PASTOR’S REPORTEvans Christian, Executive Pastor

“and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2:2

By the power of the Holy Spirit my job is to equip, empower, and mobilize church leaders to live, lead, and serve.

By the grace of God I have had the privilege of serving Jesus in full time ministry for 19 years. I was a youth pastor in Maryland for 5 years, youth pastor at KAC for 7 years, associate pastor at KAC for 7 year and on September 1, 2017 I started as executive pastor at KAC.

Looking back at 2017

18-29 –Around four years ago I was talking to Stacy Soto in the lobby after a service. She asked how she could help me. So I asked her if she would be interested in leading the young adults group. She prayed about it, asked her husband, called me almost the next day and said they would do it. I am super thankful for Gerry and Stacy Soto. They have been faithful in discipling young adults for the past four years. They have brought the group twice to Jordan, on a short term mission’s trip. They have been instrumental in helping Will Marcy with the Shelter-less ministry. In August this past year Gerry and Stacy took a break. A few of the young adults are leading the young adult bible study on Tuesday nights. I am super thankful for this group that has stepped up to lead. Gerry is going to start a young adult Sunday school class in March.

Shelter-less Ministry: We have the privilege to minister to the shelter-less community in the city of Buffalo; everything from food to clothes, to sleeping bags, to winter coats and working with local shelters. Will Marcy is

Soup Café: We provide home cooked food and meals for those in need. We partner with other ministries including Urban Christian Ministries and Buffalo Dream Center.

Men’s ministry – the men’s ministry has 7 bible studies though out the week, over 100 guys are studying God word each week. A number of guys are meeting in groups of three for accountability. Guys are meeting one on one for intentional discipleship. Men of KAC were involved in two chapters of “FIGHT CLUB” – A ministry that focuses on high level of accountability, intentionality and discipline. The “oil changing Ministry” happens twice a year; this is where men of the church are able to bless a few ladies in our faith family. We averaged about 70 guys during monthly meals. Four times a year we are having “game nights”. We have seen 13 year olds playing board games with 60 year old guys. We have the older guys getting to know younger guys. We have two retreats a year and a golf outreach with Cornerstone church (WWRBC).

KAC Safety Team – The KAC Safety team has a several training events scheduled throughout the year. They are eyes and ears during all four services. They have been busy serving this past year.

Sunday Morning Prayer: The Deacons are starting a Sunday Morning Prayer open to the entire church. It is in room 103 from 8am to 8:30. Purpose is to pray for all of our services.

Looking ahead in 2018Victoria Spencer has been hired as my Administrative Assistant. She started January 8, 2018. She will be helping with communication with small group, men’s ministry, compassion ministry, young adults, website and out data base.

Men’s Ministry: Launching in January: 33 The Series Overview: Volume 1 – A Man and His Design (6 Sessions) Introduces God’s clear design for Authentic Manhood. Each man will discover a Biblical definition of manhood, learn the four “faces” of manhood and also learn how to anticipate and transition through the specific seasons of life.

Divorce Care: Launching in February: A small group study for people that are separating and divorced.

Art of Marriage: Launching in April: a small group study for couples to learn together and encourage one another to achieve God’s design for their Marriage.

LEAD PASTORCharles Jones

Before this year, I would have told you that 2009 was the hardest year in my 12 years here at Kenmore Alliance. That year one our associate pastors was asked to resign and it was tough for the staff and myself to adjust to the idea of having differing ministry philosophies with this individual that could not be resolved. And to be honest I don’t know what hurt the most, that he was my friend or that issues could not be resolved. I ask that because although this years circumstances in 2017 could not be further apart in comparison, much of the hurt is the same; my friend Jon Schuerholz is not here anymore and the issues that arose in August could not be fixed.

The year started off as usual. Busy as ever. Many ministries kicking off and the staff firing on all pistons. For me personally, it was the year of my Ordination requirements. I was coming off of finally graduating and receiving my degree in the fall of 2016, so I could now concentrate on completing my ordination requirements. Worship Ministry was doing very well, kicking off leading worship for a huge Youth Event in February and that being the first event that one of our newest members (although she was really a returning member from 7 years ago) Katie Bergsten, joined us. It was great to have her back; a former Worship Leader here at KAC who we sent off as the Worship Leader of our church plant Grace Point Alliance years before. She and her family were now back for over a year and in 2017 began serving on the worship team again.

As Winter moved to Spring, we hosted one of the largest 1000+ person weekends ever on Easter Weekend. Without sounding too casual, Pastor Jon and I could run a weekend service “with our eyes closed”. We have planned, prepared and served 4-service weekends together for over 11+ years now and you cannot put a price tag on the trust and skill and effectiveness of that type of relationship. Spring moved into summer and I was busy as ever writing papers and reading books again, but this time for the District to complete my ordination. Pastor Jon and I had a few conversations regarding getting ordained, preaching more and counseling more. This would mean eventually training a worship leader replacement and off-loading logo and web design in order to move into more of an associate pastor model. With this desire, in July I re-modeled my office, moved AV Tech Joe Bunce to another office, cleared my personal life schedule, and prepared emotionally and spiritually for a more involved ministry here at KAC for the fall. Little did I know what was coming and that these plans were needed more urgently than ever.

While teaching Bible at VBS in the last week of July, Pastor Jon was faced with a family emergency and took an immediate leave of absence for the month of August. This now became the hardest month for KAC that any of us had ever known. During this month Pastor Evans and myself began crisis planning for the church ministries and he and I prayerfully delegated our weekly tasks in order to fulfill Jon’s roles of preaching and leadership. Evans took on the leadership roles, and I took on the preaching role. We desperately sought after God for wisdom and direction and unity, and He was speaking clearly to us. Furthermore, as God was leading Evans and I, it was becoming more clear to Pastor Jon and the Elders that he was not going to be able to continue serving as senior pastor here at KAC. At the Elders Meeting on Tuesday September 5th, we all watched our leader and friend humbly resign from 26 years of ministry here at Kenmore Alliance. It was the hardest meeting I have ever been a part of. Everything would now be different - including the conclusion of my Annual Report.

7

Page 9: 1997 ANNUAL REPORT€¦  · Web viewWe are actively seeking to fulfill the Great Commission and making disciples who make disciples. We take seriously, and are committed to both

The first 7 months of 2017 for me were that of a Worship Pastor. Pastor Evans and myself were now stepping into lead roles for KAC; leading the Elder Board, the Staff and the church as a whole. We had meeting after meeting, prayer and more prayer. We developed a co-pastoring structure based on strengths and giftedness. We ran the Leadership Retreat and the Annual Meeting, Evans ran staff meetings and ministry board and nominating committee and I developed a preaching schedule and prepared more sermons in 4 months than I had done in my whole career as a pastor. I prepared a worship schedule for 4 months that by God’s grace was able to lean on 4 lay worship leaders, and before we knew it, we hadn’t skipped a beat. By the time of the Annual Meeting at the end of November, we were able to look back at all that God had done and give Him so much praise for sustaining us and providing for us. 20 more members joined in November, AFTER Jon’s departure. Two more Baptism services have occurred. After a small dip, our giving and building fund eventually went back up, our attendance went back up and the church leadership empowered and supported Evans and I in our vision for a new leadership structure here at KAC. At Christmas, we hosted 845 souls, 10 more than the previous year. God has been with us and He is doing a new thing!

Here at the beginning of 2018 we are still in an interim period of leadership but we are excited for God has for us! Especially with the pursuit of our new building expansion. But the need for desperate and constant prayer still remains. The need to continually seek after God for His vision and mission for KAC is greater than ever. We long to see His Glory here at KAC and for the lost to meet Jesus. Pastor Jon allowed God to lead him well in his vision and preaching to teach KAC to be centered on Christ and Christ alone. Jon taught me much and taught me well; both when he was here, and as he exited well. Evans and I desire to do the same; for this church and for those that God would call to continue to lead it. Ephesians 2:22 “In Him (Christ) you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

WOMEN’S MINISTRIES COORDINATORLynn Bachman

KAC Women’s Ministries continues to work hard to provide opportunities for women of all ages to CONNECT, GROW and SERVE. This was a year of steadfastness. We met some changes head on with prayerful dependence and commitment to our purpose. We’ve exercised discipline and praise God for His faithfulness during challenging times.

“Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

CONNECT: GIRLFRIENDS Ice Cream Social – 65 attended and heard about two of KAC’s own compassion ministries:

Table of Grace and Clothe Me Coop, and ways to get involved in each. Christmas Social – “He is Our Peace” 180 attended.

Moms First Steps (Preschool moms) & Moms Next Steps (K - 8th grade moms)Thank you to the members of each steering team. Thank you to all of our godly mentor moms that serve in these groups. Early in the year representatives from both steering teams started praying and discussing the

decision to establish our own program for the 2017/2018 season, independent of MOPS International. This provided for greater integrity in material presented and lower registration fees.

Approximately 45 moms are registered in each group. Each meeting continues to have a missional focus and we strive to exemplify

parenting/marriage/friendship grounded in relationship with Jesus.

GROW: WOMEN’S STUDIES2017 Highlight: a group from Moms Next Steps meets on the alternate Wednesdaysand includes several moms that have never been involved in bible study. Approximately 85 women participated in studies. Some of the subjects covered in 2017:

o The Gospel of Marko Intimacy with Godo Perseverance learned through the Old Testament book of Ruth o The Sermon on the Mounto Parables of Jesus on the Kingdom of Heaveno Galatians

MENTORING In 2017 4 new mentoring relationships were established. Thank you to the women in our

church who are willing to be a godly influence in another woman’s life.

SERVE: CLOTHE ME CO-OPThank you to Rebecca Henderson and all the volunteers who faithfully serve! After personally praying, Kim Goodband transitioned out of coordinating and Rebecca

assumed that responsibility. We are very grateful for Kim’s faithful service and vision for so many years.

We added a distribution in July. As a part of the KAC ONE DAY service project we partnered with Buffalo Dream Center’s Boxes

of Love distribution and were able to provide a full service free distribution of clothes, shoes, boots, winter coats and more to families in need.

We are thankful for the addition of safety team members at each distribution.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/EDUCATIONIn 2017 I was again blessed to have Ruthie Gifford work as an intern in women’s ministries. Ruthie was integral in the spring, working on the plans for our Ice Cream Social and the Ladies Retreat.

WNY Servant Leaders team worked on bringing the Church of WNY together during the season of Pentecost. This emphasis culminated on June 9th with several thousand people gathered at the Key Bank Center to worship, pray and receive the Word of God. The gospel was shared and many gave their lives to Jesus.

I again served as Chairperson of the Deaconess Board. See the Deaconess Report for those details.

I attended the district coaching cluster along with the rest of the KAC staff.

THANK YOU!After working at KAC for almost 20 years, I was able to take an extended break in 2017. The ministry and elder boards approved a 6 week unpaid personal leave at my request from the end of May to early July. This was a beneficial time that included rest, reading and volunteering at the Magdalene Project in Niagara Falls. God provided in advance for this and I was thankful for the time to be refreshed in body, mind and spirit.

A new year stretches out ahead of us with great potential. God is working. The goal is to join Him in what He is doing through KAC Women’s Ministries. May He be glorified to work in and through us!

2017 Review at a Glance: Average weekly attendance:

o Senior High: 30 students a week (Up from 29 2016) o Middle School: 45 students a week (Up from 42 in 2016)

New attenders:o Senior High: since June 8 new students consistently attending (aside from KAC regulars who moved

up to senior high)o Middle School: since June, 22 new students consistently attending

10 students were baptized (4 in 2016) 16 students made a decision to accept Christ as their Savior (up from 4 in 2016) Buffalo Missions Trip: 27 students 5 adults (Costa Rica Trip in 2016) Never the Same Summer Camp: 62 students and 8 Leaders attended (up from 54 students, 10 adults in

2016) Fall Retreat: 90 students and 17 leaders attended (up from 83 students, 15 Adults in 2016) Currently we have 21 Lifeguards, 7 of which were former students and 3 of which are Junior Lifeguards

(current students). (In 2016 we had 24 Lifeguards and 4 Junior Life Guards)

2017 Highlights:

Overall Attendance:We have had some of our largest attendance for mid-week since I took over as Youth Pastor in 2010 (record attendance for our combined Thanksgiving night – see below). Middle School’s Fall (September to December) averaged 47 students per week. Senior High’s Fall (September to December) averaged 33 students per week (both higher than the overall weekly for 2017). We also saw an increase in students bringing visitors. Since June we have seen 8 new High Schoolers start attending (and continue attending) and 22 new Middle Schoolers!

Buffalo Bills and Breaking Playoff Droughts:I don’t want to say I single-handedly may have helped the Bills break the 17 year playoff drought but I was able to get 2 Bills this past year to share with our students! They both did a great job and our students were inspired by how Christ had been at work in both of them.

I reached out on Twitter to a couple Buffalo Bills who are Christians to see if they would be willing to share their faith stories with our students and they responded back. In the Spring Lorenzo Alexander came out TWICE to speak to our kids. April 26th Senior High Night 35 students came and May 10th Middle School Night 62 students. This Fall for a combined youth group night for Thanksgiving Jordan Matthews spoke to our students. We had 130 middle school and high school Students show up – this was the highest attended youth event that we have ever had!

Student Ownership:From Middle School Teen-Take-Over nights to our High School Impact Team we have seen some ups and downs for sure! Victoria Spencer graduated leaving us with a huge leadership void which has been hard to fill in our high school ministry. She did a great job taking the lead over the last 3 years and it has been tremendous to watch! Our Tee-Take-Overs have continued to be a hit amongst students and have helped us identify future leaders! I am hopeful that as we go through this transition year that once September 2018 hits we will have a good crop of leaders ready to step into areas of need.

Buffalo Missions Trip and Summer Kidz Club:

12

Page 14: 1997 ANNUAL REPORT€¦  · Web viewWe are actively seeking to fulfill the Great Commission and making disciples who make disciples. We take seriously, and are committed to both

We had a great week of serving with the Buffalo Dream Center in February! 22 kids worked hard all week. It was impactful for our students to see the great need of the people in our city. We had very busy days and had opportunities to serve “the least of these” and be a light for people in dark places! In the summer we also partnered with the Dream Center to help with Kidz Club 5 Fridays in July and August. During the summer, they have a lot teams that work with them but many tend to leave Fridays so we helped fill that need during the very busy ministry calendar for them. Our number of students who volunteered their Friday nights ranged from 14 -29 each week! We look forward to doing more work with Dream Center in 2018 and partnering with others around our area to be a blessing for the Gospel.

“Never The Same” Promo Night – “Not So Winter Comps”:6 churches came together for this event that we hosted at KAC (New Covenant, Evangel, Clarence United Methodist, Cornerstone, St Barts and KAC). The night is a preview of NTS Camp and involved team competitions, testimonies from students about NTS camp and how God has used it in their lives, and the importance of prayer for schools. One student was given a free registration for NTS camp this past summer. 105 students attended this event. We look forward to how this event will grow in January 2018.

“Never The Same” Summer Camp: This was the biggest group of students we have brought to camp since we started going to NTS at Houghton in 2011 (64 students, 9 adults). It was a powerful week for our students as they grew closer to one another and to God. The theme of this year’s camp was Witness, the whole thrust of the week was preparing students to be a witness for Christ in their lives. They were trained in evangelism and were given bracelets that encouraged them to share their faiths once a month! We have seen some students be much more confident in how to share the Gospel which has been great.

Fall Retreat: Bethany Camp once again hosted our student ministry for the largest Fall retreat I have ever led (90 students, 16 adults). We actually had a wait list for the first time ever as I was trying to be wise for our effectiveness especially in a small group environment. Erik Williams, a youth pastor friend of mine from California, came to share and did a great job. It was a super impactful time for our students as several students took significant steps in their faiths. We also had a band from Houghton led by one of former students Arthur Ward lead us in worship! It was a great weekend overall and I look forward to see how God continues to use this weekend in our ministry calendar for his glory!

High School Discipleship Group’s:We currently have 5 D-Groups that meet regularly outside of youth group. There are a total of 21 high school students in these groups as a whole. We like to encourage our students to join a DGroup as we have seen that small groups continue to be very effective in the spiritual growth of our students. We are very grateful for our adult leaders that lead these groups and their continual love and service in our student’s lives.

Middle School Impact Training:We do not have D-groups for our Middle schoolers at this point. Instead, we have decided to offer trainings 3x per year on 3 subjects: How to Read the Bible, How To Pray, How To Tell People About Jesus. Our first training was this Fall. About 15 middle schoolers came out and several leaders. It was very beneficial time for these students as we not only taught them about the significance of the Bible itself, but also walked them through several ways of studying the Bible. We hope to see these trainings grow in numbers. Our next Impact Training is in February 2018.

“Claim Your Campus”:We sent 4 students to Grand Rapids, Michigan, to get trained to be prayer leaders in their schools. This training is led by NTS. Our students found the training impactful and each of them have made strides in their schools to start or continue prayer movements. It was tremendously encouraging for our students to connect with other

13

Page 15: 1997 ANNUAL REPORT€¦  · Web viewWe are actively seeking to fulfill the Great Commission and making disciples who make disciples. We take seriously, and are committed to both

students from around the country who are passionate about praying for their schools. We look forward to attending this training in 2018.

Youth Training Event8 different churches got together for a great training this Fall that was hosted at KAC to equip students to be missionaries in their schools. We had guest speakers come out for the event that over 50 students attended with their youth pastors. We look forward to more opportunities to host and be a part of these events.

Leaders Overall:We lost some ground in the leader department this past year losing 10 leaders (many to graduation, relocation and ministry opportunities) and only adding 5 more over the past year. We have a really great group of leaders; we just need more of them! The Harvest in plentiful and workers are few! Keeping praying for people to join us as we reach the next generation.

New Adult Leaders in 2017: Molly Diamond, Allie Diamond, Randolph Diamond, Joe Zach, Karely MuellerAdult Leaders who stepped down in 2017: Erin Hy , Gail Stark, Karley Mueller, Seth Gleason, Victoria Spencer, Marcell Taylor, Joseph Cooper, John Woodin, Ciara Woodin, Luke Lindner

KAC Fusion Staff: This past year has been a bit of a transition as my intern John Woodin, who has been with us for the past two years, went to Costa Rica for the Gap Program. We are super excited for all that God is going to do through John while he is there as he follows his calling into full time ministry.

Victoria graduating was basically like losing a staff member. She graduated in June, did an internship with New Covenant and began the Renovation Institute at the Chapel. But exciting news is that she will be joining as an intern to Evans in January 2018.

Kate has been absolutely rock solid as she has settled into her place here at KAC. I believe that our communication has improved and we have learned how to work better together as a team. Couldn’t be happier to have her on our team!

Unite: I have been a part of some really exciting conversations as we have continued to try and bring together youth leaders from around WNY. We now have 3 groups that meet around the area that are encouraging one another! It has been a really awesome year of dreaming and implementing with our leadership team.

2017 Goal Recap (Successful goals. Unsuccessful goals.)

Students: o D Groups. Would love to 50% of our students involved in a D group in 2017. 68%o Establish intergeneration connections between our students and the adults in our church (possible

mentorship program). Guys Board Game Nights have actually helped this tremendously. o Operation 100: 60 Middle School Students a week 40 High School Students 41 and 30o Claim Your Campus Prayer groups starting in 5 different schools in WNY with our students.

Have Grand Island trying to get off the ground, Sweet Home and Lancaster. Adult Leaders:

o Look to add 5 New Leaders to team by end of 2017. Added 5… but lost 10… o Have a Leader Retreat in 2017 to refresh and encourage our volunteers. Had our leader

Christmas party with some extended hang out time along with breakfast training at Tim Hortons! Went really well.

14

Page 16: 1997 ANNUAL REPORT€¦  · Web viewWe are actively seeking to fulfill the Great Commission and making disciples who make disciples. We take seriously, and are committed to both

Unite: o Form leadership team to better connect with youth pastors and workers around WNY more

efficiently. Have 3 groups running simultaneously with plans for a 4th in Niagara Falls if God raises up the right person! Launched one in Clarence/Williamsville this Fall!

Events:o NTS Camp: 60 Students 8 adults 2017: 64 students, 9 leaders.o Fall Retreat 100 Students 16 Adults 2017: 90 students, 16 leaders.o Two Parent Connection Lunches: First event 53 Parents. I would like to see 60 parents attend in

May 2017 and 75 in October 2017. We about 45 parents attend our June Parent Connection lunch. We attribute the drop in numbers to time of the year we had the lunch. Final Thoughts on 2017:

2017 was a very busy year of seeing God do tremendous things in the lives of students.

I will remember baptizing Dominyc in a pool at Houghton I will remember seeing Rachel raise her hand to receive Christ and processing with her about her faith, I will remember Jeremiah’s face as he would light up about a boy he met at a house in Buffalo and how he

played soccer with him.

2017 was full of amazing stories and I can’t wait to see how God will top them all in 2018. I am so grateful that I showed up at this church in 2006 as a college student trying to find my way. I am now a father of an almost 2-year-old and going to be celebrating my 10 year wedding anniversary on August 10 of 2018. This church has helped me not only discover but live out my call and for that I am eternally grateful.

Ephesians 3:20 “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us…”

DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN’S MINISTRIESCarolyn Kiddy

KAC KidMin exists to partner with parents and families to make disciples for a lifetime. To accomplish this mission we offer Sunday School, Cross Training, Vacation Bible School, Daddy Daughter Date Night and Fall Fest. We also offer a variety of child care opportunities, allowing parents to connect, grow and serve.

Current Updates: Disciple Making Ministries: Sunday School and CrossTraining small groups serve our mission well. Sunday

mornings we typically have around 125 kids and Thursdays we run about 90. Many more kids are represented in each of these groups as kids are not always here every week. We have added some parent meetings to our Thursday schedule in hopes to build the church/home relationship and continue building families who seek God.

Outreach ministries: VBS saw 100+ workers and 220+ kids daily! These numbers are both smaller and more manageable than last year but it was a great VBS. We learned that our facility can safely hold this many and we are looking forward to the new building so that VBS can grow again. Fall Fest saw 725+ attenders and workers. Daddy Daughter Date Night was a great relationship building time for families with 110 participants.

Volunteers: We have many people here serving God with our kids frequently (many weekly!) and we are very thankful for them. We continue to have opportunities for more people to get involved in discipling our kids and are working on developing more worker training opportunities. Currently we have about 100 regular and substitute workers.

First time commitments/Baptism: We don’t often hear about kid’s first time commitments but 4 of our kids shared their story with us this year. One of our kids was baptized this year also. In 2018 we will be talking with parents more about these milestones and equipping them to lead their kids to Christ and walk with them in baptism.

Staffing: Kate Balon continues to be an asset to our Family Ministries team. She is sharing her talents and hours between KidMin, Youth and various events. This has been a great bridge between ministry areas. We also had an intern (Ruthie Gifford) for a few months who helped with Sunday School and VBS. This summer we also had Molly and Allie Diamond working with us on a unique August curriculum. This gave our Elementary Sunday workers a month break and gave the kids something different for the summer. Many teens also assisted with the August Operation:BIBLE. These workers were valuable and a great help during our most busy time of year.

Kids-in-ministry: We have about 10 kids in official ministry roles but there are many others that help in unofficial capacities as well. Some families serve together involving their kids in things such as Nursery and Red Carpet. Several middle schoolers who graduated from our ministries came back as leaders of our littler ones. We are encouraged to see a heart of ministry in our kids!

Goals for 2018: Continue developing volunteers through training, accessible ministry opportunities and support. Continue to build up parents and make resources accessible, bridging the gap between church and home. Continue to invest in on-going ministries to make the most of the time we have with the kids. Update the KidMin hallways. Encourage more youth and young adults to serve in ministry.

This has been a great year in ministry, both working with old systems and developing new ones. I look forward to seeing God bless KAC in 2018.

In His Service, Carolyn Kiddy

The ChargeAs elders, with the help of the Holy Spirit who has called us as overseers and shepherds of His church, we are committed to the care, protection and edification of the body of believers at Kenmore Alliance Church. We are actively seeking to fulfill the Great Commission and making disciples who make disciples. We take seriously, and are committed to both knowing and making known the Word of God by clearly teaching God’s Word so that it may be both learned and applied to our lives.

Hospital and assisted living/nursing home visitationsFacilitation of benevolence

All EldersConduct one-on-one mentoringAttend Saturday morning prayer and monthly meetings

BenevolenceIn 2017, members and adherents gave a total of16,298.64, slightly less than 2016. Under elder oversight, we distributed 14,685.32 to those with various needs. James 2:15-16 states “If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?” and in 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 “Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed.” Because of your cheerful generosity and love for the body of Christ that is being evidenced through your giving, you demonstrate God’s love in an outward fashion.

MembershipThose desiring to be members of this church will find classes available periodically throughout the year. These are both informative and essential providing a basic understanding of the mission, vision and values of Kenmore Alliance Church. Membership demonstrates your willingness and commitment to serve in a ministry to edify the local body while at the same time, serving God. Elders are responsible for reviewing applications and interviewing member candidates. 28 members were received into fellowship in 2017 and 11 were removed from membership.

PrayerElders meet for prayer every Saturday morning to pray for the needs of the church and its congregants. We are committed to prayer on all occasions and God’s Word exhorts us to the practice of prayer on a continual (regular) basis. God encourages us to come boldly to the throne of Grace. HE is glorified and honored by understanding HIS desire for communication with HIS creation.

“And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” I John 5:14-15

“If we want to read and to pray the prayers of the Bible and especially the Psalms, therefore, we must not ask first what they have to do with us, but what they have to do with Jesus Christ...It does not depend, therefore, on whether the Psalms express adequately that which we feel at a given moment in our heart. If we are to pray aright, perhaps it is quite necessary that we pray contrary to our own heart. Not what we want to pray is important, but what God wants us to pray.” Dietrich Bonhoeffer

We humbly thank you for allowing us to serve you this past year.

“She opens her mouth with wisdom and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”

Proverbs 31:26

By God’s grace the Deaconesses are continually developing hearts and instincts of ministry and are becoming well equipped to offer prayer and encouragement grounded in God’s Word and lead by the Holy Spirit. They met regularly to pray and learn together and to continue careful organization and administration of serving opportunities, and support of ministries that impact the family of Kenmore Alliance Church. Additionally, in 2017 they were integral in seeing that the responsibilities of Women’s Ministries were carried out in the absence of the Women’s Ministries Director during her personal leave of absence.
