4 Safety Precaution(This “Safety Precaution” is applied only in U.S.A.)
1.Before servicing, unplug thè power cord to prevent an electric shock.2.When replacing parts, use only manufacturer’s recommended components for safety.3.Check thè condition of thè power cord. Replace if wear or damage is evident.4.After servicing, be sure to restore thè lead dress, insulation barriers, insulation papers, shields, etc.5.Before returning thè serviced equipment to thè customer, be sure to make thè following insulation resistance test to prevent thè
customer from being exposed to a shock hazard.Insulation Resistance Test1.Unplug thè power cord and short thè two prongs of thè plug with a jumper wire.2.Turn on thè power switch.3.Measure thè resistance value with ohmmeter between thè jumper AC plug and each exposed metal cabinet part, such as screw
heads, control shafts, handle brackets, etc. Equipment with antenna terminals should read between 3M£2 and 5.2M& to allexposed parts. (Fig. A) Equipment without antenna terminals should read approximately infinity to all exposed parts. (Fig. B)*Note: Some exposed parts may be isolated from thè chassis by design. These will read infinity.

4. If thè measurement is outside thè specified limits, there is a possibility of a shock hazard. The equipment should be repairedand rechecked before it is returned to thè customer.
5 Caution for AC Mains LeadWARNING: DO NOT CONNECT EITHER WIRE TO THEEARTH TERMINAL WHICH IS MARKED WITH THELETTER E, BY THE EARTH SYMBOL ORCOLOURED GREEN OR GREEN/YELLOW.
(For United Kingdom)(“EB” area code model only)
Foryour safety, please read thè following text carefully.THIS PLUG IS NOT WATERPROOF—KEEP DRY.
This appliance is supplied with a moulded three pinmains plug for your safety and convenience.A 5-ampere fuse is fitted in this plug.Should thè fuse need to be replaced please ensure thatthè replacement fuse has a rating of 5-ampere and that itis approved by ASTA or BSI to BS1362.Check for thè ASTA mark <^> or thè BSI mark ^ on thèbody of thè fuse.
Before useRemove thè connector cover.
How to replace thè fuseThe location of thè fuse differ according to thè type of ACmains plug (figures A and B). Confirm thè AC mains plugfitted and follow thè instructions below.Illustrations may differ from actual AC mains plug.
If thè plug contains a removable fuse cover you mustensure that it is refitted when thè fuse is replaced. If you lose thè fuse cover thè plug must not be used untila replacement cover is obtained.A replacement fuse cover can be purchased from yourlocai dealer.
1. Open thè fuse cover with a screwdriver.
CAUTION!IF THE FITTED MOULDED PLUG IS UNSUITABLEFOR THE SOCKET OUTLET IN YOUR HOME THENTHE FUSE SHOULD BE REMOVED AND THE PLUGCUT OFF AND DISPOSED OF SAFELY.THERE IS A DANGER OF SEVERE ELECTRICALSHOCK IF THE CUT OFF PLUG IS INSERTED INTOANY 13-AMPERE SOCKET.
If a new plug is to be fitted please observe thè wiringcode as shown below. If in any doubt please consult a qualified electrician.IMPORTANTThe wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordancewith thè following code:Blue: Neutral, Brown: Live.As these colours may not correspond with thè colouredmarkings identifying thè terminals in your plug, proceedas follows:The wire which is coloured Blue must be connected tothè terminal which is marked with thè letter N or colouredBlack or Blue. The wire which is coloured Brown must be connected tothè terminal which is marked with thè letter L or colouredBrown or Red.
2. Replace thè fuse and dose or attach thè fuse cover.
6 Operation Checks and Component ReplacementProcedures
•This section describes procedures for checking thèoperation of thè major printed Circuit boards and replacingthè main components.
•For reassembly after operation checks or replacement, reverse thè respective procedures. Special reassemblyprocedures are described only when required.

A Be careful of destruction by thè static electricity
•This LED may be destroyed or worsened by thè staticelectricity charged in clothes and human bodies. Whenhandling and repairing thè LED, be especially careful ofsuch destruction. Be sure to take necessary measures suchas wearing a wrist strap.
Grounding for electrostatic breakdown prevention1.Human body grounding
•Use thè anti-static wrist strap to discharge thè staticelectricity from your body.(Fig. 12-1)
2. Work table grounding
•Put a conductive material (sheet) or steel sheet on thèarea where thè traverse deck (optical pick-up) is placed, and ground thè sheet.(Fig. 12-2)
