The minutes of the meetings of the Federal Reserve Board held on June

3r1 and June 6th were read and approved.

Memorandum dated June 6th addressed to the Secretary of the Board by

the Chief of the Gold Settlement Division, requesting authority to notify

night employees of the Division that they will receive one week's vacation

At this point, Mr. McIntosh joined the meeting.

cooperation between his office and the Board in reaching some agreement

General Counsel and the Deputy Comptroller of the Currency be designated

as a committee to draft a uniform definition.

Upon motion, the suggestion of the Comptrollerwas approved.

Letter dated May 30th from 1:r. Robert F. Maddox, Chairman of the Atlanta

Of the handling of non-cash collections by Federal Reserve banks adopted

ilemorandum from Counsel dated June 3rd, submitting draft of reply to

letter dated May 26th from the Federal Reserve Agent at Atlanta advising

that the United States District Attorney has requested an affidavit of

ef Section 5209 of the Revised Statutes of the United States; the proposed

ePlY stating that the Board knows of no legal reason why an affidavit of

Upon motion, the proposed letter was approved.

The Governor then referred to a conversation with Mr. Gilbert, Supervisor

Of Examinations, with reference to certain apparent violations of law dis-

Closed by the recent examination and credit investigation of the Pacific

Southwest Trust and Savings Bank of Los Angeles. He stated that the Federal

aElerve Agent at San Francisco evidently does not feel it to be his duty

to report these matters to the United States District Attorney and that he

Is of the opinion that a letter should be addressed to the Federal Reserve

4gent calling attention to the apparent violations and directing that they

be reported.

Upon motion by 1:r. Hamlin, it was voted that a

letter to the Federal Reserve Agent should be prepared,

as suggested by the Governor.

Report of Committee on District 47 on the matter referred to the

After discussion, upon motion by Miller the abovematter was referred back to the Committee for the prepara-

tion of a letter to the Chairman of the Chicago Bank alongthe lines of the Committee's report.

After discussion, action on the above matterwas deferred and the Secretary was instructed to prepareand submit to the Board a report with regard to the estab-lishment and maintenance of bank relations departments atthe several Federal Reserve banks.

transmitting a revision of the 3oard's .Aegulation Y, piepared

11 ana12, with minor amendments to other Sections.

Following a discussion, :Ir. Hamlin moved that the3oard adopt the revised helation H as submitted, andthat it be promulgated immediately, superseding egula-tion K, 3eries of 1924.

Mere followed a discussion during Which Mr. :Tillersuggested a revision of the language of the proposedArticle A of Section 11. During the discussion Messrs.James and McIntosh left the meeting.

hr. Hamlin then suggested that action on his motionbe deferred until the next .meeting of the Board.

The Governor stated. that hr. Hamlin's motion wouldbe special order of business .for a meeting to be heldtomorrow morning.
