ASSISTIVE TEXT AND PRODUCT LABEL READING FOR BLIND PERSONS USING MATLAB
THROUGH PORTABLE CAMERA
Under the Guidance ofN.RAMANJANEYULUAssoc. Professor, ECE
Introduction Existing methods Proposed method Working Implementation Tools Advantages conclusion
CONTENTS
A camera based assistive text reading framework is proposed to help blind persons to read text labels from handheld objects in their daily lives.
It is an efficient and effective motion based method to define a Region of Interest.
Through this technique we provide extracting and reading text from different objects with complex backgrounds.

audio output.
Working
Operation Cycle
Localizing the image region of the hand-held object of interest
Implememtation Tools
In other applications
Examples of blind persons capturing images of the object in their hands
Advantages It is a portable device. The text with complex backgrounds can be
recognize and extract. It will enhance independent living and social
self-sufficiency for blind people.
The proposed system is used to read printed text on handheld objects for assisting blind persons.
OCR is used to perform word recognition on the localized text regions and transform into audio output for blind users.
