WORKSHOP - QUALITY EDUCATION INDIA

To train the teachers for writing a Lesson planning To understand the usefulness of an effective lesson planning To cover all aspects of teaching in a class of 35 minutes To include activities, recapitulation and assessment in the lesson plan

Participants: All Teachers except Activity teachers Highlights:

All the teachers participated in the workshop. Each teacher was involved in all the activities conducted by the presenter. The presentation started with the ball game which she threw to different teachers and took

the feedback of the earlier sessions held. The involvement of the teachers showcased their enthusiasm. Ms. Roopam Shah then explained about the steps to make the lesson plans. She explained that it is important to start the lesson plan with the process of testing the

previous knowledge of the students. The subject specific groups were created and they were asked to develop activities for PKA. Leaders, speakers and time keepers were made by the group after discussion. This was followed by the presentation of the previous knowledge questions written by the

teachers on various topics chosen by them and then analysis of the same was done. After this writing of learning objectives was discussed and a ppt based on it was

simultaneously shown to the teachers. All the key aspects of an impactful Lesson plan were discussed. Teachers then presented the lesson plans they had prepared The session ended by handing over the booklets of lesson planning to all. The assignment of the Lesson Planning session is to be submitted by 30th November.

Outcome:

The teachers were engaged enthusiastically in the activities showcasing their creativity, critical and analytical thinking

making their classroom teaching an enjoyable experience for their students.

The workshop began by invoking the blessings of the Lord Almighty with the words from the Holy Bible. The following points were covered in the workshop -

The meaning of class room management and it’s technique was explained with the help of a PPT. The strategy to improve class room management was discussed through an interactive session. The following points were considered to be important for the proper management of a class –

a. Focus b. Class control c. Nonverbal communication d. Breaking the monotony

e. Reward and Reinforcement of teamwork

To demonstrate the correct way to begin the class on a positive note, the teachers stood up and sang the song “If you are happy”. A big picture was displayed and the teachers were asked to name the nouns seen in the picture. Through this activity the topic of ‘Nouns’ was explained.

The teachers demonstrated the way to make the lessons interesting and useful for the students by taking up activity based teaching. The topics that were covered in the workshop for the different wings were as follows:

Primary wing - Nouns and Adjectives Middle wing - Elements of story writing Senior wing - Letter writing

Interesting activities such as writing proper nouns for the given pictures, writing adjectives for yourself on your face mask and spin a yarn were conducted. The proper technique and important elements for story writing and letter writing were discussed in detail. Suggestions were given for many other activities that the teachers can conduct in their classes for different topics.

It was a very interactive and useful session where all the teachers participated in fun filled activities, suggested methods of good classroom management and gained from the inputs given by each other to make their respective classes more lively and well managed.

Topic: Capacity Building Programme on ‘Gender Sensitivity’

Agenda: To discuss ways of fostering gender neutrality. To encourage participation of girls in sports To avoid using gender discriminatory words To create awareness regarding gender sensitivity across all sectors To inculcate usage of gender sensitive language particularly in schools

Participants: 38 Schools from Delhi & NCR participated; Ms. Sonam from ASPAM Scottish School attended the workshop.

Highlights The workshop covered topics like creating awareness of the gender inequality and gender

discrimination at work places. The participants were asked to avoid using gender discriminatory words while writing diary

notes, mail etc. Discussion on making sports activities open to both girls as well as boys in order to foster

gender neutrality. Increase gender awareness at all levels and all sectors as essential to improve gender

sensitivity. It was suggested manage gender sensitivity and use of gender sensitive language in

To sensitize students regarding Good Touch & Bad Touch To equip the students with tips to keep themselves safe

Participants: Students of Nursery & KG along with their grade mentors Highlights

The students were explained how to differentiate and identify “bad touch” or additional “uncomfortable behaviour” from others.

They were also given instructions on how one should react or respond in an uncomfortable situation.

The students were told that if someone touches them in a way that they do not like then they must say NO.

They were also told to get away from that place as fast as they can and try not to be alone with that person in the future.

Also they must immediately call for help to a trustworthy person like their parents or their teacher and tell them everything that happened. They can scream for help if they do not have their elders nearby.

Outcome:

Awareness regarding good touch & bad touch was created among the students.

The students could understand how to react to uncomfortable behaviour of others.

Participants: Students of Grade VII A, B, VIII A. Highlights

Thematic morning assembly started with the bhajan “SADHGURU MAI TERI”

The assembly was conducted by Pranjal Sharma of VIII A.

A beautiful thought related to the theme was presented by Abdur Rehman of Grade VII B.

Students took the pledge with Inder Singh of Grade VIII A.

The students were updated with the News by Mohd Saim and Ayush of Grade VIII A.

A talk was presented by Fatima on the importance of celebration of Guru Nanak Jayanti.

Gurbani was presented by Varnika, Kritika, Gurusha, Anoushka of Grade VII A.

Birthday wishes were showered on those whose birthday fell in that week.

Assembly ended with the National anthem.

Outcome:

Students celebrated this Jayanti with a great zeal to mark the birthday of “GURU NANAK SAHIB”,the

founder of Sikhism.

The students could acknowledge and appreciate the role of the Guru’s teachings in their life.

QUIZ WHIZ – 2019

9th INTER SCHOOL QUIZ COMPETION

Date & Venue: 08.11.2019, Institute of Technology and Science, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad

Conducted by : Institute of Technology and Science, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad Theme & Scope of the Quiz:

Theme of the Quiz was “2019-Year of Destiny” Quiz focused on all the important events that have occurred in the year 2019. It covered all the spheres of life, like Sports, Entertainment, Politics, Science, Literature,

Business, Finance, Technology etc. More than 50% emphasis was on Indian themes, personalities and subjects.

Participants: Teams of 250 schools participated in the event. The ASPAM Scottish Team comprised of the following participants:

1. Shreshtha Sharma (XII- A) 2. Shraddha Maurya (XII- A) 3. Prashant Yadav (XI- A)

Highlights:

Teams from 250 different schools from NCR/Delhi participated in the event. After the registration at 8:40am, the students participated in the preliminary round. The escort teachers were asked to attend a session on “Healthy Life style” in the auditorium

while the preliminary round of the quiz was conducted. Inaugural ceremony started at 10:30am. and lasted for about 3 hours The Chief Guest and the Guest of Honor for the ceremony were Mr. Manoj Tiwari, MP (Lok

Sabha) and Mr. Gulshan Grover, Bollywood Actor respectively. 18 teams were short listed on the basis of their performance in round 1 of Semi- final The winners were declared on their performance and score after the second semi-finals.

This event encouraged the students to be more aware about the happenings in their surroundings.

Valuable life lessons were shared by the guests and other dignitaries who graced the occasion.

All the students participated enthusiastically in the competition.

Some of the students made excellent bags using the waste paper. Participants showed their creativity at their best. The students were judged on the basis of the following parameters- neatness, creativity,

originality and overall impression of the presentation. Two students from each grade were declared as the winners and will be presented with the

congratulatory note and the certificate of appreciation.

Such skills allow students to show their talents in the craft making They could understand the varied aspects of creativity for self -expression.

Highlights:

The assembly was conducted by Ayesha Alam Khan of VI B

The prayer song was sung by the choir of grade VI A, VIII A, VIIIB, IXA & IXB

The students along with Vansh Sharma of grade VI B took the pledge for new India.

Thought of the day was presented by Saksham Narwal of grade VI B.

The students were updated with the news by Harsh Chauhan and Juned Ali of grade VI B.

The students of grades I to IX and teachers along with Mrs. Deepali Bhan took the Preamble

pledge.

Preamble ideals of the constitution were displayed on placards by the students of grade IX A.

The assembly concluded with the national anthem

Highlights:

The demo session was conducted by Ms. Rupam Sah. The session was conducted for the Subject of English. The topic for the session was a poem written by William Shakespeare,' All The World's A

Stage'. The session started with laying of ground rules, topic was introduced with a video

presentation. The session was fully interactive and included many teaching strategies and each strategy

was student centric. The students were active and fully involved during the session. Active learning took place that enabled the students to enhance their observation,

interpersonal and quick recall skills. Participants: All the teachers of English department, Head Senior and Sr. Coordinator Outcome:

The students got to know about William Shakespeare, his life history, works and quotes. They were explained about the poem through videos and group discussions. The students attempted to explain the stanzas of the poem using the cues from the facilitator. The teachers present in the demo got a clear view of presentation of a topic using different

and appropriate activities within the stipulated time.

DAY AND NIGHT CAMP Date & Venue: 21.11.19 & 22.11.19, Blue Camp, Dumdama Lake, Gurgaon

Participants: Students of Grade IV to VIII Highlights:

Students of Grade IV to VIII went for a one day adventure camp to Blue Camp, Dumdama Lake, Gurugram.

The campers departed from school at 9.35 am and reached Blue Camp at 12.45 pm on 21.11.19

The students started from Blue Camp at 10.10 am and reached school at 1.30pm on 22.11.19 The trip provided a great opportunity for the students to gain experience and face challenges

that contribute to their overall personality development. The camp experience provided all the integral building blocks and the ideal environment, a

home away from distractions in the school environment. Children participated with enthusiasm in various adventure activities like –

Zip line, Vertical ladder, Commando bridge, Commando net, Hop scotch, Burma Bridge, Commando Crawl, Wall climbing

Other activities like Tent pitching, Camel ride and Tractor ride were also enjoyed by the

Students. Nutritious, hygienic and fresh cooked food was served during breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Outcome:

The camp aimed to inculcate leadership skills as students learnt to capitalize on each other’s strength for the best outcome.

It increased emotional quotient of the students as they became more self aware and sensitive to their surroundings.

Participants: Students of Grades VI to IX Highlights:

Students performed on the stage house wise. They were judged on the following parameters-costumes, props used, expressions,

choreography and coordination. A group of 6 - 8 students participated from each house. The participants with their excellent expressions and dance moves enthralled the audience. The participants created an exciting atmosphere with their energetic performances. The folk dance forms showcased in the competition were from the states of Punjab, Rajasthan,

Haryana and Assam. All the four houses performed wonderfully with great zeal and enthusiasm. The audience enjoyed every moment of the Programme. The judges complimented on the efforts put in by all the four houses. The competition provided an opportunity for the students to showcase their ability to dance. Bishop house was declared the winner.

Outcome:

Students learnt that folk dance is an indigenous dance form. They realized that in India there are many dance forms and folk dance is a genre that needs

to be explored. It was indeed a spectacular show that was enjoyed by one and all.
