Bishop Greg will be celebrating all Sunday Masses, and looks forward to meeting everyone. On Monday he will be visiting many people, including our parish schools and Vincent Court. On Tuesday morning, before departing for Sawtell, he will be sharing breakfast with the young adults in our parish. The Confirmation ceremony is on Monday the 2nd of July at 6.00pm (please be seated by 5.30pm). All parishioners are most welcome to attend. Please keep all the Confirmation candidates in your prayers. Congratulations to our State School Catechists During this Sunday’s 9.30am Mass in Kempsey, Bishop Greg will present a number of awards to our long serving state school catechists. We greatly appreciate the commitment and wonderful work of all our catechists who witness and share their faith with children in our state schools on a weekly basis. I encourage more parishioners to prayerfully consider being part of this important ministry. Congratulations to: Joy Winterburn, 6+ years of Service, presented with a 5 Year Certificate of Recognition Isabel Browne, 11 years of Service, presented with a 10 Years Certificate of Recognition and Badge Barbara Barbour, 21 years of Service, presented with a 20 Years Certificate of Recognition and Badge Yvonne Reardon, 32 years of Service, presented with a 30 Years Certificate of Recognition, Badge and Papal Blessing Jan Stubbs, 41 years of Service, presented with a 40 Years Certificate of Recognition, Badge and Papal Blessing Among you as one who serves It is a great privilege for me to be installed this weekend as your Parish Priest and to continue serving the wonderful people of the beautiful Macleay Valley. As I placed on my Priestly ordination prayer card in 2011, "I am among you as one who serves” (Luke 22: 27). In the coming years, together let us seek to love God and others, discerning God’s will for us in the circumstances of our lives. Together we will discern God’s will for our parish family. Let us together pray, through the intercession of Mary, for our parish, diocese and broader community, especially the poorest and those most in need. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday This Sunday is Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday, celebrated throughout the Catholic Church in Australia. There are over 120,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholics in Australia and they are an important part of the fabric of church life. The theme this year is, “Because of Her, We Can”. The theme celebrates the important role of mothers, grandmothers, aunties and daughters within Aboriginal and Torres Strait communities, and within our community more generally. It also celebrates the many women continuing to serve Aboriginal and Torres Strait communities, especially those seeking to meet their spiritual and physical needs. Copies of this year’s Pastoral Statement from the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference are available at the church entrances, or can be downloaded from http://www.natsicc.org.au/assets/pastoral_letter.pdf. School Holidays At the end of this week, school holidays commence. We wish all our staff and students a very happy and safe break for the school holidays. Please take care, enjoy and we look forward to seeing you in term 3. May we all continue to experience Jesus’ unconditional love for us and our families. Fr James
