The North Carolina Community Foundation supports

philanthropy through a unique affiliate structure in 65

local communities. Together with our affiliate partners,

we establish and grow endowment funds, conduct

local community grants programs and serve as a phil-

anthropic resource to nonprofit organizations. Volun-

teer advisory boards guide their affiliate foundations

to develop strategies that effect meaningful change

and work toward stronger communities.

Below is a listing of all of our affiliate partners and

a snapshot of their local work. The board lists con-

tained on the following pages capture all individuals

who served during the fiscal year ending March 31,

2009. We extend our deepest gratitude to all of the

volunteers and donors in each of our local affiliates

and welcome our newest fund-holders, noted in bold.

Nath Thompson, former director of Camp Carolina, was honored with a scholarship endow-ment in his name when he retired. The scholar-ship sends disadvantaged boys to the camp near Brevard, famous for its rich outdoor experiences.
