Happy Reading!!!
3rd Grade Book Club started today, and the students are very excited to read Tornado by Betsy Byars. They are meeting in the library during their lunch to read and discuss the book.
Thank you all for supporting the library's magazine subscription fund-raiser. It was very successful this year, and so far the library received $1,100! The students and some teachers loved collecting and trading the frogs.
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming March 5-9. Look for a flyer in your child's folder today. The One For Books program will also begin next week. Scholastic matches our donations and sends up to $1,000,000 in books to three non-profit groups for children and families in need. They include Ma-rine Toys for Tots Foundation, Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc., and Kids in Need Foundation. A flyer in your child's folder explains the program. Donate a dollar and fill out the book slip with your child's name and homeroom teacher. The top 3 classes with the most participation will receive classroom books from the fair.
Willy Claflin, author of Rapunzel and the Seven Dwarfs and the 2012 Texas Bluebonnet winner for the Uglified Ducky will be presenting at our school in April. Information about purchasing his autographed books is coming soon. We are very excited and fortunate to have him speak at our school.
