The Art of Connection

Leading people into the wilds of their inner landscape is no easy task. It requires us, as guides, to first be deeply connected to our own journey and process. We can then uphold healthy boundaries, stay authentic, and create a safe and sacred space for students to thrive. It is from this place of inner connection that we can radiate out and connect with others. This module shines the light inward to help you radiate more clearly from your center.

When centered in ourselves, we can align with the highest good for all beings. Participants in this module will:

• Gain confidence in the seat of the teacher. • Discover the many group dynamics that arise in a class setting. • Root into the truth of your being and share authentically • Release unhealthy tendencies that keep you and your students stuck.

• Create a foundation for personal evolution

Anatomy & Physiology

This comprehensive training includes the nuts and bolts of the human body’s anatomical breakdown. Learn anatomy from the inside-out. This inclusive module expertly guides you into your living tissues in a concrete and inspiring way. To be a skilled movement teacher, it is imperative to have an integrated understanding of how that body is designed to move.

Make anatomy relevant to you, and your students will follow!

What you learn:

• Embody anatomy, learn and use the clinical language of anatomy in a completely accessible and fun way.

• Directly experience the interplay of the many systems of the body, learn to make their complexity relatable and tangible for your students.

• Explore specific anatomical structures, physiological processes, and typical movement patterns and pathologies. Then find out how the multiple layers of the body relate and function as a whole.

• Dynamic movement, combined with video, 3-D models, palpation, and self-massage techniques, invite you to traverse the muscles, joints, bones and fascia and their interrelatedness to breath, circulation, immunity, injury and newfound functional movement patterns.

The Art of Seeing Clearly

Our posture follows us around like a shadow, revealing the way we move (or don’t move). Learning to decode your student's posture will exponentially help you to help them bring more awareness to their practice both on and off the mat.

This module helps you expand your ability to see your student’s bodies through the lenses of anatomy and biomechanics while honing your intuition and understanding. See your students with a level of depth that allows you to create sequences, cues, and alignment offerings that honor the individual and the group.

Participants in this module will:

• Learn why traditional yoga poses don’t fit everybody and how to check your students

• Range of Motion before introducing certain poses.

• Experience a “learn by doing” approach so you can work with your new skills right away.

• Teach you how to conduct successful private sessions with the ability to zero in on the student’s individual needs

• Learn your own body blind spots, and what your posture reveals about you. • Recognize how to provide demos and connect with visual learners successfully.

The Art of Communication

The second most common way of learning is auditory. What you say and how you say it will significantly effect how your students experience your teachings. Cueing is not a cookie-cutter practice, but an art form created with the context of your lessons, the knowledge of your practice and the students in front of you in mind. This module teaches you how to create meaningful and concise cues that are relevant to the moment, the theme of your class and your students. You will develop dexterity in your ability to speak with confidence and connection.

Participants in this module will:

• Develop your unique voice and learn how to share it. • Find out what your speech is revealing about you and polish your cuing so your

students understand you quickly. • Find out how to be fed instead of depleted by your teaching. • Explore the craft of sharing compelling themes that bring depth to your classes. • Learn to listen to yourself, your students and the silence between your cues with

ease.

The Roll Model Method: The Science of Rolling

Roll Model® Therapy Balls are a soft-tissue conditioning tool used as an adjunct offering within personal training, stretch, Pilates, wellness coaching, yoga, massage therapy, clinical or mental health settings, children or special populations. These on–the–go balls improve body coordination, reduce pain and enhance movement. They can be used in a variety of settings; office, home, gym, clinic and yoga/Pilates studios.

Amplify your personal embodiment and learn applicable fascia science, bony landmarks, myofascial junctions, and pain physiology. Master specialized ball rolling techniques that penetrate into common high-tension areas. You will learn 6 head-to-toe series proven to affect profound change in the rotator cuff, upper back, neck, jaw, hips, lower back, IT Band, calves, and feet.

The Roll Model Method: Ball Sequencing & Innovation

Provide a wide variety of soft-tissue self-care solutions for every client and condition while utilizing the four different sized Roll Model® Therapy Balls. Learn to effortlessly craft innovative moves and sequences to differentiate your teaching for any individual or community. Applicable to personal training, corporate wellness, Pilates, dance, clinics, mental health, yoga, massage therapy, or with kids and special needs populations.

• Explore self-myofascial release in areas of your body frequently over-used, like the hands and knees, or completely ignored like the diaphragm and pelvic floor.

• Improve classroom demonstration of Therapy Ball techniques and troubleshoot classroom pitfalls and challenges when presenting to beginners or more experienced students.

• Learn the art of crafting test/retest scenarios to provide instant feedback on improved function or reduced pain.

• Refine your anatomical fluency of bony landmarks, muscular attachments, and the fascial seam-system through experiential mapping strategies.

The Art of Assisting

Touch is a powerful and intimate thing. When done right, it can help a student peel back a new layer, find correct alignment, and deepen their practice. When leading students to precise locations within their body, a teacher must know how you use clear verbal cueing coupled with visual demos that illustrate what you’re asking of the student.

In this module, you will learn to relay an assured touch with calmness & compassion. As the teacher, you will gain tools on how to verbally cue as you assist, offer healing touch, and gracefully handle students who don’t wish to be touched. You will become more familiar with the purpose of touch and learn why many classical assists aren’t helpful to your students and maybe putting them at risk.

Participants in this module will:

• Discover the science behind therapeutic touch • Help your students feel, connect, and heal • Gain communication tools that help you and your student foster an interaction of

safety • Learn to stay present in a “help me to help you” approach • Learn the biomechanics for keeping your body safe while teaching, assisting, and

demonstrating.

The Art of Teaching & Student Lead 101 Class + Feedback

Teachers in training will have 6 opportunities to teach workshops titled, Evolve Yoga Introduction Series: Yoga 101, offered to the public. Provided with a progressive 6 session workshop series that includes class templates, trainees will graduate with a ready-to-teach workshop to draw upon as they embark on their teaching journey. Trainees co-teach these workshops, rotating between teaching class, assisting and adjusting under lead teachers supervision. These workshops are videotaped for review as a significant teaching tool. This hands-on experience leads to informative feedback for trainees as they develop their teaching style and skills, regardless of their teaching experience.

The Art of Sequencing

Great sequencing is born of an understanding of the way our body moves and how to proficiently share this knowledge. For a new teacher, it can be intimidating to rely on your own inner knowledge and creativity while conducting a class.

In this module, you’ll learn to find your own way, teach what interests you, and create sequences that are uniquely yours. Your sequencing will communicate your knowledge of the body, the expression of your unique voice, and the experience of your personal practice.

Participants in this module will:

• Develop a personal practice to nurture and grow • Use your observational skills from the previous modules to determine ROM and

whether poses are accessible to your students • Discover how to workshop poses and break down movements, so each student

feels successful in their practice • Walk away with innovative sequencing tools to teach private sessions,

workshops, and group classes • Learn how to cook up fresh sequences that keep you and your students inspired

to practice

The Business of Yoga

This interactive course is specifically designed to support participants with the necessary know-how and skills to continue the transformation that participants started in the Teacher Training, both in teaching and in life. Participants will be equipped with practical skills to integrate into their real lives the insights they have gained, the epiphanies they have had, the skills they have developed and the transformations they

have gone through in the teacher training. Participants will create their own bio, create class descriptions, workshop titles and learn how to organize themselves to start teaching. Participants will also learn how to deal with finances and how to create teaching opportunities for themselves.

Advanced Asana Sequencing Skills

This module fosters critical thinking skills when practicing, teaching, and modifying advanced postures. Participants will learn how to assess and address issues surrounding more challenging classes and sequencing. “Just because you can doesn’t mean you should” is the lens we’ll use to look at the yoga worlds current obsession with going deeper and further as they push their edges physically, mentally, emotionally, and energetically.

Finals Prep

Our final few sessions will be used to practice teaching while preparing for success in the final practicum, and participants will receive guidelines for creating their final project along with writing projects to be turned in with their final practicum.

Final Practicum

A culmination of this journey, teachers in training, will present their final projects and receive final feedback from the lead teacher and teaching assistants as well as written feedback from their peers.

Additional Homework Hours Required 20 Hours

Participants will be required to document their personal journey by keeping a written account of the training. Participants will be asked to write out master class sequences, record cues, quotes and teaching points to create a future reference to reflect upon the completion of the course. Participants will be asked to complete reading assignments of the required texts, listening to the required audio recordings, and watching the required videos.

A final 5 sequences illustrating teachers knowledge of creating classes will be due before course completion along with participants’ final bio and class description.

Refund Policy

A participant has the right to cancel the Enrollment Agreement and obtain a refund of one hundred percent (100%) of the amount paid for institutional charges (depending on date of cancelation), less the application fee of $75, upon submitting written notice to Spirit Path by the close of business on the first day of a student's scheduled unattendance. The written notice of cancellation need not take any particular form and, however expressed, is effective if it shows that the participant no longer wishes to be bound by the Enrollment Agreement.

Student’s Right to Cancel

A participant has the right to cancel the Payment Agreement and obtain a refund or withdraw from a course after instruction has started and receive a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the tuition and other refundable charges. A participant who withdraws or is dismissed after attending at least one class, but before completing 50% of the instruction in the current enrollment period, is entitled to a pro-rata refund. Students will receive a refund within 30 days of the termination date as follows:

a) Prior to completion of the first day of class, but before the second day of class, 100% refund will be given

b) After completion of the first day of class but prior to the completion of 10% of the program, the refund will be 90% of tuition after deducting the registration fee.

'good faith' effort to make a refund, if necessary, by sending certified mail to student's and parent's permanent address.

If the school cancels or discontinues a course or educational program, the school will make a full refund of all charges. Refunds will be paid within 30 day of cancellation.

Instructor Cancellation

The Yoga Alliance requires that students are present for at least 180 contact hours. Of those contact hours, the Yoga Alliance requires that at least 65 of the 180 contact hours are with the lead instructor who has received the credentialing from the Yoga Alliance to instruct a Yoga Alliance credentialed Yoga Teacher Training School Program. Alaska Commission on Post-secondary Education (ACPE) requires a full 200 contact hours. The lead instructor, Kim Greeff, is scheduled to be present for all of the 203 contact hours, but in case of illness, injury, death in the family or other unforeseeable special circumstances, a co-instructor that meets the Yoga Alliance requirements will be requested to stand in as a substitute for Kim. Cassandra Lidin, 200 RYT, has agreed to substitute in Kim’s place if she is unable to teach. Cassandra meets the requirements established by the Yoga Alliance for an assistant instructor. If the lead instructor, Kim Greeff, is absent due to unforeseeable special circumstance for more than 65 hours the course will be cancelled.

Grievance Policy

If a student has an academic complaint, the student is first encouraged to discuss any concerns with the instructor. If not satisfied with the outcome of these discussions, the student may then speak with the Center Director. If not satisfied with the outcome, the student may seek appeal through the State of Alaska Commission on Post-secondary Education.
