Opening titles (D. Burrows) also appeared as track
2 on a CD in an ABC collection:

VOLUME TWO
This was part of an ABC Music/Polygram 5 disc CD edition
released in 1993, which is now extremely rare.
The solo single 2000 Weeks by Twilights guitarist and
singer-songwriter Terry Britten was released around the time the
film came out, but it has no direct connection with the film.
Britten did several songs named after the film projects that
inspired him. (Cathy Come Home, Age of Consent). Britten has a wiki
here.
Unfortunately both the 45 and the sheet music used the spelling
2,000 Weeks:

Finally others also recorded the title track, including James
