RADIO SCOTLANDINTERVIEW

While being interviewed duing a"Thinking Day on the Air" Station,Denick GM4C)$ suggested perhapsasking a wornan for her thoughts on beinga radio amateur miglt open up the featureand spread the int€resl fagor a lot wider,an{ auywayDerrick knew I hadalreadydone an oOn Airu interview with LocalRadio Bor&rs Station which I enjoyed sohe knew I wonldproboblyagree.

In fact I did agree so on Mondaylst l\4ay Simon and his assis&ant Emmrarrivdat the &oras theywantedtocondrct the interview in the nshac;kn.

Simon quickly ran through the questionshe wanted to use, also explaidatthestart he wanted me to introdrce myselfand give a ffirun down on how I cameinto the hobby, what nry interests are, etc, etc. Then followed a few sound cMs&ring which he actually asked me tospeak more loudly, yes, no kieing !l

The questions were varie4 *were

women discriminated against on the air ?"He was amazedwhen I saidon thecontrary being a wornan on air was anadvantage mostly.

*What is the best q/ay to get into thehdby ?' I said contacting the RSGB whowould point them to local radio club oramateur who would erylain abou the RAEor Novice oams and the pocsible classesin the area Althoughyou can shxty athome. I di4 and passed enn Althoughhad many non air" helpers with morse, and now pass on to others by teachingmorse.

nWhat enam qualifications arenee@ ?" City and Guilds, then DTImorse I2WPM sending ardreceiving tooperate atl bsds.

nwlrat are other amateurs like ?" Ieplainedthey comefrom all walks of lifeand generalty are very ftiendly andtrelpfrrl.

Aryulay the interview didn't lastlong and is incorporated in feafirreincludiug awalkabqt asking pblic theiropinions on amatsurs.

Details of time and dafe o beconfirmed, will let yor know bdorehand if

(Contirued to next C.olumn)

(Cont)possible. that is ofcourse ifanyone elsewants to hear it, hi !!!

It was good to actually prt forwardsomething positive about our geat hobbyand perhaps let the general prblic knowwe rue not always as the nsws mediahave us, worth a try anyway and Ieqioy€ddoing it.
