2013 American action film directed by Icelandic director Baltasar Kormákur

A DEA agent and a naval intelligence officer find themselves on the run after a botched attempt to

infiltrate a drug cartel. While fleeing, they learn the secret of their shaky alliance: Neither knew that the

other was an undercover agent.

The movie begins with a low angled shot, with a train coming towards the camera. It instantly brings out a climax as the train is moving fast, along with the sound which is really loud. Straight after that the audience views a car through a long shot which is stereotyped to be placed in a crime film, with the car the 2 main characters are shown whom are 2 male characters. At the same time music kicks in which shows a sense that they’re two ‘cool’ characters which are being shown. Not much dialogue is spoken in the opening as they barely speak however there are few lines which are said but are irrelevant to the movie, or are said only for comical reasons. Also within the opening the audience sees police officers, a cafe and a bank, which instantly says to the audience there will be money and action involved in this movie. The title of the movie appears after the film opening has ended, with the sound of a gunshot. It appears big and bold, straight after the explosion with the low angled long shot of the two characters entering their car. Again it substantially emphasises to the viewer that the movie is filled with action and criminal acts.
