LOVE AT FIRST SIGHTJust several months after forming three very first clubs of American football, Serbia saw its first game.

That's how we've started. And, still, none of us thought we are going to stop loving this sport. On the contrary.

Yes.Tackle football.Without equipment.

March 23, 2003, Kg-Bg

2004.Our very first "real year".

League. Real one.

Of course, without equipment.

Pads? No, we were just lads. And our enthusiasm had not just “continued". It was on the rise.

2005.RECOGNITION BY THE STATESerbian Sports Federation announced that

American Football is legal.Yeah, we knew that. We've just wanted state to

know that, too.

So, we've started with small plans,

but with big heart.

Serbian Cup 2005.Ten teams. One competition.

Divided into three groups, clubs competed for the Cup trophy.

3,000 specators came to final match

And, when we thought that will be record which will hardly be broken, something special happened...

Profesionalism

Vukovi Beograd became first Serbian club of American Football with small, but true, stipendies for coach and best players.

From amaterism, transition to profesionalism came surprisingly fast, but smoothly.

And we were just lads without pads.

Year 2005.

It wasn't long time ago, right?

And then...

... three years after beggining - equipment came.

Not for all clubs. Even not enough for two.

But it was immidiatelly used for - national team.

(Serbs like to be together. When they have common goals.)

Writing new chapter of historyOctober 16, 2005

In a land whose average attendance to soccer matches dropped to 2,200 and to basketball matches, despite country was World Champion, just to 1,600..

.. 5,000 people came to stadium of FC Obilic Belgrade to watch first match of their national team in American football.

Serbia v Slovenia. International friendly.Or it was bigger than that?

Facts before The Game No Serbian player ever competed in pads.

Until that day. No Serbian player ever played together with team-

mates from other clubs. Until that day. No full-stadium capacity for any Serbian sport has

been reached for decade. Until that day. 5,000 people filled terraces of FC Obilic stadium to

watch first match of their national team in American football.

Ahead of time While living in joint state with Montenegro, no national team of Serbia

existed at the moment. Except in American Footbal.

While still having old anthem, of state that didn't exist for 14 years already, Serbian national team of American Football was the very first in the country that sang Serbian Anthem, which became official two years later.

Without equipment, until that day, without media coverage, until that day..

.. national team of Serbia gathered in Belgrade and, in match broadcasted live by Serbian national television, defeated Slovenia 38-0.

Game for the history books.
