Welcome to Historic Kawaiahao Church

To those joining us for the first time, we say E Welina Mai (Welcome) and

Mahalo (Thank you) for worshiping with us this morning. We pray that you

will feel a deep sense of aloha and warmth from our Ohana (Family) of God’s

people.

Out of respect for all worshipers, please Kōkua (Assist) by kindly turning off

cellular phones and pagers as you enter the sanctuary. Photography and vide-

ography are discouraged but are welcome prior to and after the service.

Serving you this morning are Doorkeepers and Greeters stationed at the front

entrances of the church. They will gladly assist you with any concerns or

questions you may have.

The Deacons, who assist the Kahu (Pastor), are available to pray with you

immediately following the service. Meet them on the front pews.

If you would like to find out more about the history of Kawaiahao Church

and its grounds, we invite you to join our Docents at the front pews immedi-

ately following the service.

United Church of Christ Statement of Faith

We believe in God, the Eternal Spirit, Father of our Lord Jesus

Christ and our Father, and to His deeds we testify: He

calls the worlds into being, creates man in His own

image and sets before Him the ways of life and death.

He seeks in holy love to save all people from aimless-

ness and sin. He judges men and nations by His

righteous will declared through prophets and apostles.

In Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth, our crucified and

risen Lord, He has come to us and shared our common lot, con-

quering sin and death and reconciling the world to Himself. He

bestows upon us his Holy Spirit, creating and renewing the

church of Jesus Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of all

ages, tongues, and races.

He calls us into His church to accept the cost and joy of disciple-

ship, to be His servants in the service of men, to proclaim the

gospel to all the world and resist the powers of evil, to share in

Christ's baptism and eat at His table, to join Him in his passion

and victory. He promises to all who trust Him forgiveness of sins

and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace,

His presence in trial and rejoicing, and eternal life in His kingdom

which has no end. Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto

Him. Amen.

Luke 12:54-59 54 He said to the crowd: “When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, ‘It’s

going to rain,’ and it does. 55 And when the south wind blows, you say, ‘It’s going to be hot,’ and it is. 56 Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it

that you don’t know how to interpret this present time?

57 “Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right? 58 As you are going with your adversary to the magistrate, try hard to be reconciled on the

way, or your adversary may drag you off to the judge, and the judge turn you over to the

officer, and the officer throw you into prison. 59 I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.”

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation !

O my soul, praise him, for he is your health and salvation!

Come, all who hear; now to his temple draw near,

Join me in glad adoration.

Praise to the Lord, above all things so wondrously reigning;

Sheltering you under his wings, and so gently sustaining!

Have you not seen all that is needful has been

Sent by his gracious ordaining?

Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him!

All that has life and breath, come now with praises before him.

Let the Amen sound from his people again;

Gladly forever adore him.
