As the 5th larger wine producing country in the world, Argentina has become synonymous of top quality wine. Malbec is king, but there’s a lot more to discover from what might be the most exciting wine producing country, with the ‘terroir expression’ as the main focus nowadays.
Lesser known than its neighbors, Uruguay has been producing wine since couple of centuries already, with great aging potential. Tannat, as its flagship grape produces intense and powerful red wines, while coastal regions are showing full potential for white varietals.
Great value for money wines made of Cabernet Sauvignon and their iconic Carmenere, both from warm areas, put Chile on the map of wine production and specially exports. Keep an eye in Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Syrah from cooler climates, they can be comparable with some of the best wines in the world.
Famous for Football, Caipirinhas and Carnival, Brazil should be also related to fine wine production. Sparkling wines made with the traditional method are among the best in South America. For red and white wines, European varietals found a new home with excellent examples.
