We believe in one God,

the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,

the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. Parishioners will gather following the service and have lunch at Old Bag of Nails, 63 Mill Street Gahanna, OH 43230 and then travel to Lynds located at 9090 Morse Road SW, Pataskala, Ohio 43062. Got a great soup or stew recipe? Come test its mettle against your fellow parishioners! Join us following the 10:30 service for Trinity's Third Annual Soup and Stew Cook-off. Bring a slow cooker full of your best soup or stew and see how it measures up. Tickets for the tasting and judging are $5, the proceeds of which go to support future Parish Life endeavors. Each autumn, we have the opportunity to share God's gift of the harvest, as we enjoy apples, pumpkins, and fall colors. St. Nicholas was the Bishop of Myra, in modern-day Turkey; he is best known for his generous gifts to the poor and oppressed. Church school children will fill treat bags to share with the congregation in Nicholas's honor - come share in Nicholas's love of neighbor as Trinity observes his Feast Day.

Everybody loves Christmas cookies! Please share your favorite recipe for a Cookie Exchange just in time for Christmas. Bring along four dozen of your best cookies to trade with other cookie-lovers following the 10:30 service. To share in the cookie spirit, church school children will be decorating cookies to share with the congregation at Coffee Hour.

THE ALTAR GUILD MINISTRY TEAM prepares the altar for Holy Eucharist and maintains the altar and linens. We are inviting anyone that is interested to talk with our team TODAY, at the South East Corner of the Church at 9:45 AM. Our group is eager to organize a flexible, monthly plan that will be functional and amenable.

IN THE GARDEN GROWS "ORIENTATION TO LEADERSHIP"

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 28, 9:15 a.m. After more than 5 years, IN THE GARDEN, the weekly worship and dinner has grown into a popular and respected part of the programs for the downtown Columbus homeless and minimally-housed individuals. We now serve an average of 120 persons each Sunday afternoon with a delicious, hot home-cooked meal, programs, and worship. Many in the community (led by Sister and Dave with a host of volunteers from the ITG community) have begun to take responsibility for the set-up and clean-up each Sunday, as well as parts of the worship (led by Deacon Deniray Mueller) and organization. We have been blessed by participation from All Saints in New Albany, St. John's of Worthington, and St. Philip Episcopal churches, as well the Church of the Solid Faith.

IN THE GARDEN has indeed become a thriving community where not only food and worship are shared, but prayers, concerns, successes, and friendships, and certainly ITG has become a reciprocal ministry to those of us who are closely involved. Because ITG is such a large part of the outreach ministry of Trinity Church, and because some have expressed an interest in volunteering, we will hold an "Orientation to Leadership for In The Garden" on Sunday morning, Oct, 28 at 9:15 am in the Undercroft. During this hour we will explain how ITG works, what volunteering involves, and answer questions. Please plan to join us to learn more about this large and multi-faceted ministry of Trinity Church and how YOU can be a part of it!

BREAD (Building Respect, Equality and Dignity) enters its 16th year of faith-based community organizing in Columbus this fall. Over the years, critical social issues like pay-day lending, public school reform, neighborhood safety and restoration, and increased opportunities for small-business development have been urged by the 50-plus interfaith congregations who hold public officials accountable each year. Trinity stands with this group in offering participation and expert leadership from several lay people.

Now, we invite you to think with other Trinity people about the critical social issue that BREAD can address in 2013. Come to the Parish Library on Monday, October 22 and share your passion for justice! (See Jim Zafris, Peggy Malone, or the Rector for details.)
